INTRODUCTION
Business management is an activity of group of employees. It is the most important part
of management studies. Business management is full of management skills and knowledge
which helps organisation to accomplish the overall target. It also helps to earn maximum profit
for the organisation. Business face many challenges during day to day activities in business
corporation. It requires many new skills and talented employees to have the business expansion.
Present report is based on business environment. It will explain about the employee engagement
theories. It uses in the performance management. On the other side, it also covers the importance
of employee engagement in the company. Overall, this essay covers all essential elements
regarding employee performance at individual or group level.
Essay: Employee engagement
Employee engagement is the most important factor in HR department. Employee
engagement is the level of commitments and involvements towards the organisation goals(Ebert,
et.al, 2014). Employees are the key factors in the organisation which maintain the environment
of the company for example: Marks and Spencer (M and S), it is the leading retail store in
Britain which gives quality of product and services to the customers. Employees are the factors
which helps by giving their dedication level towards the growth of the company. Employees
engagement is the process in which individual or group of employees helps each other to solve
the issues in the company. Further, it supports to improve the job performance within the
organisation. This increases the positive environment in the business which gives more effective
output to the company growth. The term employee engagement is interpreted differently in
management literature(Hatten, 2015). Employees engagement also helps in describing job
involvement. This aids in hiring more talented and skill-full employees in the organisation. For
example, Mark and Spencer recruit employees on the basis of his or her skills, knowledge and
qualification background. This process of recruitment benefits in making talented staff which
gives more quality of services to the clients. On the other side, if company doesn't have proper
team members they cannot survive for the long time. Every organisation needs adopting fair
practises and compensation to enhance the confidence level of employees. This increases the
employee engagement(Schaper, et.al, 2014). It contains two types of commitments: first is
rational and second one is emotional. Emotional commitment is more important in determining
the performance level of the employees. Employee involvement is based on motivation level and

confidence level. It helps employees to give more powerful commitments towards the
organisation objective. Motivation factor is another key element in employee involvement. Each
and every organisation adopts some activities through which employee get happy and satisfied
with the company. Like, Marks and Spencer appreciate their talented employee through giving
them good amount of salary and benefits. This increases the trust and faith in employees towards
the organisation, so that employees will work more passionately.
On the other side to enhance the confidence level in employees, companies adopt motivational
theories like Maslow need hierarchy theory, MacGregor theory and many more. These theories
of motivation assist organisation to maintain the performance level of the employees. Employee
involvement influenced socio culture factors as well(Mariotti, Glackin, 2014). This positive
environment increase the climate and culture of the organisation, which is expected to enhance
the employee engagement. According to the research on employee engagement, it was concluded
that most of the organisation feels that employee do not work for earning money only, but other
than that, they want some more non-financial benefits from the company. Non-financial factors
that affects employee involvement includes advancement, civilised, employer commitments,
autonomy, praise, support, trust promotion, flexible working and respect for work etc. All these
factors help company to retain employee turnover. Most of the organisations adopt these key
factors to enhance the employee engagement. This is because it helps in creating leaders in the
company which aids in leading the management with their talented skills. On the other side,
employee evolvement needs proper communication between the team members. Communication
helps to make environment active and also pass the information from one person to another. It
also makes positive environment in the organisation(Buil, I., Catalán, S., & Martínez, E. 2016).
It depends on the individual’s behaviour towards his senior members in the working place.
Moreover, employee involvement gives more effective working environment and maximum
customer satisfaction. This helps to enhance the company image in the market. Furthermore,
employee involvement is the process of creating the opportunities for employees to connect with
their colleagues. So, it is crucial for the company to give flexible environment to employees for
better performance. Employee involvement is also very important to full fill the overall
commitments to work(Carroll, Buchholtz, 2014 ).
To enhance the employee motivation, organisation adopt many motivation theories and
concepts. It helps organisation to create motivational environment in the work place which

