Journal Entry 1: Know Yourself
It is extremely important to identify and evaluate the personal skills of an individual for
developing the career. The Gallup strength theory effectively facilitates in indentifying the
personal skills and talents, which are directly associated with building someone’s career
(Tomkovick and Swanson 2014). The identification of personal potential skills and talents would
help in utilizing the same in my work and improving my career. Hence, it can be best tool for me
to know myself better in assessing my ability to get any particular job.
In future, I want to be a human resources manager in an organization. Gallup strengths
will help me to decide upon whether I will be fit for the particular job designation or not. As per
the Gallup strength theory, I am highly strategic at my work. Such talent will perfectly facilitate
me in improving my career as human resource manager. Being a human resource manager, it is
extremely important to make strategic planning for coordinating all the human resource
activities. Moreover, such talent will help me in integrating human resources and leading them
towards achieving organizational goals. After evaluation of my Gallup strengths, I came to know
that I am relator. Such talent will assist me in establishing deep relationship with my co-workers,
subordinates and managers at my workplace. Being a human resource manager, this talent will
help me to build a collaborative and communicative work environment leading to employee
satisfaction. In this way, the relator talent will definitely help me in improving my career.
With the help of my connectedness talent, I can make a unified employee group through
identifying commonality within them. It will help in making a collaborative work environment in
a diversified working culture. On the other hand, I strongly believe that individuals must have
strong problem solving skills for having improvement at their career. As per Gallup strength

theory, I am highly restorative, which can facilitate me in thriving on solving difficult
organizational problems. Such problem solving skills will highlight to the managers, which will
help in improving my career. Furthermore, the talent of have belief will lead to take meaningful
organizational decision as a human resource manager, which will help me in achieving my career
aspiration.
Journal Entry 2: Know your sector
It is extremely important for me to understand my skills and talents for assessing my
abilities in adjusting with my respective sector. In future, I want to join in hospitality sector for
developing my future career as human resource manager. My potential abilities to adjust with the
hospitality sector can effectively be evaluated through Gallup Strength Theory and Joharis
Theory. According to Seemiller (2017), Gallup Strength Theory helps in assessing the personal
skills and talents and focusing on the strengths for improving the career. It is extremely
important for the hospitality sector to make strategic decision for providing innovative and
organized service for leading high level of customer satisfaction. As per Gallup theory, I am
highly strategic, which help me to take strong and strategic decision for my organization within
hospitality sector. On the other hand, the success of hospitality sector is highly depended on the
on the warm behavior and efficient service provided by the hospitality staffs. Hence, being a
human resource manager, I must be able to keep the employees engaged with organizational
goal. With the talent of relator, I can build deep relationship with the employees and keep them
engaged with the hospitality services.
Saxena (2015) opined that Johari Window theory focuses on soft skills of the individuals
and helps in personal development leading to overall career development. It is extremely

the employees for keep them aware and active in achieving organizational success (Solnet et al.
2016). As per Johari Window theory, my open area is that I am quite extrovert and trustable
person. Hence, I will be able to communicate with the employees easily and understand their
issues properly for resolving those issues immediately. In this way, I will be able to develop my
career in hospitality sector effectively. However, my blind area is that I am pretty nervous in
taking a new decision, which can hinder my career development.
Journal Entry 3: Let them know you
The elements of Gallup Strength Theory help an individual to focus on his strengths and
skills for developing his future career (Su et al. 2015). Strategic thinking is extremely important
for getting success in hospitality sector, the human resource mangers deal with limited resources
and manpower for meeting at strategic goals. As per Gallup Strength Theory, I am highly
strategic, which can help me taking strategic decisions for achieving competitive goals of my
organization. On the other hand, it is extremely significant for the hospitality sector to employee
diverse set of employees towards understanding the needs of diverse set of customers. In such
situation, the connectedness talent will help me in making a unified human resource team by
assessing the commonalities of the diverse employees. In this way, I will be able to employ such
diverse employees towards a common goal of the organization, which will help me in achieving
my aspiration of career.
The element of Johari window theory helps in assessing the soft-skills for personal
development, which ultimately contributes in developing careers (Jaiswal and Dhar 2017). In
hospitality sector, it is extremely important to understand the values and issues of the employees

for keep them engaged with organizational goals. As per this theory, everyone know me as
highly extrovert and approachable, which will help in mixing with the employee properly and
understand their issues for strategically directly them towards achieving organizational goals.
However, I do not exactly know my nervousness in making innovative human resource decision
towards leading organizational progress. It can limit my ability to reach at my ultimate career
goal.
