Reflection on significant learning moment
As an adult, I have experienced so many significant learning moments and hence one
of those significant learning moments occurred when I got familiar with the self-awareness
concept. During a project in high school, I was supposed to work in a group of 6 members
and we all were taught self-awareness importance and use. My experience taught me that a
self-aware person is capable to cope up in any kind of circumstances. Based on (Moon,
2013), I learned that self-awareness is the awareness of an individual’s own individuality.
The significant learning was that I got to know about my own strengths, weaknesses, threats
and opportunities through working in a team. In my significant learning, my team members
and the tutor were involved who allowed us to grow and nurture our personalities with
personal SWOT analysis. The experience related to self-awareness was as significant to me
as being aware of own environment, the body as well as lifestyle, allows us to grow both
personally and professionally (Moon, 2013).
Reflection on incidental, formal and informal learning
As an adult learner, I would like to mention that informal learning typically includes
incidental learning, and it may or may not occur in institutions. On the other hand, formal
learning is always institutionally sponsored, highly structured and classroom-based (Boud,
Keogh, & Walker, 2013). In the case of formal learning, we always learn in classrooms in a
highly structured way. To me, an example of formal learning was learning aptitude course
into my aptitude classes. On the other hand, informal learning occurred when my father
taught me gratitude and its importance while living life. Both learning were incidental yet
there is a huge difference amid these two types of learning.
