1.0 Journal entry: 1 ‘Know yourself’
Gallup strength theory primarily evaluates the strength of an individual based on which
the person can render career growth on future. As per the concept of this specific theory, an
individual before entering in the professional field for career development should focus on
identifying inner strengths and abilities. Based on those strengths and abilities the person goes
forward to reach the path success (Jones-Smith 2013). However, by utilizing this specific theory
I have identified five major strengths that can help me immensely in reaching professional goal
and objectives.
The primary strengths that I have found out while evaluating my professional skill and
competency level includes Achiever, Responsibility, Positivity, Competition, Incuder:
Achiever:
Achiever should have the efficiency of doing hard work amidst immense pressure and
overburden with full vigor and enthusiasm (Keenan and Mostert 2013). Consequently, it would
be effective for me in rendering success on my professional career.
Responsibility:
Responsibility implies the sense of accepting job role and providing service within proper
time. In order to be responsible I should maintain a good rapport with the team members. This
particular component helped me immensely in staying connected with my team members while
performing. As a result, I am able to exchange necessary thoughts and ideas while taking any
kind of decision.

Positivity:
Every workplace is endowed with full of burdens and work pressures. As a result, a
responsible worker should maintain positive outlook in gesture. The individual should have the
capability of performing amidst immense challenges and obstacles faced in future (Asplund and
Blacksmith 2012). This particular enthusiastic attitude helps me immensely in keeping up my
performance throughout the year.
Competition:
Competition is required for performance enhancement. In order to become competitive
towards rivals communication among the performers is highly significant. In order to become
successful both in personal as well as professional life I should be flexible in making an effective
communication with every team mates belonging to various cultural backgrounds and attitudes.
As a result, I would be able to achieve the business goal and enhance my performance level.
Includer:
Inlcuder is the quality of including everyone within a similar goal and object
(Tomkovick and Swanson 2014). While working within a team I have to maintain a good rapport
with my team members in order to make my projects successful. However, the role of a
professional is to maintain collaboration within a team so that everyone can share their own
experience, views and thoughts for reaching business goal.

These five strengths are helpful for me in enhancing my professional skill and
competency. In order to become a successful performer I should utilize my strengths in a positive
way to overcome necessary hardships and barriers.
2.0 Journal entry 2: ‘Know your sector’
On the other hand, the concept of Johari Window Theory is different from Gallup
strength. Johari Window along with self-evaluation helps to identify the strengths of others as
well. With the help of a mutual understanding and their amalgamated strengths and weakness of
team members, the entire group intends to perform well towards reaching the success. This
particular theory helps an individual to render an improvement among group performers (Pareek
and Rathore 2014). By maintaining a collaborative decision with other team members persons
maintain a good team bond. As a result, team members by maintaining a collaborative decision
can perform well towards the services.
Gallup strength theory is only concerned in the identification of strengths of an
individual. People belonging to various geographical backgrounds and attitudes may not be
flexible in communicating with other effectively (Hood and Carruthers 2016). Therefore, this
very specific theory helps an individual to identify the strong characteristics of an individual with
the help of which the person can maintain effective interaction with others.
In order to make an in-depth critical evaluation between these two theories mentioned
above it can be stated that the objectives of those two theories differ from each other. Gallup
strength theory primarily concentrates to identify the strengths of own. As a result, by evaluating
Gallup strength, one can enhance the performance level of an individual by utilizing the strong
characteristics (Pareek and Rathore 2014). On the other hand, Johari Window helps to enhance

group performance. By identifying the strengths and weakness of an individual as well as others,
a person can maintain a collaborative work by applying this theory. With the help of mutual
understating an individual can take collective decision.
3.0 Journal entry 3: ‘Let them know you’
The implementation of both the two theories would help me immensely in evaluating my
performance level in future. By applying Gallup strength theory, I have identified five major
strengths of mine as an individual. These strengths would be effectively in maintaining a good
rapport with my team members. In order to reach the peak of success individual should maintain
effective network with public to exchange thoughts and ideas. This very specific theory evaluates
that I have an effective communication skill based on which I can transmit an important message
clearly to my listeners. Consequently, I do not have to face any kind of barrier at the workplace
in attending group discussion session and collective decision. On the other hand, Johari Window
is also fruitful in my life for evaluating my strengths along with the strengths and weakness of
others. As a result, before making any strategic decision I can evaluate the strengths and
weakness of my team members first. Based on their strengths I can implement business decision.
As a result, the entire group performance can easily succeed for reaching the business goal.
Therefore, after analyzing two specific theories it can be concluded that I can enhance my
personal competency as well as the performance level of my group both. These two theories
would be effective in reaching career development goal.
