INTRODUCTION OF THE BUSINESS
In the present case, owner has started a business of clothing in UK and recently only two
members of the staff have been hired. The owner needs to recruit four other staff members who can
help in delivering services to the clients. However, prior recruiting, the owner desires to organize
induction programme so that employees can derive appropriate information about roles and
responsibilities of employer and employee.
P1 Rights and Responsibilities of employers in the clothing firm Contracts of employment: Contract of employment should consider basic as well as
important information about employees and that should be endorsed by employer and
employee both. It should also mention rate of pay, hours of working and availability of
leaves (Leone, 2011). Health and Safety: Employer has the duty to maintain the workplace in safe condition and
for such aspect, the owner should also ensure that fire exists are not blocked, emergency
equipment is serviceable and workplace is clean. Organizational practices: Employer has to ensure that employees have adequate
information and instruction about work management (Whittaker and Zimmermann, 2000). The Equality Act 2010: Employers must have to treat all the employees in equal manner and
there should not be any sort of discrimination for them.
Role of Trade Union for employee rights: Legal procedure is required to be followed by the
owner in case of any conflicts, grievances and redundancy. Employee rights should be
properly delivered to them (Weiss, 2003).
