I once worked as a store attendant. Before securing the position, I used to like the idea of
working in a store. Contrary to what I expected, I ended up hating the job just like many of us in
the place. I worked at this place for six month only. We were about fifty store attendants and if
most of us were asked if they liked their, 80% would say they did not. The reason behind this is
because the management was working towards maximizing the human resources. The managers
would micromanage the employees to the last bit such that employees would have lesser working
space and freedom. Personally I do not think this increased efficiency but rather employees were
just demotivated to work in the organization.
Some of the job characteristics missing were; good communication between the management and
the employees. There lacked a program to give out feedback on the job. When the employees fail
to communicate with the management, employees feel demotivated to work hence inefficiency in
the output. Another characteristic missing is teamwork. Employees could barely voice their
concerns to the management which is very dangerous to an organization, (Oerlemans, and
Bakker, 2018). The micromanagement of employees brought about lack of autonomy. Freedom
and independence is very important for employees and the results are seen in the general output
(Liere-Netheler, Vogelsang, Hoppe, and Steinhüser, 2017).

In my opinion, the management at the hospital would have to enhance teamwork. The
management should work together with the nurses. A good way to enhance teamwork is to
handle conflict with care and creation of a safe space to share information between the
employees and the management.
Feedback and autonomy is also very important. The management should establish a common
ground where the employees are able to share their views with the management. Furthermore,
employees should allowed freedom and independence at the workplace. This increases efficiency
in their performance
