SUBMISSION 1 : RESEARCH DESIGN PROPOSAL
TITLE : “To examine the importance of employee motivation on enhancing sales
of business”. A case study on ALDI.
Chapter: 1 Introduction
Employees motivation is essential for organization in getting success because it
is considered as factor that encourage to employees for pursuing their particular task or
work with an appropriate manner. In other words, there are various factors that have
influence on employees motivation such as biological, social as well as emotional. So,
motivation is complex activity which is directly influenced by external forces. It is
necessary for every organization to consider employees motivation at work for the
purpose of getting best possible outcomes and positive result in better ways. Therefore,
employers focus on providing an effective working environment which creates
motivation for employees so that they can accomplish the mission and vision of the firm
(O'Leary, 2017). This research is based on ALDI which is a supermarket chain and have
around 10,000 stores in 20 countries. They provide number of products or services
including foods, beverages, home appliances and sanitary items etc. in the market
place.
The main areas of this particular research is to analyze the impact of employees
motivation on the business by undertaking different views or opinion of authors and
writers. It is beneficial for organization in increasing sales volume with the help of
satisfying employees needs and wants. This research will help in examining the
importance of motivation that facilitates in increasing work productivity as well as
profitability of the company (Davies and Hughes, 2014). It will be beneficial for
researcher in defining the concept of employees motivation and what are the different
methods of motivation that encourage workers in performing various tasks. This
research is to be conducted for identifying the role of employees motivation on
increasing sales of the firm so that positive result can be achieved. It will be helpful for
organization as they can consider the motivation for enhancing employees skills and
capabilities for the purpose of increasing work productivity and achieve higher returns in
well manner. Therefore research topic is very important for academic and practical

perspective as well because it will support to the investigator and researcher in finding
various methods for motivating employees so that they can work effectively and
concentrated in achieving goals or objectives. The major purpose of the research is
linked with Motivation as it plays a play crucial role in every business success because
it encourage the employees and increase their productivity level while performing any
task with effective manner (Flick, 2015). The research is very beneficial for the
investigator as they can found the effectiveness of employees motivation which support
in sales enhancements with higher profitability as well.

Chapter 2: Research Methodology
Research Methodology may be defined as the procedure or techniques which is
generally used for the purpose of identifying, selecting, processing as well as analysing
the information regarding a topic. In a particular research paper, reader and investigator
can evaluate their study with the help of methodology so that they can get better
outcomes with effective manner (Bozorgnia and et. al., 2014) . There is logical and
cohesive structure of the proposal. The related sections were included in the research
which are mentioned below.

detailed methods for data collections, analysis as well as interpretation. There are
defined different types of research approaches that support in gathering more data or
information relevant to topic. These are as followings; Deductive research approach : This describes the process where hypotheses
for research are to be confirmed or rejected. In other words, a deductive
approach may be concerned with creating or developing hypothesis which are
based on existing theory and design a research strategy for testing such
hypothesis.
Inductive research approach : It is also known as inductive reasoning which is
generally starts with observation and theories regarding end of research
process. Inductive research includes the search patterns with the help of
observation as well as development of explanations (Roberts-Holmes, 2018).
Therefore, in this research, deductive approach will be chosen for developing
hypotheses in which decision are to be made regarding accepted and rejected.
Research methods :
Research methodology can be classified into various ways and there are
different types of methods of research that support in gathering data or information so
that problems can be solved in an effective manner. Here defined two methods of
research that play major role in data collection such as:
Qualitative research : It is described the method in which data are to be
collected, analysed and interpreted with the help of observation. Qualitative research
generally refers to the meaning, characteristic, symbols, description of things and
metaphors as well. It is considered as the subjective and use of various kinds of
methods of data collections such as observation, survey, questionnaires, interview,
group discussions and meetings where original information are to be gathered (Napoli
and et. al., 2015). For conducting any research, it is beneficial for gathering first handed
data so that better outcomes can be obtained.
Quantitative research : This also play a crucial role in research that support in
collecting more relevant data in term of statistics, figures and numbers. Researcher can
consider this methods where they can collect data regarding particular topic with
effective manner. It is easy to use and investigator can measure collected data due to

