INTRODUCTION
Employee relation introduce to an organization's efforts to maintain strong relationship
employer and employee. Good relation with employees may provide healthy and fair treatment
to all the workforce so that they can highly committed towards the job roles. It is important for
company to maintain positive relation with their workers in order to make them loyal and
productive. In this regards, HR manager also play a crucial role in managing positive relation
with employees so that they can put their best efforts (Kang and Sung, 2017). As it also include
the behaviour of different stakeholders as they are the crucial for company in completing entire
functional activities in an effective way. Mainly, a stakeholders is the person who is directly
affected by organization. This is the reason that company is responsible for treating their
stakeholders effectively so that they support them in establishing positive brand image. Current
report is based on Walmart, is a famous American multinational retail company that operate their
chain of hypermarkets, grocery stores, discount department in over the world. The main focus of
this business organization to maintain better employee relation that influence the behaviour of
stakeholders. This report is going to explain the value and importance of employee relations
along with fundamentals of employment law.

Value and importance of employees relations in organizational context
Employee relation play a significant role in business organisation as it may assist in developing
positive and healthy working environment wherein each and every worker perform their task to
accomplishing their targets in stipulated time frame. In this, human resource manager also
responsible for managing employees working activities so that they can easily perform well and
also improve its efficiency level. Along with this, manager also encourage employees to share
their views with them. This will directly contribute in creating positive and healthy relation
among manager and employee as well. In addition of this, one of the main crucial factors that
either improves or spoils the relationship among employees. In business organization, employer
and employee relation is important for each and every individual who shares a value with his
senior and co-workers at the working area (Wu and et. Al., 2016). Furthermore, both employee
and employer are responsible for share a healthy relationship with each other that support in
improving their best performance. In context of Walmart, maintaining employee relation is

crucial as it increase productivity level, reduce employee turnover, create healthy relation among
manager and employee, increase motivation level, develop healthy working environment, reduce
conflicts and many more. All these directly contributes in improving overall performance of
company and its employees as well.

There are various employment laws which help in protecting employees’ rights so that they
perform well and attain their target without facing any kind of issues. Mainly, it also covers all
rights and obligations within the employer and employee relationship within the company. As it
assists in reduce complexities among all the employees that support in improving employee
preformation at workplace. As there are some different laws that can be implement by company
in managing positive relation:
Discrimination: It is one of the effective laws that used by business organization in which they
provide equal opportunities to entire employees and also ensure that no one discriminate on the
basis of age, race, gender, culture at working area (Park and Levy, 2014). In this regard, Walmart
is also following this type of employment law that support in keeping them more satisfied with
their job roles and at the same time also retain them for longer period of time.
Workplace safety: This type of law is also crucial for company as it focus on providing
proper safety to each and every worker so that they work effectively and improve their efficiency
level. With safety rules employee get stressed and do their task activities along with pressure.
This may negatively impact over the company and its workers as well. This it is crucial for
Walmart to follow this regulation at working area so that entire workforce feel safe and secure at

and laws so that they can work under these regulations for positive results. Therefore, some of
the rights are stated below for better understanding:
Fair Treatment: In an organization, employers and employees both plays a crucial role for the
betterment of the company. According to the superiority, employers have control over their
employees to some context. Employers cannot use their powers for their personal entertainment
this can demotivate workers and can result in less productivity of employees (Farooq, Rupp and
Farooq, 2017).
1. Thus, proper and fair treatment should be provided to workers and there should be mutual
respect for each other. Walmart, should provide opportunities to its employees according
to their talents and commitment for the work they are doing. For example: Company
should shuffle their employees or freshers with the talented co-workers who are not only
experienced in their respective fields but also better in providing guidelines. Along with
this, superiors must also look no poor treatment and discrimination is being done.
2. Safety: In a company, safety is the prior concern of employees and corporation must
ensure better working environment is provided. Organisation must make sure that all the
machineries, systems etc., are safely installed. For example: Walmart, must have
workplace fire exits for evacuation of employees as well as customers during fire
emergency. Therefore, in the training process company must provide information
regarding precautions to be taken in backup.
3. Flexible working hours: Man is a workaholic but there should be a flexible working
hour so that more productive outcomes can be gained. Employer should be provided with
a benefit of choosing their shifts according to their comfort. As per the government rules
no employee can work for more than 42 hours a week. For example: Superiors of
Walmart should make sure that employer is not putting any kind of burden on employees
regarding their working hours beyond their capacity.
The Minimum Wages Acts: Whatever work a person does, it is important that they are provided
with minimum wages which is appropriate according to their work. Government of United
Kingdom has set a limit for the same (Adam Cobb, 2016).

if work is done over time. If any organisation denies to follow these rules than they might
face some serious problems such as shutdown of the respective company.

have certain psychological contract that defines the relationship between employee and employer
(De Roeck. and Maon, 2018). Therefore, corporation make contract according to the mutual
understanding and expectation such as pay scale, expectations, working hours etc., Like other
factors communication is the key element of a psychological contract because in a way it is being
delivered it can develop interest or vice versa. Through psychological contracts chaos and
misunderstanding can be avoided. For example: there are many companies in which managers
can misuse their powers and might turn the table upside down. Thus, this helps organisation in
having some control over activities. Important information can be regulated with employees in
quick time. Henceforth, psychological contract is important for both employee and employer in
order to safeguard breaches. This creates transparency between workers.
Good employee relation shows that positive outcomes of a company. This signifies that
co-workers shares a healthy relation with one another. Walmart, in their organisation must
develop better relations and along with this they should also be able to manage relations if they
are hampered. This can be understood with certain examples like when employee does not work

Positive impact:

company this can assist organisation in making more profits (Newman, Nielsen and Miao, 2015)
For example: appraisal to sales person by the manager of Walmart can result in increase of sales.
By looking at the performance of the company, external stakeholders like investors can invest
more money for better profit shares.

employees can feel aloof or alienated at workplace and its consequences can give rise to
conflicts and tension. For example: biased nature towards a particular employee even
though he/she is not performing the task effectively. Therefore, stakeholders are required
to be monitored if any such kind of activities is being performed in the company or not.
These kinds of action can lead to have a negative impact on business as sales can get
down, losses can be face by company etc.,

From the above-mentioned report, it has been evaluated that employee relation play a crucial
role in business organization as it helps in improving workers productivity level and at the same
time also build positive working environment. As it also affects the behaviour of stakeholders
because they are the main part of company and give their involvement in organizational
activities. For this company also provide better training and development activities so that they
improve their performance and also develop positive and healthy working environment at
workplace.
