INTRODUCTION
It has been noticed that many employees in hospitality industry left their job because of
lack of motivation from their organisation. The main idea behind this study is to analyse how
important is employee management within the organisation and to identify the type of strategies
which can be used for employees management. The study will be performed in a Hong Kong. As
the hospitality industry is quite competitive therefore it demands for high creative employees.
Therefore in order to allow employees to showcase their abilities as well as creativity it is
required that they are provided with good working environment and supportive environment to
demonstrate their capabilities in best possible manner.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Aims
To analyse the strategies used by hotels for employees management in enhancing brand
performance.
Objectives
To identify the concept of employees management
To analyse challenges which hotels face while implementing employee management strategies
To recommend strategies which can be used to enhance brand performance by employees
management
Research Questions
What is the basic idea behind employee management?
What type of challenges hotels face while developing strategies for employee management?
How hotels can enhance its brand performance with the help of employee management?
LITERATURE REVIEW
As per the views of “Mathew & Kannan, (2019)” technology has resulted in increase of
competition in hospitality industry. The growing pace of globalisation demands existing
employees to develop their knowledge, professional education as well as skills. Therefore it
creates the needs for hotel management to fulfil the needs of employees in order to retain their
employees.

According to “Mostafa, Gould‐Williams & Bottomley, (2015)” one of the most common
practice which is used by organisation for employee engagement is including motivation
practices in the organisation. Employer use motivation practices while framing policies and
procedure for employees in order to keep their motivation level high.
A study conducted by “Paek & et.al., (2015)” shows that it is highly required by the
organisation to understand that how employees performance can be enhanced in order to
improve organisation overall performance and productivity. Human resource management is one
of the important factor of employees performance, job satisfaction and career development.
Positive ethical behaviour within the organisation helps employees with the performance.
The study conducted by “Jung & Yoon, (2016)” shows that job satisfaction totally
depends on employees needs which can be extrinsic as well as intrinsic whereas Noe & et.al.,
(2017) , holds the view that justice measure the commitment of employee toward the jobs.
Performance management system however effects the strategies made by the
management of organisation. It is used in order to measure the performance of employees as well
as organisation. It is necessary that senior management must ensure the fair treatment with every
employees which will help leader to create a sense of equality and fairness among employees.
However it can be seen that how various strategies by top management might help hotels or
organisation for enhancing employees performance along with organisational performance. It is
very essential on the part of employers to develop strategies which is for the benefit of
employees and also which will ensure that employees are satisfied with their job.
In addition to this illustrated by “Gilbert, (2019)” Hotel can use various strategies which
help organization to effectively management of employees as well as their performance. One of
the most common strategy for effectively management of employees and their performance is
effectively communication strategy. Under this strategy, firm communicate with their employees
all the organizational aspects such as goals, objectives, mission, vision, core values, strategies,
tactics and plans in order to make them understand that how to do work properly and how to
improve the performance so that organizational objectives can be achieved.
According to the view of ““Lin & Tz-Yauw Lin, (2019)” Another strategy, company can
implement in their business activity is utilization of performance management software. There
are various software available in the market and company should use only that software which is
suitable for their organisation. This software will help company to save their time as well as

improve the existing performance management strategies which has been adopted by the firm. It
will also help in increasing employee engagement as well as employee loyalty towards
organisation.
As citied by “Khan & Hefny, (2019)” One more strategy, hotel can utilize is that
conducting meetings in the context of employees and their performance on the weekly basis.
Under this meetings, managers and team leaders will meet with the employees and prepare
reports on the performance of employees so that they can review their performance and give
them feedback about how to do better perform in future. It will also help company to keep their
employees disciplined.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research Design
Research design refers to the strategy which is being adopted by researcher for the
purpose of planning about how to conduct research and answering the research questions. It
involves various techniques and methods for collection and analysis of the research problem.
There are two types of research design – Exploratory Research Design and Conclusive Research
Design (Yin, 2017). In exploratory research design, the focus is on research problem which is not
considered to be define clearly. In conclusive research design, the focus is on finding which is
very useful in making decisions or reaching at conclusion.
Under this research project, the research design is exploratory research.
Research Approach
Research approach is a plan of researcher for doing research. It involves steps and
detailed methods of data collection, analysis and interpretation. There are two types of research
approach – Deductive research approach and Inductive research approach. Under the deductive
approach, research design the hypothesis according to their theory and do observe and research
to test the hypothesis (Jackson, 2015). In the contrast, In inductive approach, Researcher collect
data according to the research topic, do test them and accordingly prepare the hypothesis which
is considered to be a theory.
In this research project, deductive research approach will be taking.
Research Philosophy
Research philosophy refers to the beliefs of researcher which is related to the methods of
collecting, analysing and interpretation of data. There are four types of research philosophy

which are – Pragmatism, Positivism, Realism and Interpretivism. Pragmatism refers to those
research philosophy that supports those concepts which is relevant by logic or practical action.
Positivism is the research philosophy which supports only factual theory or concept which is
gained by collection, analysis and interpretation methods. Realism can be define as the research
philosophy which is based on the assumptions that are being used by researcher in empirical
research. Meaning of interpretivism is that research philosophy in which researcher interpret the
elements by integrates interest into research study (Gog, 2015).
In this research, researcher has pragmatism philosophy.
Sampling
Sampling refers to the process of selecting sample from population for the further
research study (Etikan, Musa & Alkassim, 2016). There are two types of sampling – Probability
Sampling and Non-probability Sampling. Under Probability Sampling, every members of
population has the chance to participate in the research study. While in Non-probability
Sampling, not all but few of the members of population has the chance to participate in the
research study and the selection of members are done on the basis of randomly manner.
Under the research project, 20 employees has been taken as a sample and researcher go
for non-probability sampling.
Data Collection
Data collection refers to the process of gathering the information and data from various
sources for the purpose of enabling answers to relevant research questions or problems. There
are two methods of data collection which are such as – Primary Data Collection and Secondary
Data Collection (Powilleit, 2015). Primary data collection refers to the method of gathering those
data which is first time obtained from the sources directly. Secondary data collection can be
define as the method of collecting those type of data which has been already used by another
researcher.
In this research project, researcher is doing secondary data collection by conducting
survey.
Data Analysis
Data analysis is the process of measuring and evaluating the data with the help of data
analytical and statistical tools in order to obtain relevant and supportive information and assist in
making decisions regarding the research problem or research question. There are two types of

data analysis – Qualitative and Quantitative. Quantitative data analysis refers to those method in
which the evaluation of collected data is done in the form of numbers in order to find out the
relationship between data and hypothesis. Qualitative data analysis refers to those method in
which analysis is done for non-numeric information (Ott & Longnecker, 2015).
Under this research project, researcher will do qualitative data analysis.
Ethical Considerations
There are few ethical considerations which are required to be followed -
Researcher should respect the privacy and dignity of research participatants.
Researcher should take care of the confidentiality level of the collected data.
Any communication which is done by researcher should be transparent, clear and honest.
Before doing research, researcher should take full consent from research participates (Ketefian,
2015).

Gantt chart is produced as a production control tool in year 1917 by Henry L. Gantt. It is
used in order to schedule, plan and coordinate different activities. It is created with the horizontal
axis which represent the time taken to complete specific activity while vertical axis represents
the task taken in order to complete the project.
