CASE STUDY – EMPLOYMENT DILEMMA 2
Case Study – Employment Dilemma
1. What would you do if you were in Aljazee’s place? Please list four approaches that you
will take to ensure that you can replace these employees efficiently?
Communication – It is very important for Aljazee to effectively communicate to the
Philippines employees who are being expatriated. The employees must be explained to the
reason why the company has to implement those changes in a way in which they will understand.
Aljazee must thank the employees for the services they offered to the company and ensure each
of the employees is comfortable with what they have been told (Hayes, 2014). These employees
have to be given ample notice before they leave and they must be paid all their dues.
Change Management- Aljazee must inform the members of the organization of the
changes that are about to take place. This is very important as it will prepare managers and the
rest of the stuff of why some employees must be let go and others come in (Hayes, 2014). Any
resistance to change must be handled professionally by Aljazee and her team.
Employee Induction- In order to ensure that the employees can be replaced efficiently,
Aljazee must put in place an effective induction process. The new employees must undergo
induction for a certain period so that they get familiar with the organization’s processes and ways
(Bolman & Deal, 2017). This will enable the new employees to gel into the organization and
begin work without difficulties.
Employee Training- Employee training for the new employees will be a must if they are
to fit into their new roles. They must be trained in how they will manage the front office desk in
an effective manner. Training will, therefore, be done before the employees work (Bolman &
Deal, 2017). In-house training will also be carried out by the front office managers so that they

make sure the employees are aligned with organizational goals and they understand how they
need to perform their work.
2. What are some of the policies you will need to implement in order for your employees to
be ready to work?
New Employee Onboarding Policy- This policy will have details on how new employees
are on-boarded into Al Azziza Hotel and the processes they have to go through before settling
into the organization. It includes things that will be done in the induction process like making the
employee familiar with the premises and the type of forms they will have to fill, for example,
employee bio-data, medical forms and any other necessary forms (Bratton & Gold, 2017). It also
includes issues on how their placement will be done and who will be expected to train them
when they are new.
Personnel Policy – The personnel policy will list everything that concerns Al Azziza
hotel and affects the employee directly. This will include rules on reporting time, leave,
absenteeism and sick off. It will also define how employees are meant to behave while at work
and their working hours. It will provide a guideline to the employee on reporting lines and how
they should handle any grievances they may have (Cascio, 2018). The personnel policy will also
outline the type of disciplinary measures that will be taken if set down policies are flouted.
Health and Safety Policy –This is a very important policy and new employees of Al
Azziza must be taken through as they join the company. It outlines all hazards and guides
employees on precautions to be taken. It further highlights emergency procedures and any health
related matters that employees must be aware of (Bratton & Gold, 2017). This policy will enable

the employees to be aware of their surroundings and know what they should be cautious about. It
will also help them to know how they will react when in a crisis.
3. What some of the training program you would put in place to ensure that your
employees are not being set to fail? Be clear and concise with your responses
Company Policy Training – The new employees will have to be trained on the company
policies of Al Azziza Hotel. This is essential as it will enable the employees to know the finer
details about the company and what exactly will be expected of them. It will also give them a
chance to ask questions that they may have concerning the company. The employees will also be
able to understand grievance handling procedures of the company (Sharma & Sharma, 2016).
Also included in this training will be facts and history about the company and the direction the
company is taking in terms of strategy and vision.
Front Office Management Training – The new employees will have training on front office
management. This will enable them to understand exactly how Al Azziza wants its front office handled
in a professional manner. It will also enable them to handle their job descriptions as they will understand
each role that has been laid out on the same (Hanaysha, 2016). The front office will be very vital as it will
enable the new employees to feel confident and comfortable in beginning their new roles.
Customer Service Training – Customer service training is key in the hospitality industry.
It actually makes or breaks a business. There must be an emphasis on great customer service and
employees will, therefore, be taught how to offer stellar service to customers. Employees will be
taught things like phone etiquette, handling all customer types and how to seek and provide

feedback to customers (Sharma & Sharma, 2016). Employees who are confident in customer
