Respectfully, I am submitting the following highlighted points as proof of my
employee’s proficiency in English.
Before officially employing him into this restaurant, I gave him a small test to ensure that
he was excellent in the English language. Therefore, I interviewed him using the English
language asking him questions such as “Why were you late for work yesterday?” he gave me a
very interesting answer that I have never forgotten until now. “Excuse my behavior sir, I had
taken my friend to hospital the previous night and slept on the hospital seat after he was
admitted. I had to ensure that my friend was fine before coming to work in the morning”. I was
really impressed with the command in which he spoke with and he was confidence because he
did not stammer nor fidget. He was audible and he looked me straight into the eye. He also
pronounced each word correctly in those two sentences. His face was also calm and very
composed. This was evidence that he had mastered the language quite well.
As my second test/interview question, I asked him “Where do you hope to see yourself in
the next five years?”, “As a manager of this restaurant”. He answered. His answer not only
perturbed me but also showed me that he had interest in learning the Restaurant business.
From the time he joined my restaurant, the language used in communication is English. I
closely monitored his verbal communication as well as his comprehension of the instructions
given to him by the clients as well as his colleagues here at work.
In this restaurant, we usually train our employees to work in different areas so as to
familiarize themselves just in case one of them falls sick or cases of emergencies; we do not have
to start looking for more man power. The process is not only effective, but it also makes them
learn new skills while at work.
As such, the reference on of this letter has been able to work as a waiter, taking orders of
different kinds of foods such as pizza, burger, French fries, coffee, soft drinks and cakes. These

foods and beverages are all written in English and there are no instances where a client
complained that he brought to him or her he had not ordered. That is proof that he is able to read
and interpret English language proficiently.
Subsequently, he has also been very professional in his communication. He rarely uses
informal language and one time a client called to give feedback for his services.
I vividly remember that evening we had received visitors unexpectedly. We were almost
closing business. However, they seemed tired and very hungry. We opted to serve them
nevertheless. He was the only one around. He took charge and gave the clients all they order for
and went ahead to suggest to the right kind of food. He stayed up till they all left. That was not
only impressive but also very commendable.
Without any doubt, I strong believe that my employee has great command both in spoken
and written English. He has represented our restaurant in various official meeting that required
him to address the panels. He has also taken part in writing letters to other partners we wanted to
get into business with and they were all successful because of his excellent grammar skills. He is
also advancing in his proficiency in English. I have met him several times reading novels,
magazines as well as taking online lessons using the WiFi installed in our restaurant. This was to
me very impressive because it shows that he keeps learning more to be updated. He is the person
that makes our restaurant to keep buying newspapers because he believes that we need to stay
abreast with everything happening around us. We jokingly ask him, when we are free to read us
the news. He does that in a very charming way and we recently told him to open a news room.
His diction is marvelous, he rests where need be, he does not rush as he speaks or reads, he is
simply very proficient.
Conclusively, he is an excellent employ and there is no doubt that he will continue to be
one. The important aspect of this letter, his proficiency in English, is well gauged. We have
heard deep conversations on regards to the books he reads, he can argue out well as well as
present his points in a detailed way that will convince the other party to agree with him on his
point of view.