supports in enhancing the business level by satisfying the customer needs and wants. For
example, Walt Disney adopt theory of employee engagement. According to the Dana Wilkie,
Disney should focus on the people and should has to adopt the happiest place in the world. It
tries to make environment faithful and trustful, so it positive surroundings. Walt Disney has a
good employee engagement environment. Employees are the first person who interact with the
customers, it is very tough job to do. That is why employee engagement is important to measure
seriously and gives employees satisfaction. Walt and Disney applying the Maslow Need
hierarchy theory. Maslow theory suggested adopting the basic needs of individual, which is
important to satisfy the needs of person(Hall, Ko, (2014). From this theory, employees get
motivated which results in enhancing the employee performance. It also increases the positive
attitude among the employees which helps to make new ideas and innovative product and
services for the company. Furthermore, in order to identify the needs of the employees, Walt
Disney offers employee to go for outdoor activity; from this activity, employees will get happy
and feel fresh towards next task. In this theory, Maslow describes the importance of basic needs
that without having basic requirements, employees will not be happy with the environment.
Along with that, Walt Disney give coupons for holiday tours with the family. These benefits are
increasing the interest of employees in organisation. Second theory applied by Disney is
Expectancy theory; in this process, Walt Disney give chance to people for job without any
discrimination. Like without considering its gender, race, caste, religion and any other factors.
On the other hand, they provide training opportunities to new employees through the 'Disney
University' to ensure and enhance the skills and knowledge. It also increases the individual
competency level. Besides this, Walt Disney also gives basic business standards and ethics
training. It gives knowledge about the work ethics in the organisation. On the other side, this
training process enhance the professionalism among the new employees. Along with that,
company also gives reward packages to employees so that they can live their lives with ease and
maintain their professional and personal life easily. Person is emotional they want their space in
which they enjoy their life with their family members. For that Company should take care of the
needs of employees. It helps organisation to maintain the healthy environment among the
employees. Along with that, they also provide learning through training, some financial benefits,
offering time off etc. which gives good effect on the working performance. Furthermore, Walt
Disney also applied Goal setting theory(Erasmus, Strydom & Rudansky-Kloppers, 2016). This

theory helps to set the working standards to motivate employees. It builds the skills and
knowledge of the employees to manage the things more effectively. It also helps employees to
work together with full of enthusiasm to accomplish the organisation objectives. Maslow and
Vroom motivational theories give higher level of employee engagement, which helps to enhance
the positive working environment. This theory of employee engagement is very crucial to
intensify the employee involvement. It helps to retain the talented employees, enhance the
competency level, increasing company image in front of the employees, increasing learning and
skills etc. Furthermore, it also initiates employees to take new opportunities to expand the growth
of the company(Jeston & Nelis 2014). Motivation theories helps to get new talented employees
and leaders to achieve the overall target. It is important for the manager to maintain the better
communication level with the employees. In addition, manager’s role is to identify the needs and
wants of employees and analyse the need of training to enhance the employee engagement. It is a
psychological process implemented by managers. Mangers also gives flexible working
environment in the company so tat employees will not get hurt and feel dissatisfied with the
company.
Employee engagement theory is necessary to enhance the employee performance. It is the
responsibility of the manager to measure the actual performance of employees. Regular
employee communication is very important to get connected with the employees. It is a positive
activity to analyse the individual behaviour towards the organisational goals. Manger has
responsibility to identify the individual behaviour and group action in the organisation. It helps
to improve the effective working environment in the company(George & Jones, 2015). Manger
observes individual performance and their work quality along with that they also analyse the
behaviour with their subordinates. They prepare check list to mange the individual performance
and then measure the issues and the reason of less performance. On the basis of information
manager try to remove those conflicts and give proper guidance to maintain the formal
environment in the company. It helps manager to applying motivational theories on individual
and group level. To maintain the quality of performance manger needs to communicate clear
goals to the employees so that employee will know about the task and objectives. Majority of
employees wants to enhance their competency level to improvise their skills. For getting future
benefits. Clear target and targeting gives effective employee engagement. Manager needs to
share proper information with the employees. Its tend to give motivation and sense of worth in

