made to protect the rights and interest of the employees working in the organization and
thus, creating healthy relations between the employers and the employees and increasing
the productivity and profitability of the business. Being a store assistant manager in an
outlet of Tesco, a large multinational company in the UK, a report is prepared to determine
the rights and responsibilities of employees in an organization. The report focuses on the
role of an employee and principles of code of conduct in an organization and also explains
the public issues that affect an organization or an industry. The second part of the report
emphasizes on the statutory rights and responsibilities of an employer and employee and
the procedures that protect the employee relations and lastly the sources of information in
the rights and responsibilities of employment will be identified in the report.

I work as a store assistant manager at the Tesco retail store. Tesco is categorized under
retail industry. At the store, my job role is to support and provide assistance to the store

sources to my organization. These Internal sources provide me appropriate advice on
several things like career prospect, training, laws and legislation, employment issues and
any other kind of support that may be required at any point in my career.
The internal sources are those that are present within my organization such as my peers,
superiors, subordinates or line manager. The HR department of the company communicates
essential information to all the employees through official notice. Moreover, the official
website of Tesco could also be used to access certain information at any time. Another
source of information within my organization could be our staff intranet that could provide
useful information about the job opportunities, changes in employment policies, events,
training and development opportunities as well as upcoming events within the organization.

Personal presentation: An employee must dress professionally maintaining the standards of
the organization and must look clean and take care of their personal hygiene. The staff at
the Tesco stores must look presentable wearing the particular dress code and treat the
customers with positive attitude and be polite to them (Wellin, 2016).
Punctuality: The punctuality of the staff is very important to maintain professionalism at the
workplace. The employees must reach the workplace on time and come back from the lunch
and other breaks on time and should not delay their presence in any meeting and must
leave the workplace on time (Wellin, 2016).
Employee behaviour: An employee must be polite, trustworthy, helpful, professional, loyal,
attentive, honest, welcoming, confident, considerate and reliable and be able to work

Personal presentation: An employee must dress professionally maintaining the standards of
the organization and must look clean and take care of their personal hygiene. The staff at
the Tesco stores must look presentable wearing the particular dress code and treat the
customers with positive attitude and be polite to them (Wellin, 2016).
Punctuality: The punctuality of the staff is very important to maintain professionalism at the
workplace. The employees must reach the workplace on time and come back from the lunch
and other breaks on time and should not delay their presence in any meeting and must
leave the workplace on time (Wellin, 2016).
Employee behaviour: An employee must be polite, trustworthy, helpful, professional, loyal,
attentive, honest, welcoming, confident, considerate and reliable and be able to work
independently as well as in teams to increase their productivity and maintain the
professional standards of the organization (Wellin, 2016).
Therefore, the employees of Tesco are expected to be well presentable, punctual and have
positive attitude so that they deal with the customers efficiently and increase the
satisfaction of their seniors and the customers of the organization.