numerical and statistical form so that best possible result can be get. On the other side,
the procedure of measurements is central that support in providing fundamental data
and helps in comparing with past data for the purpose of gathering accurate information
with well manner. The methods which are involved in this such as mathematical,
statistical, numerical and many other mode that help in getting in specific way.
For this research methodology, qualitative data is to be used that will support in
getting more relevant information and gather data with an effective manner (Walliman,
2017). It will be beneficial for researcher as they can collect information regarding
employees motivation as how it can be beneficial in enhancing sales volume and get
higher returns with more productivity.
Types of data,
Primary data : In this, it is considered that the data are collected by researcher
own-self. They use this method for conducting research and collect more relevant data
with the help of quantitative and qualitative method as well. The advantage of such data
is that all information are unique which are gathered until researcher publish. No one
has right to access it so it is help in getting best possible outcomes with an effective
manner. Here are defined some important methods that support in collecting information
such as questionnaires, case studies, observations, interviews as well as focus group
interviews as well.
Secondary data : In this defined those data which are collected by other person and
used by another individual for the purpose of getting some relevant data regarding
research topic. It is helpful in gathering information within time frame as researcher can
save more time by collecting some relevant data so that actual results can be find out.
In other words, the secondary data generally refers to the data that have already been
gathered and analysed by someone else. Researcher are required to consider some
sources while getting more relevant and specific information as they have to use only
authorised data or publication as well (Smith, 2015) .This includes different modes of
data collection such as books, journals, internet, other sources, print media,
newspapers and many more. It is also beneficial in gathering more relevant information
by considering secondary data regarding employees motivation so that appropriate data
can be gathered.

In this research study, primary data are to be considered for collecting accurate
and specific information so that researcher can get relevant and accurate data and find
better outcomes regarding particular research. This data will be helpful in defining the
employees motivation which can be supportive in increasing higher revenues as well as
profits with the help of collecting adequate information in well manner.
Data sampling :
Sampling play an important role in selection of subset of individual from the
group of statistical population. It is essential in collecting data in which researcher select
sample size of population for the purpose of finding ultimate solutions of particular
problems as well (Bourke, 2014). Data sampling is the statistical analysis method and
techniques which can be used for selecting, manipulating and analysing a
representative subject of data element and also assist in identify the patterns and trends
which can be set for analysed. This can be necessary for analysing various person
views and thoughts in which they can determine the number of observation which are
taken a large number of population. This is used for taking sampling from huge
population and it is mainly depend on type of analysis which is being performed.
Researcher generally consider this method for gathering effective information as how
employees feel after getting adequate motivation and what techniques of motivations
that Aldi can use for increasing its sales volume with appropriate manner. There are two
types of methods of sampling such as:
Probability sampling : It is defined that the types of data sampling method in
which researcher prefer random sampling, cluster sampling, stratified sampling, cluster
sampling and multistage sampling etc. The major benefits of probability sampling
method is that they ensure about chosen sample size for representing of population.
Non-probabilistic sampling: This is one of the key sampling technique where
odds any member is being presented for a sample will not be calculated. It is contrast
from probability sampling in which the investigator can calculate those odds (Bell,
2014). This collectively, the selected groups which investigator select to study that
known as samples. A key trait of this type of sampling technique is that this is being
chosen on the grounds of subjective decision of an investigator despite of random
methods of selection . These have various sorts of sampling including convenience

sampling, Consecutive sampling, Quota sampling and Purposive sampling and snowball
sampling etc. The selection of the methods rely on the choice and convenience of
researcher in regard of accumulation of data (O'Leary, 2017) . This sampling methods
can help in fair selection and representation of population and ease the task of
information gathering from respondents.
Chapter 3: Data Analysis
It is a process which help in investigating, transforming and modelling data and
information for discovering major goals that useful in making appropriate decision. Data
analysis has various facts and approaches which encompassing the different methods
and techniques including names that can be used in business. It is that method which
mainly focus on knowing and analysing the purpose of data and information in better
way. Data analysis is the process for obtaining data and convert it into information
which is useful for developing effective decision. It will help in collecting and gathering
the answer of each question.
Chapter 4: Ethics, Values, Referencing and Presentation
This is essential to understand the ethical consideration which can be mentioned
as one of crucial part where researcher has to undertake some basic ethics to
authentically conduct a research (Davies and Hughes, 2014). This presents a clear
understanding of outcomes which add value to the paper. There are numerous ethical
consideration which investigator should met such as time management, confidentiality
of information and respondents, complying referencing protocols etc. It is ascertain
whether the above mentioned practices are followed accordingly to meet authentic
outcome.
