management to ensure competitive labour force in the business organisation. However,
management is looking forward to the individuals that possess such a form of skills as it supports
them to undertake a variety of tasks in the working environment easily (Collet et al. 2015).
Therefore, it has been stated that possessing such skills are influential in making a competitive
atmosphere within the workplace that further results in enhancing the growth and success of the
organisation.
The present report focuses on considering the case scenario of Travelodge UK one of the leading
organisations in the travel and tourism sector. The assignment will provide insight knowledge
and understanding regarding the employability skills required for effective employment within
the chosen firm. Apart from this, it will also focus on developing interpersonal and transferrable
skills among the employees and staffs in order to develop solutions to the work-based problems.

Introduction
The task will be carried to develop a set of own responsibility along with evaluating my own
level of performance within the Travelodge UK. With the assessment of my own responsibilities
and performance objectives, I have evaluated myself, and those are planning skills, decision-
making skills, communication skills etc.
1.1 Develop a set of own responsibilities and performance objectives
To attain growth and development in the career, it has been stated that it is largely dependent on
the overall development of performance objectives as well as individual responsibility within the
setting (Cottrell, 2015). With the help of this process, it would assist the individual becoming
more efficient towards contributing the organisational success and growth. Through assessing
my job profile of manager in the Travelodge hotel, I have developed a set of responsibilities that
I must undertake for succeeding in the travel and tourism sector. My key responsibility within
the firm focuses on planning the daily operational activities and delegating the required activities
and tasks to the employees and staffs. Apart from this, being the manager of Travelodge Hotel, I
would also set my responsibility towards undertaking effective decision through ensuring a
collaborative and participative approach within the setting. With effective decision making, I
would be easily engaged in taking effective decision for the firm that results in maximising sales
and profits by satisfying the customers.
Apart from developing the set of own responsibility, I would also engage in developing the
performance objectives with the help of using the SMART framework. The set performance
objectives mainly focus on improved customer’s feedback towards the services of hospitality
organisation, improved customers services as well as team performance that will result in
enhancing the overall performance of the cited organisation.

Self-evaluation is an effective method that supports an individual to recognise their efficiencies

there are complex situations in the setting where I am not able to take an effective decision that
leads to hamper my practices and directly affect the overall performance of the hotel.
Subsequently, I have also evaluated that I was competent in planning all the operational activities
and tasks in the hotel that has directly contributed to improving the customer’s services within
the cited hospitality. On the other hand, against the defined objectives I have identified that my
communication and interactive skills were ineffective that results in imparting improper
communication to the other staffs and customers. Therefore, it results in raising the situation of
mismanagement and misunderstanding within the hospitality organisation.

From the above evaluation of the individual skills, it has been recommended to the manager to
engage in different practices that results in improving their overall practices. Working as the
hotel manager in Travelodge UK, I have highlighted certain areas that needed to be improved in

approaches as well as models used by the manager in improving the quality of performance of
the staffs it includes Maslow need hierarchy theory, Theory X and Y, Herzberg two factors
theory etc. (O’Connor and Bodicoat, 2017). With the implementation of all the techniques and
methods, it would result in enhancing the employee performance along with ensuring their
commitment towards accomplishing the stated objectives. Apart from this, other motivational
techniques can be used by Travelodge manager to improve quality of performance, these include
