INTRODUCTION
Motivation plays a major role in the gaining the employee productivity. It further helps
increase the commitment level of employees' with the company. It allows the management of an
organisation to meet the company goal (Olafsen and et. al., 2015). Motivated employees ensures
entities to achieve the desired outputs. Employee Motivation and productivity are highly
correlated with each other. In this research, this relationship will be analysed and findings will be
drawn. In the present research, the significance of employee motivation in increasing the work
productivity will be understand. Besides this, the practices adopted by the selected entity will
also be discussed in this report. In addition to this, this study will also suggest some effective
ways in which the chosen entity can increase the employee motivation.
The present research revolves around a coffee store, Caffe Nero Ltd. headquartered in
London, UK. For the selected company, the influence of motivated employees' on their
productivity is analysed.

1.2 Identify the factors that contribute to process of research project selection
The rationale behind conducting this research is to analyse the role of employee
motivation in their productivity at the Caffe Nero.
1.3 Undertake a critical review of key references
According to Ganta (2014), the importance of the motivation in the employees in
increasing their productivity is the most crucial demand of an effectively working organisation. It
may be noted that a successful business understands the importance of productivity. For the
selected firm, Caffe Nero it is mandatory to enhance the motivation of its workers. It will cause
positive impact upon the sales and profitability of the enterprises. It is because of the fact that
motivated employees will tend to deliver their best to the customers visiting the store (Cerasoli,
Nicklin, and Ford, 2014). This will enhance the satisfaction level of the employees from the
organisation and the work which will directly impact upon the productivity. This dedication of
the workers towards the entity will help in accomplishing the strategic goal in the stipulated
time-frame. Further, employees are investment in themselves and thus, when they will be
motivated then the company will face the worthwhile returns.
In addition to this, Osabiya, Babatunde (2015), explained that entities are required to
implement effective practices in the operations to increase the motivation level of the employees.
In context to Caffe Nero, there are various techniques that are being used. The human resource
management team maintains a high level of communication between the workers and the
managers so that the employees can state their issues directly to them (Certo, 2015). Further,
various activities are held in the premises promoting the healthy competition between the
workforce which encourages them to keep moving. The coffee store also provides achievement
point to the employees on the basis of their daily performance which acts as their appreciation
reward. In addition to this, organisation conducts training and development programmes
allowing employees to participate in the presentation, group discussions. The participation of the
workers in the decision-making process further helps in increasing their loyalty and trust.
Besides this, the Caffe Nero store gives equal opportunities to all the members present in the
premises which is strengthening the morale of the workers.
According to the views of Gillet and et. al. (2013), raised level of motivation in the
employees plays a major role in increasing the overall productivity of the entity. It has been
observed that the motivated workers feel more committed to the organisation which in turn

influence them to put their best in the operations. Besides the, a motivated employee helps in
creating healthy environment of the organisation which influence the other workers to work
appropriately. In present context, as per the Caffe Nero, motivated employees will treat the
customers nicely. Consequent to this, the sales of the organisation will enhance and so will be the
profitability (Hameed, Ramzan, and Zubair, 2014). Along with this, the entity will also be able
to gain customer satisfaction, loyalty and retention which is beneficial for it. Thus, in this way,
employee motivation plays an important role in the effectiveness of a successful entity by
improving the overall operations.
As per the views of Curtis, Upchurch and Severt (2008), there are some needs and
expectations of the employees working in an organisation. Since every person demands for an
increased living standard and giving bets to their families and beloveds, Caffe Nero should also
emphasise on the extrinsic motivation needs of the workforce. There are various type of rewards
that the entity can render to its employees'. Some of them involves salary, fringe benefits,
promotion, contract of service, etc. However, it may be noted that it is not possible for the entity
to increase the salary of all the workers and hence, this can be done on performance basis
(Uzonna, 2013).This criterion will also influence all the workers to put their best in increasing
the productivity of the firm. It has been further recommended that the entity should increase the
motivation level of the employees by offering them retirements and medical plans. This will not
accomplish their expectation but also help in developing satisfaction from the company's
services.
1.4 Research project specification
As part of the research project specification aims and objectives are given below.

2.2 Research investigation on the basis of determined specification and process
Research design: It is the blueprint of the study which is created at the starting of the research
and following which the further research is carried on. For completing the present research
report, descriptive design is used where main emphasise is given on the employee motivation
techniques that can enhance the productivity of Caffe Nero.
Research approach: There are two types of research approaches namely, inductive and
deductive. Out of them, the approach chosen for conducting the present research is inductive in
nature (Research Methodology, 2016). This is so because the work revolves around Caffe Nero
and the motivation of employees working there.
Research philosophy: Research philosophy is considered as the values and beliefs of the
researcher towards the application of the outcomes in the different context. For the present
research, philosophy selected is, interprevitism. Interpretivism is selected as the research
philosophy or conducting the present work. Besides this, positivism will be required as the
research data will also be analyse using quantitative tools.
Data collection: It is the most significant part of the research In this the data that has to be
analysed is collected using various sources. For the present report both the primary and the
secondary source has been used for gathering the information. Primary information has been
gathered from 50 employees through Questionnaire whereas secondary data has been taken from
various books, journals, articles and internet.
Data sampling: It is regarded as selecting the respondents from a range of population from
whom the data can be gathered. For the present research, probability sampling technique has
been used. For conducting the research, the data information ha been obtained from 50
employees.
Data analysis: There are two type of data analysation methods namely, qualitative and
quantitative. For conducting the present research Qualitative will be used to analyse the non-
numeric information.

It can be suggested through present analysis that there are some lacking points on which
Caffe Nero is required to focus upon. Below are some recommendations that will help the entity
in increasing the motivation level of the employees:
 They should involve all the employees in the decision-making process of the department.
This will not only bring clarity in the operations but it makes individual worker to feel
important for the entity and increases dedication towards the job role. This in turn, will
enhance the productivity of the employees.
 Organisation is also recommended to provide incentives to the employees on the basis of
their performance. This action will not only fulfil the needs and expectations of a worker
from the work but will also create an environment of healthy competition.
