STRATEGIES OF COMMUNICATION

Subject: Use of public transit for commuting to office
Introduction
The Ministry of the Environment has started a new initiative known as the Clean Air
initiative, which gives incentives to different companies so that they can encourage their
employees to use public transport as opposed to their private cars. I know this might be
quite an issue for many of you in the company as using private cars is much more easier.
However, I would like you to keep an open mind regarding the issue and understand my
reasoning for asking you to support the initiative.
Reasons to support Clean Air Initiative
A major part of the workforce uses their private cars to office since it’s much easier
and convenient. However, I know that there are problems related to the convenience as
well. Using private cars may be easier but it causes a lot of harmful effects to the
environment and I know that all of you would help me in making this small change so that
each one of us can do something good for our nature and environment.
The main reason for supporting this initiative is the necessity to show that we are an
environment friendly company. In the current times, due to the grave danger that the
environment possesses, it is of utmost important that each one of us makes small
contributions to bring a slight change in the environment, whose degradation impacts all of
us. It is a known fact that the more number of vehicles in the city would mean more number
of emissions of harmful gases would create a bad impact on the environment. If you would
stop using your public transports and take public transit to office, it would help reduce a
little harmful effect and the same goes for those companies which will support the initiative
along with us (Golub & Martens, 2014).
Secondly, you save your money which was otherwise being spend on fuel for you
private cars. This is because the initiative gives incentives to the employees for using public

transit and hence you do not have to pay for the public transport from you own pocket. You
would just be using the incentive that has been given to you (Efthymiou, Antoniou &
Waddell, 2013). This would save a lot of your money since you would just be using the extra
money given by the company for commuting to and from the office. Thirdly, you would also
save a lot of time since it take a lot of time to take out your car, and then park it in the right
place when you reach office. Even though some of you may have designated parking spaces,
many of the employees do not and most of their time in the morning is wasted in finding a
suitable parking spot in this crowded city (Stelzer et al., 2016). This time can be saved if you
take public transit, since you would just have to take the transportation from your house
and it drops you right in front of the office. This is a great advantage of using public
transport that they have a stop right intrant of the office and hence much time is not
wasted. Moreover, your car would also be safe from any trashing or other damage that is
mostly done by youngsters or beggars when you leave them in the parking lot for a whole
day (Redman et al., 2013).
Conclusion
I would like all of you to actually think over the matter and the strength of the reasons that I
have provided in my mail. I would like nothing more than to make your life easier and I feel
that this is a step both towards having and easy life and also to give a little contribution for
the betterment of the environment. Kindly revert back with your valuable opinions on the
matter.
Cordially.
