management department (Georgiadis and Pitelis, 2016). Training mainly determines as a
systematic procedure where employees are directed or instructed towards technical knowledge
related to a specific job profile. Training is effective in teaching employees how to use a specific
resource or machine for attempting a specific task. Kingfisher Plc is the chosen organisation for
this particular research as it is a British Multinational retailing company, the headquarter of the
firm is in London. with its regional operators that are located around the United Kingdom and
Republic Ireland. The key motive of the firm is to enhancing productivity and performance
through providing proper guidance to their employees at work place (Anitha and Kumar, 2016).
Training plays vital role in making improvement in the operations of employee’s performance
through developing their skills and capabilities at work place.
Significance of the Research
The research into consideration is based on the impact of employee training and
development on employee productivity. This is a wide area of academic research, which
provides a wider area to the researcher and learner towards enhancing idea and knowledge base
towards the specified area of work (Travkin and Sharunina, 2016). This is an effective issue in an
organisational context and requires to be overcome by the businesses in respect to enhancing the
productivity and performance of employees. This study plays effective role in developing the
personal as well as professional knowledge of individual, thus this study provides assistance
towards development of professional and well as personal ability regarding the chosen area of
work.

As per the views expressed by Muhammad Maimuna, 2013, Training is an imperative
aspect of management studies, thus in today's modern business environment, the key
consideration of businesses is to implementing training sessions for the purpose of developing
the ability and skills of people at work place (Hassan, 2016). As businesses try to survive in the
turbulent dynamic market and strong accent must be laid on human capital in respect to be

competitive and financially solvent. However, there are other factors that affect organizations’
success; organizations must possess productive. Training is referred as a systematic approach of
learning and development which is effective in improvising an individual, group and
organization performance (Noe and et. al., 2017). In another words, Training is the organized
path in which businesses provide development and enhance quality of new and existing
employees.
Research Methodology
This part refers to a plan or design of activities that help in making an investigation in
systematic way, by using a number of techniques (Hanaysha, 2016). It includes primary
technique that helps in conducting survey to gather original and reliable information; secondary
method for collection of published or unpublished data which has already gathered by other
researchers to address present issues of project. The present project has been designed in
following manner –
Data collection: It includes methods which are used for data collection such as primary
and secondary sources that provides a number of ways to gather specific information from
reliable sources. In order to accumulate primary information, questionnaire, online survey and
group discussion method can be used, which provides more effective result. While, under
secondary source books, magazines and other published information can be used. Hereby, for
reviewing published information and making proper analysis on the same, researchers have used
secondary data collection process to address present research issues.
Qualitative and quantitative research: These methods provide a way of understanding
the data which has gathered by primary and secondary sources. Qualitative research is based on
theoretical information to conduct descriptive analysis while, quantitative concerns on analysing
fact-based information in statistical way. Under present project, qualitative research technique is
used to analyse the importance of training procedure for employee development in chosen
company i.e. Kingfisher Plc.
Research philosophy: This concept of research methodology is designed to determine
approaches that are needed to adopt for addressing research issues. It includes positivism that
helps in generalising the information on fact-based data, while interpretivisim is used to
understand the psychological strategies that a company is used for attainment of its growth and

objectives. Therefore, in this research, interpretivisim philosophy is used to apply qualitative
approach for analysing secondary information on chosen topic.
Research approach: It provides approaches like inductive and deductive for analysing the
gathered information. Here, deductive starts on basis of hypothesis for testing the existing theory.
While inductive approach is used to generate a new concept to narrow the scope of project. Since
deductive approach requires a number of resources therefore, respective project is made by
adopting inductive research approach.
Results and Outcome
It has been summarised from this assignment that employee development is the main
function of a company, which helps in attainment a high competitive advantage. This would also
help in getting high contribution of workers for achieving business objectives. For this purpose,
the main factor that helps Kingfisher Plc, in increasing the productivity of its employee is
training and development procedure. Here, as per demand of dynamic business, organising such
programs like apprenticeship, on-line and off-line trainings will help in not only increase the
present skills, but also develop high abilities of workers to face future challenges. From the
various researchers’ point of view, it has also been identified that there is a high correlation
between employees’ productivity and training program, because programs which is organised for
workers aid them in reducing weaknesses and developing abilities to adopt changes in business
environment.

CONCLUSION
It has been concluded from this project that to investigate a topic and make different analysis
on the gathered information, a researcher is required to adopt a number of researcher skills. This
would help in analysing published or unpublished data to analyse a specific project and address
main issues. Along with this, having effective managerial skills, researchers gain opportunity
obtain more effective information on the basis of information which is gathered by using a
number of research methodologies.
