INTRODUCTION
Employee relation plays an important role in overall operations of business. Further, it
include all the factors and elements that help in maintaining employee relations present in
organization which facilitates coordination and cooperation among employees in order to
achieve all the organizational objectives of company. Further, management need to maintain
positive relationship among all the workforce that help in maintaining overall operations of
business. Under this assignment the company which is preferred i.e. ASDA which is largest
supermarket engaged in retail sector having headquarter in England. They further work in
diverse kind of products and services like financial services and mobile phones to clients in all
over the world. Further this assignment discuss about the value importance of employee relation,
fundamental of employee relations, employee rights, duties and obligation of business and all the
positive negative impact of employee relation among different stakeholders that leads to
accomplishment of objectives and goals (Gupta and Kumar ,2012).
TASK 1
P1. Value and Importance of employee relations
HR manager is responsible for creating better relations among employees in ASDA
organisation so that they carried out all the operations in better and prospective manner. Further,
it is essential for whole organizational structure to run their business smoothly without any
problems and issues. Apart from it, is directly related with earning higher productivity level.
Therefore, there are various importance of this process which discuss below:- Work process carried out in smooth manner:- If proper relation among employee is
maintain that facilitates whole team to perform their functions in single direction that
help in increasing the productivity level of employees. Whole work is divided into small
divisions which help in completed the work within specified time period. Enhancing motivation among employees:- Further, staff members in ASDA working
with harmony and in coordinate manner then it such case it will help in boosting up the
morale of employees which facilitates good relationship among superior and
subordinates on the basis of which whole working procedures has been carried out with
best efforts and effectiveness. Reduction in absenteeism:- If employees are rewarded for their performance in ASDA
then they feel motivated and energetic and use their skills and abilities in order to

accomplish daily targets of company. This will further help in reducing absenteeism and
increase productivity in overall operations of business. Dispute management:- ASDA employees are diligent towards their work and they are
not wasting time and efforts for fighting regarding different issues and problems. Instead
of it they focus on completing overall mission and vision and carry out their operations
along with their team members in fluent and better manner. Their is proper chain of
command that specify all the roles responsibilities of employees for which they are fully
accountable (D'Cruz and Noronha ,2010). Positive atmosphere:- Proper employee relations help in making employees free from
tension and stress so that they work in better coordinated manner which emphasis
positive environment among employees that leads to achievement of goals and
objectives. Employees in ASDA are trained and skilled so whenever there is any
problems and issue created it can be easily tackle without any hindrance in operational
efficiency.
Standard objectives:- Employees among the organisation are set with standard
objectives and goals which help in achieving all the objectives and goals of business and
every individuals who are working in ASDA. Management divide the whole work
among employees according to their specialisation so they are properly clear regarding
all the task they need to perform within specified time period.
Therefore, HR manager of ASDA need to establish healthy relations among employees that
allow them to perform all the task in efficient manner.
P2. Fundamentals of employment laws
Their are different types of employment laws that need to be formulated by different
government bodies which has been enforced in different organisation which they need to
compiled at the time of working at any company. HR manager at the time of establishing policies
and procedures required to adhere with all the mandatory laws which has been made for the
protection of employees that allow them to run their operation in better and effective manner.

then they have right to sue against company which dilute their image. Encourage health and safety:- Company must consider health and safety of employees
as its first priority at the time when they comprises of large customer base. ASDA
management must focus on all the health issue in which employee are presently suffer
that feels employees must fresh and calm which leads to effectiveness in their working
operations. Resolution of disputes:- In every organisation they are various circumstances where
disputes and conflicts arises among superior and subordinate which affect their working
conditions also. Therefore, it is important for manager to focus on all issues and discuss
full matter with both the parties that help in evaluating better solutions and reduce all
the barrier that come at the time of completing task and operations.
Equal pay:- This is an mandatory law in which all the employees must be treated with
equal wages that help in satisfying their needs and wants. ASDA is large organisation
where the provision related to minimum wages must be consider by management which
help in retaining the professional employees that allow them to beat all the challenges of
external environment.
Therefore, it is essential for ASDA to keep changes their organisation rules regulation on the
basis legal legislation made by UK government that facilitates protection of employees from
fraudulent trade practices of business.

