Abstract
The purpose of the report is to look about the possible solutions & ensuring a higher level of
motivation among all the employees working within the business organization & overcoming the
negative implications of downsizing and closure. The report involves the discussion by including
both the qualitative and quantitative methods that will help in gathering the feedback & views
from all the employees through conducting the surveys. The implementation of the possible
solutions will develop a higher level of strength among all the employees because of which the
diverse customer base will be enhanced. The conclusion in the report will look out that the
adoption, as well as the implementation of the new or unique strategies, will positively motivate
all the organizational employees, effectively & efficiently. The standard recommendations in the

Introduction
The motivated employees help in achieving the defined business goals & objectives effectively
& efficiently within the standard period. But there are various challenges or the problems that are
being faced by the employees & that reduce the level of motivation of all them. In the context of
this, the complete research report is being made in which the problem of downsizing & closure
is being analyzed along with determining of the most effective solution for all the employees
working in the business organization of Sobeys which is the retailer of food in the country of
Canada.

Problem statement & discussion
This statement involves the increasing of the motivation level of all the employees who face the
major challenge of downsizing and closure. The closure of some stores in Sobeys is being
identified as the main issue of closure faced by the employees. The poor condition of the
economy is the main cause of the problem.
The clear discussion is being conducted to analyze the whole problem. It has been founded that
10 stores were being closed by the business organization of Sobeys. This closure has made a
large number of people unemployed (Grabar, Žunac, & Zlatić, 2019). None of the employees
was ready to face this situation & hence the remaining employees in the company have lost their
level of motivation and facing the fear of losing their jobs also from the company.
The problem of closure has made all the employees de-motivated that has given rise to another
problem of downsizing. This problem has reduced the quality level of the work done by the
employees & all the activities performed by them in the business organization. Under this case,
the business organization reduces the number of its employees to maintain its level of
profitability or to stay in the competitive business market (CALK, & PATRICK, 2017). The
business managers of Sobeys are essentially required to develop the motivational level of all the
employees so that the level of confidence in performing the assigned tasks or duties should not
be reduced.
Sobeys decided to close certain stores because it was facing the financial problems & hence
decided to cut down its labor cost so that it can maintain its position in Canada, in terms of the
profitability level.

Methods
The qualitative, as well as the quantitative methods, are being considered as the most appropriate
methods for conducting appropriate research. Various reports & other essential documents were
being founded & analyzed of both the government & the employees to evaluate & properly
measure the relevant data or certain figures with the help of implementing the quantitative
method (TOOLEY, 2018). The conducting of the proper analysis will ensure the better & deep
understanding behind the reason or the main cause of the closure of some organizational stores,
as this problem of downsizing has become very crucial in handling the multiple activities within
the whole business organization.
Apart from this, the personal views & thoughts can be known or discovered by conducting the
effective sessions of the interview with all the employees under the qualitative method. Surveys
can also be presented to all the employees to ensure & enhance the in-depth research. This
method enables to gain the actual first-hand information that makes the complete research more
valuable & effective (Hitchcock, & Stavros, 2017).

Scope
The scope of this research includes the determining of the main cause of the identified challenge,
i.e. closure and downsizing & its negative impact on the employees’ motivational level. During
this situation, it has become very hard for all the employees to ensure the higher standard of
living their lives (Tunstall, 2015). The scope of this research is the proper utilization of the
research methods & providing real-life examples to the employees.

Solution
The best solution to the identified problem is by providing all the employees with higher growth
& the advancement opportunities during the crisis of downsizing & closure. This effective
solution will provide the reason to all the employees to confidently & positively work in the
business organization that can reduce their level of fear as well as the uncertainty regarding their
job in a great manner (Motivating Employees to Act More Securely, 2018).
It has been researched that the maximum numbers of employees are career-oriented & try to grab
those job opportunities that can positively ensure their growth & career. From the data provided
by the social application of LinkedIn, maximum numbers of persons search for those jobs which
are career as well as the growth-oriented (JYOTHI, 2016). The identified solution will provide
the maximum benefits to both the business & the employees. This solution will highly motivate
the employees to not only stay within the organization but also be able to positively enhance the
clear path for the development & promotion.
Along with enhancing & implementing this unique solution or the strategy, Sobeys should target
in diversifying its strong & potential base of all the customers. The whole business will require
the whole team of marketing for this purpose by taking the help of the human resource