with the company culture. Also, praise talented employees for its good work. It is the method in
which manager gives individual appreciation to the employees. This increases the behaviour of
employees towards the company goals. Manger also applying Hertz berg two factor theory. In
which two factors are includes Motivation factors and Hygiene factors. Motivation factors that
lead employees to work hard and Hygiene factors lead employees to satisfaction by giving
bonus, good salary, relationship and other benefits(Schaufeli & Salanova, 2014). This theory of
employee engagement helps manager to enhance the employee performance. Sometimes in the
working environment individual employees is new and doesn't understand the work properly in
that case manager needs to give motivation and try to give guidelines to overcome from this
issue. On the other side Manager of the company deals with different types of employees in the
organisation, and give motivation by applying the best motivation theory. Furthermore, Manger
also apply Hawthorne effect theory to handle the group of number employees in the working
place(Crawford, et.al, 2014). This theory is given by Henry A. Landsberger in 1950. In this
theory it was observed that few employees are very passionate about their work and perform
better. By doing regular feedback and measure the performance with the other employees this
activity create competition among employees. This activity give passion towards their work. It
helps manger to analyse the performance of every employee. Employees are the key factor in the
organisation. It is the responsibility of the manager to manage the employee performance on the
basis of their skills and knowledge. Manger of the organisation should handle the employee
issues and find some corrective plans. On the other side, manager is accountable to available in
case of any query, so that employees feel free and trustful with the environment of organisation.
Manager is responsible to take care of the things running in the organisation(Saks & Gruman,

give them proper career guidance to enhance the quality of management.

to their skills and wants. For that individual needs to gain proper learning and knowledge to
accomplish the organisation motive. On the basis of current scenario company wants talented
and skill full employees which helps to increase the value of the company. On the other side
employees has to adopt good behaviour and positive thoughts so that it gives help to improvise
employee performance. Individual should be the person who become asset for the company
performance. Talented employees gives high dedication towards the company achievements. To
maximize position image in the working place, Individual needs to nourish its own skills and
knowledge(Slack, Corlett & Morris, 2015). It is beneficial for organisation and for employees as
well. Those talented individuals earn more opportunities in the future. Employees has power to
take challenging risk and find corrective strategies. Adding to that individual also have
capabilities to manage the work and give better output to the company. Employees should have
set of skills to manage the work such as learning, creativity, confident, and have good
personality. Employees are the individual who give values to the company objectives.
Organisation recruits individual who have set of skills and knowledge, which helps to give more
profit to the company. On the basis of current requirement big international companies hires only
those employees which have new different skills. By which company enhance their future
growth(Anitha, 2014). Person should learn management studies and give new different skills, it
helps to enhance their career opportunists. Employee engagement in the organisation is based on
employees skills and talent. Only talented employees will go forward. Rest of the individual stay
back in the company. To overcome from this problem people needs to nourish their knowledge
and get updated all the time. It helps to get more possibility to increase their ability plane. Every
company wants to maintain talented staff through which they achieve the target on time. This
positive recruitment gives long-term growth and higher opportunities to maintain the skill full
employees(Bal, De Lange, 2015). Moreover, for getting good position in the reputed company

