INTRODUCTION
Employee relations refers to the company's efforts to manage relationships between
employees and employers in the organisation. This creates a positive environment and motivates
staff to be dedicated towards their work in order to achieve organisational goals. In this report
chosen organisation is Food for Thought. It is a vegetarian and a vegan restaurant located at
Seven Dials district in London, (UK). This assignment includes various topics such as various
mechanisms for managing employment relationship and analysis of different types of rights,
duties and obligations an employer and employee has within the respective organisation. Along
with this it also includes stakeholders role to support employment relationship and advantage and
disadvantage of employees relationship.
TASK 1
P1 Explain the value and importance of employee relations in application to specific
organisational examples.
Employee Relations refers to the efforts of the company to manage and develop proper
relationship between employers and employees at respective organisation. Their should be fair
treatment of employees which motivates them to perform effectively and achieve organisational
goals. In every organisation employee relations is the most important as it leads to proper and
successful operations of business. Management should maintain effective and healthy
relationship between employee and employer in order to enhance moral of employees which in
turn increases productivity of organisation (Frone and Trinidad, 2012). Food for thought
conducts strong employee relations through which they are able to avoid conflicts among the
employees and maintains a healthy atmosphere in the organisation. As the respective
organisation is a restaurant, manager should conduct fair treatment among employees so that
they becomes loyal and work effectively towards the organisation and increase its productivity.
In order to maintain effective relationships among employees, respective organisation should
conduct various activities such as -

Appreciate the employees for good performance- When the employees are rewarded
for high performance, it makes them motivated to perform better as well as maintains
good relationships with other employees in the respective organisation.
Encourage work life balance- Respective organisation should make balance between
the work allocated to perform as well as time for other aspects of life. This would reduce

Communicate clear vision and mission statement to the staff- Employees should be

the motivation and the satisfaction level of employees which makes them dedicated
towards their work and increases productivity. Employees of the respective organisation
feels happy and satisfied and treat their customer's well, thereby increasing productivity

employment law that is followed by Food for Thought which are described below-
Minimum wage act- This act is established in United kingdom and every company has
implemented at their work place. According to this laws wages of employees depends on
their ability and age. minimum wage an employees get are £7.83 per hour for those
workers whose age is above 25, staff's aged between 21 to 24 get £7.38 per hour and
£5.90 per hour are fixed for individuals aged 18 to 20. Respective organisation follow
this act in order to provide proper wages to their employee's and workers(Hameed,
Ramzan and Zubair, 2014). This act will ensure that Food for thought hotel wuill provide
appropriate wages to its employees.
Equality act- This act came under regulation in year 2010 by the parliament of United
kingdom. Main purpose of this act is reduce and minimise discrimination among
employees on the basis of age, gender, income and provide equal treatment to all its
employees. Managers of Food for Thought should treat all the employees equally and
reduce discrimination among employees which helps in reducing conflicts. on the
adoption of this act, employees at Food for Thought feel happy and satisfied with their
work and serve the customers well.
Health and safety act- This act comes into action in the year 1974 and it includes
obligations regarding proper health, safety and welfare of employees at work place.
Manager of Food for thought ensure effective training to its employees so that they
enable to perform better as well as conducts regular maintenance of equipments at the
restaurant which the employees will be using at the organisation. This will help the

organisation. Employees should not be discriminated on the basis of age. Disability and
gender. This act ensures Food for thought to provide proper and fair treatment to its
employees and this enhances the employees to increase their productivity level.
Race relationship act- This act addresses the issues related to racial discrimination on the
basis of colours, race, ethnic or national origins. When employees at Food for thought are
discriminated on the basis of their colours or race greatly dissatisfies them and will affect
efficiency in their work. Therefore Food for thought should ensure that employees should
be discriminated on the basis of race and mangers at respective restaurant should provide
fair treatment to all its employees and makes them highly satisfied.

organisation when the employees started working unproductively and doesn't fulfils customer
demands. This leads to loss of share of market for the respective restaurant. Here the employers
should monitor the performance of employees and develops some HR practices which helps
them to perform its operations ethically and maintains effective relation in the organisation.

Stake holder analysis- Stakeholder can be an individual or teams who are from within
and outside the organisation and can affect and support the operations of the business. It is very