P3. Different types of rights, duties and obligations of an employer and employee
Employee and employer need to maintain proper relationship in order to carry out overall
operations that help in carry out all the procedures and work process in better and effective
manner. Further there are different types of policies, rights and duties that are linked with both
the employer and employees so there is need for both of them to fulfils their obligations or duties
in better and accurate manner. Three types of management level that need to followed by them
and different responsibilities that are attached to employees of ASDA are described below:-

It is utmost responsibility of employer to establish such type of working environment so
that every worker remain happy and joyful so that better productivity can be obtained
(Luo , Wieseke and Homburg ,2012).
Employer among ASDA must be ensure that their workforce remain satisfied with all the
organisation that will help in creating motivation among the workforce . Further
different type of motivation ways I.e. monetary and non monetary measures that allow
organisation for different group of people accordance with their work performance and
objectivity of business.
Employer also organise different types of training development programmes for all the
employees in order to enhance their skills and abilities in order to carry out overall
business operations of business.
Apart from it, there are certain right and responsibilities that every employees enjoys among
ASDA in order to participate in decision making process various rights employee enjoy are
describe below:- Right to participate:- Every employee and individual member working in ASDA has
proper right to participate in overall decision making process of company. This will also
give them right to express their opinion and viewpoints in order to express their
suggestions in order to fulfilling all the task operations. Right of equal pay:- Every employee has right to get the equal amount of salary in
ASDA organisation. Further, there is no discrimination between male and female
employees at the time of delegating work and responsibilities.
Right against harassment:- This right is generally enforced for the protection of female
employees in which if any female worker face any problems and issues at workplace then
they are free to complain regarding all the misshapenness to management for their own
protection and safety.
Rights of employer of ASDA are stated below:-
Ensure that healthy and strong relationship has been maintain within that particular
environment which help in doing work according to set conception.

both employer and employees in ASDA. Apart from various obligation which need to be
fulfilled by employees and helpful in establishing healthy relationship on the basis of which they
perform their work in best manner on the basis of their capacity and capability. Further each
organisation work in dynamic environment and changes made in external business need to adopt
by company so they able to grab all the external opportunities and reduce all threats coming in
their organisation structure. Every organisation working are different in size and structure
because on the basis of which distinct types of duties and responsibilities that played by every
individual which present by organisation (McCarthy , Reeves and Turner ,2010).
Top management have formulate different types of policies and tactics in order to carry

maintained which described below:- Box A:- This category include all those stakeholder whose main task is to follow all the
instructions which are given to them. Box B:- This level include all those stakeholder that need to follow different types of
strategies but do not contain any power to regulate function on their own. Box C:- These type of stakeholders remain contented and satisfied when their needs and
demand are fulfilled easily.
Box D:- These categories are influenced by all the changes and alteration that taking
place in business environment and if they are satisfied or happy with all the modification
that are done by strategic level then they are free to express their opinion and viewpoints
if they are not comfortable with such changes in organisation structure and affect their
basic needs and wants.

Further, the relation among employees is very important so that conflicts or clashes among
workforce will be reduced in appropriate manner because the negativity and disputes create
barrier in future growth of ASDA. Apart from it, there are both positive and negative impact of

achieve all the goals and objectives in proper manner.
Different positive impact under this process are stated below:-
If proper and strong relation among employees has been maintained in order to develop

basic aim and objective of business is to communicate effectively vision and mission of
ASDA among workforce so that they work are done in accordance with set standards.
Employee relations allow them to satisfy their needs and wants so that organisational
objectives can be fulfilled easily which allow them to boost up their morale and there is
no dissatisfaction arises among employees which help in maintaining better employee
relations in better and effective manner.
If relation among superior and subordinate is good then they easily discuss all the issues
and problem they suffer in working operations and express freely all the opinion and
viewpoints through which they sort out all problems easily without any conflicts in
future.
Better relations among workforce allow leaders to maintain team spirit in working
atmosphere so at the time when coordination and harmony required it can easily be
gained because of mutual understanding and team goals that leads to accomplishment of
organisation objectives easily and enhance the skills ability of whole employees.
Organisation help in establishing all better basis for them so that they are able to perform
their task and operations for longer period of time so that no confusion and conflicts has
been arises among employees of ASDA so no overlapping is created. Further proper relation among employees allow them to maintain ethical trade practices
and avoid unethical and fraudulent practices in ASDA. Apart from it there are different
unfavourable events that occur in organisation which needs to be corrected for better
outcomes and productivity in business.
Negative impact of employee relations are described below:-
If the relation among employees are not designed or constructed in proper manner then different