approach the employer.
On organisational level recommendation would be healthy environment for employees.
Company image is represent from the quality of employees(Innanen, Tolvanen, Salmela-Aro,
2014). To maintain professionalism organisation needs to enhance their services benefits towards
the employee engagement. Like employees needs and wants. Every employee perform their task
at good amout ofv salary for which they contribute their ability. Company needs to give proper
wages and salary on the basis of employees skills and qualification. It is the responsibility of
manager to measure the performance of the employees and give them best benefits according to
their work. It helps to motivate other employees for better performance. On the other side
company also needs to give sick leave, overtime wages, give salary on time. These all factors
give motivation to the employees for better performance. Organisation needs to give training and
development on the basis of requirements. Market is dynamic in nature due to having new
technologies company needs to adopt training session to explain the methods to the employees. It
increases the capability of employees and give effective output. On the other side employee also
want safety and healthy environment. Organisation also needs to maintain the safety standards to
protect the employees from uncertain situations. It is the responsibility of manager to make
employees aware about those areas that have a high risk. These all safety appliances create trust
and faith among employees towards the organisation image. Furthermore, organisation also give
the best efforts towards the employees' compensation For which employees work(Mariotti,
Glackin, 2014). Adding to more employees also needs to give positive working environment.
Environment of the company plays a very important role to encourage employee
performance(Ebert, et.al, 2014). It gives respect towards the employee age, race, ethnicity,
country of origin etc. mangers has never ignored employee issues. This also helps to maintain the
company image in the market. Organisation responsibility is very crucial for employee
involvement. It helps to make strong working staff. Overall manager is responsible to take care
of organisational functions and employees performance as well. It helps top accomplish the task
in effective and efficient level(Hatten, 2015 ).

analysed different factors which helps to enhance the employee engagement. Also, I realised the
important role of employee involvement in the organisation. That employees are the key success
of the company. On the other side I have learnt the importance of employee safety in the working
place. Apart from that maintaining the safety needs within the organisation is important to
keeping hygiene factors as well as they achieve employee satisfaction. I analysed how
motivational theories will achieve the satisfaction level of the employees and helps to enhance
the performance level. I also analysed the importance of manager role to carry the management
activities. It also responsible to maintain the coordination between the employees.
Besides this, I have learnt about the key factors to success. On the other side I have learnt
different requirements of employees which is important to full fill their needs and wants. Like
employees' compensation, wages salary and non financial benefits. These all factors helps
company to make better working environment. I also learned so may things regarding the
employee relation like employees needs to make efforts to maintain their opposition in the
company. On the other side, it also has to be creative and innovative to get higher appreciation

important role to maintain the healthy environment. I completed this research within the set of
structure, this helps me to understand the time management. It helps me to learn about the time
management skills. Though which I can easily divide my work into small task, so that I will able
to perform it well. I developed so many skills and knowledge during the whole research. Some
skills are time management, communication skills, analytical skills, behavioural skills, any many
other skills which helps me to gain new knowledge. I got the knowledge that how organisation
working and how the give several benefits to their employees for better performance in the work
place. Apart from this how employees will satisfy with the organisation. Moreover, how the
organisation creates values for their talented employees. I applied this model into my real life.
These factors are more challenging with me but from these approaches I have learned so many
positive things which helps me to overcome from the issue. This report help me to enhance my
cognitive skills. This present report increases my personality towards the organisation culture.
Besides this, this research gives me huge knowledge regarding employee behaviour. Through
this research, I got many points to accomplish the project objective. Research is the most
important part in every field. It gives new knowledge and ideas towards the developments. In

to be minimize. It helps organisation to keep talented employees in the organisation. I have learnt

analysed that, employees needs to be happy otherwise they did not give their best efforts towards
the objectives. It helps s to enhance the profit maximization of the company. I have also learned
that employees is rational and emotional they need motivation and appreciation for better
working. Overall, I have learned so may things to enhance the employee performance and
maximize company objectives positively. These skills give me opportunity to make new ideas
which help me in future time. From the research I got learn different aspects of employee
engagements, that important for managers to keep healthy positive environment in which
employees work smoothly. On the other side this research gives me lots of knowledge regarding
new developments of employee relations. Which is important for the organisation. Satisfied
employees will give high level of good performance, So that company earn maximum profit

performance level of employees. This increases the organisation management and company
