AI Summary
This strategic management project investigates the impact of employee absenteeism on the productivity of an enterprise, using the Americana Group in Kuwait as a case study. The project begins with an introduction defining absenteeism, its negative impacts, and the aims of the research, which include identifying the causes of absenteeism, assessing motivational factors, and proposing strategies to reduce its impact. Task 1 provides a justification for the topic's contribution to strategic aims, discusses the scope, aims, and objectives, and outlines the research methodologies, including qualitative research, interpretivism, and descriptive research design. Task 2 explores data sources, synthesizes information, and critically evaluates options. Task 3 evaluates research analysis to draw conclusions and recommend courses of action, and Task 4 assesses the methods used in the project results and their contribution to strategic objectives. The project incorporates a literature review, data collection via questionnaires, and thematic analysis to provide recommendations for reducing absenteeism and improving productivity and profitability.

Topic- To investigate how employees absenteeism impact productivity of an
enterprise. With reference to case study of “Americana group, Kuwait”.
INTRODUCTION
Absenteeism is term that called as an employee intentional or habitual absence from
work. It is frequent lack of attendance at work without any valid cause (Kerzner, 2017). Thus,
high absenteeism within the enterprise can affect the growth of an enterprise. Herein,
responsibility for managing absenteeism has fallen primarily on immediate supervisors.
Employee retention is pivotal to the overall effectiveness and future success to absence
policy or program. In simple terms, this is defined as “Absence of an employee from work”.
However, this leads to issues as back logs, piling of work and thus work delay. It can have
negative impact on morale and productivity of employees.
The present report is based on to investigate the high number of staff absence in
department. Henceforth, report will draw aims and objectives on the basis of given topic. Thus,
research methodologies will be defined to select proper method to research study. Lastly,
recommendation will be given to cope up with issue of high absenteeism of employees as this
has impact on productivity and profitability of the enterprise.
TASK 1

Absenteeism is serious workplace problem and an expensive occurrence for both
employers and employee seemingly unpredictable in nature. This is one of the major problem
that faced by almost all employers of today (Mok, Shen and Yang, 2015). It is big barriers for
any kind of enterprise as its affect on growth of an organisation. However, this provide inverse
effect on organisation growth and development.
Additionally, researcher has asserted that high staff turnover can lead to fatigue
experienced by incumbent staff that leads to poor service delivery. Control on the rate of
absenteeism can be exercised with help of immediate manager through the human resource
section in relation to duration and terms of absence pertaining to salary and terms of service.
Additionally, the main objective of this research is to identify the cause behind the absenteeism

Qualitative information cannot be expressed in numerical terms whereas quantitative information
is expressed in numerical terms that help in providing effective results in doing further study
(Doppelt, 2017). As qualitative approach is taken with the help of survey questionnaire data will
be collected for further analysis.
Research philosophy:- It is dealing with the nature and development of knowledge that will be
required for carry out research for the future. It comprises of two types interpretivism and
positivism. Interpretivism provide small sample to researcher for conducting further study. On
the other hand, positivism is highly structured and providing large samples to researcher for
getting better results while conducting research. Researcher will use interpretivism philosophy
for achieving objective of the study.
Research Design:- It includes various process and methods that are designed for collecting and
measuring problem that will be occurred during research. It consist of two types as exploratory
and descriptive research (Pollack and Pollack, 2015). In exploratory approach problem will be
identified by researcher for the purpose of getting effective results. On the other hand, in
descriptive various methods and procedures will be used for investigating data and information
for further study. Researcher will used descriptive technique that will be used for providing
better results in the further study.
Data Collection:- It refers to the process of collecting and measuring information through
different sources that help in evaluating outcomes to researcher. This consist of two types
primary and secondary collection of data. Primary method involve collecting information
through survey. Data that have been collected through this approach is real time data as collected
by investigator itself and provide valuable data and information for further research (Kazadi,
Lievens and Mahr, 2016). Secondary data will be collected through books and journal and the
data that have been collected is second hand information. In this researcher will use primary
method of collection by using survey.
Sampling:- It is the method of taking sample from the given population for the purpose of
getting desired result in the future. There are different types of sampling such as stratified,
cluster, systematic or random sampling. In this random sampling will be used by using non
probabilistic technique by researcher. As in random sampling sample is being collected
randomly by researcher for conducting further study. Sample size of 20 respondents is taken into
consideration as questions will be asked from employers of the company.

Data analysis:- It is the process of converting data and information that will be gathered by
researcher by drawing conclusion that help in making decision for the company. In this thematic
analysis will be used by the researcher (Bryson, 2018).
Ethical Consideration:- This is the most important part of research. As data and information
that will be collected remain confidential by researcher so that there is less chances of error while
conducting research. It will be taken into consideration that respondents will participate in
providing accurate information to the researcher.
