2.1 Developing solution to the work based problems
From my work experience, as a manager of Travelodge hotel I have identified two
most common problems that lead to affect the Travelodge hotel. The first problem that I have
experienced in workplace is related to the poor communication skills of front desk staffs that
lead to customer’s dissatisfaction from the services. It is important for the front-desk staff to
have an excellent communication skills as they are the one with whom customers get
interacted first in hotel.
Solution: As a manager, I can organise an effective training in order to improve their
communication skills by undertaking several activities in which the front desk employees can
participate. I could make strategies with human resource department in order to recruit the
front desk staff as per the responsibilities of job role. It is important for the staff to know the
importance of communication skill in hospitality sector and providing superior quality of
services customers as per the set standards.
The second problem that I have analysed is the dissatisfaction in employees regarding
the working hours (Misra and Khurana, 2017). This problems leads demotivate them which
affects their performance. I have analysed that such problems leads to increase the chances of
conflicts in workplace as well.
Solution: As a manager, I can take their meetings regarding their issues with the working
hours. The HRM can make recruit more employees and starts shifts in order to reduce the
working hours of employees. In addition to this, I can design and implements various
rewarding and incentives plans in order to motivate the employees to perform better. It can be
said that, effective incentives plans is better solution to increase the employee’s job
