Reflection:
I have done two assignments on the topic of “impact of employee’s motivation on organizational
performance”. At the time of completing that assignment I have gained a lot of knowledge about
the topic along with how the research needs to be conducted. Earlier, I was not much aware
about the impact and the role of motivation on the workforce in the organizations but after
conducting this research, I have polished the knowledge and understanding of motivation at the
workforce. I have encountered that motivation is not the only factor that inspire the employees
but also makes them satisfied and improve their performance.
As far as the usefulness of this learning experience is considered, it has been realized by me that
when I will be working for an organization, I will try to feel self motivated so that I can perform
for my company. This experience has a great value for me because motivation is not the only
aspect to be understood but it is the practical feeling that needs to be developed amongst each
and every employee in the company. I personally feel that this is the biggest factor for better
performance which was not my opinion earlier. I understood motivation as the factor that can be
defined as the factor which inspires and encourage the employees to work in an organization and
different people have different elements that can motivate them (Oláh, et al. 2017).
If the use of this learning experience in my course is considered, it has been analyzed that I have
not only gained knowledge about the concepts of motivation but I get to know about the concepts
of research as well. In the two assignments I have conducted the whole research by following a
particular pattern and some of the steps that make the research more sorted and effective in
nature. In all over my program that learning of research methods will help me out to conduct the
research in other areas as well. As now I have understood almost all the methods of research and
report writing so now it won’t be a pressure for me to do any further projects. as far as my career
is considered, I will definitely be working for any of the other organization in future and these
concepts of motivation along with its theories will help me to develop my understand of
organizational processes. When I was reading about the various theories of motivation, I have
realized one thing about myself that I am the person who will get motivated by the appreciation
in persona and money will not be the only source of motivation for me. So I can say that this

learning experience have also helped me in understating my own self and nature towards
motivation. The knowledge that I have gained about the factors of motivation and its impact on
the workforce, I will implement the same on myself when I will be working for any of the
organization. For examples, from the hierarchy theory, I will try to figure out my positional in
the hierarchy and approach my work as per my position (Pinder, 2014).
If I will talk about the evaluation part of my learning, I will state the most important thing that I
have learnt is self motivation which is the very crucial for a person not in his acre but in life as
well. It has been analyzed by me that my interest in this project has gradually increased with
time. When initially I was working on this project I was not that much excited but as I grew with
this project I grew with my understanding as well. This topic of impact of motivation has
developed me as a person because even I have some weaknesses in me but after reading various
theories of motivation, I have realized that accepting those weaknesses and working on the same
is the biggest motivation for any person in life to improve him. Coming to another part of my
learning that is the research part, I have analyzed that I have learnt the overall process of
conducting the research stepwise. This will definitely help me in conducting other researches
also along with this. Conducting a business search by taking Woolworth as the company have
refined my knowledge about the different departments and operations of the big companies
especially HR department in this particular project. This is because HR is the department that is
basically responsible for motivating the employees in the organization (Taylor, Bogdan and
DeVault, 2015). Earlier I was not that much interested in this operation but now I will definitely
want to work in this operation type to understand the various aspects of employee’s feeing
towards their organization along with their working process.
If I talk about my learning process, I had a simple approach in my mind that I will first read
about various research methods and the also about my topic as theoretical knowledge is very
important to imply the same on practical grounds. I have initiated the research by developing
some of the research questions so that the overall research can get the path or the objective. I
have decided to understand the basic concept of employee motivation by the case of Woolworth
and after the needs the impact of the same on the organization performance which is related to
individual performance of the employees. In the end I have also studied about the strategies to
motivate the employees used by the company called Woolworth. The reason behind doing

assignment 1 and assignment 2 is to develop my understanding about the topic and also to brush
up my research skills in business segment, conducting the research in business is really not easy
as the one has to know about the business, the industry, the product and lot more which may vary
industry to industry and process to process. Various data needs to be analyzed at the same time.
Business research is the best way to involve qualitative and quantitiave research methods
simultaneously to conduct the research (Yin, 2009). The major idea behind selecting this topic
for assignment 1 and 2 is to gain information about the role of motivation and the practices of the
companies to motivate their employees.
The learning experience and the knowledge that I have gained from this research project
definitely have a great impact in developing me as a person. I have realized that motivation is not
the only concept that affects the career but also affects the life in general (Barford and Hester,
2011). This is because an individual has to be motivated towards whatever he do and practice. If
there is lack of motivation then it would not be success for sure. I have shown a lot of motivation
to conduct this project because this has generated y interest. It is not only the marks that are a
motivation to conduct this project well but it is the zeal of learning about this topic that has made
me doing this assignment with keen observation and in depth learning. If I will get the chance to
work with HR department of any of the company in future I will apply this knowledge of
motivational concepts and try to implement the approaches and strategies that will favor the
employees as well as the organization. The application of the learning on practical grounds will
definitely brush up my knowledge and improve my skills.
