from the word “motive” which means a requirement that needs satisfaction or contentment. It is
necessary to motivate the employees because it enables the organization to meet its goals and
objectives and aids the employees to perform better or improve their performance. It increases
the productivity of the employees as it encourages the employees to enhance their output. It also
enables the organization to lower its cost of operation thereby, aiding the organization to offer its
products to the customers for sale at lower price (Buckley and Doyle, 2016). It also reduces the
level of non-attendance of the employees in the organization.
The motivational theories to motivate the employees of Travelodge are Two Factor theory and
Maslow’s theory of needs. The two factor theory can be applied in Travelodge since the rewards
and the incentives that the organization provides to its employees on performing better are the
motivators. This theory was deduced by Herzberg. However, the work pressure and the improper
coordination among the different departments of the organization are the hygiene factors. It can
be used to motivate the employees by dealing with hygiene factors and improving them so that
the inconvenience and the issues faced by the employees are dealt effectively (Alshmemri et al.,
2017).
