6 Research into Transportation and global change into transportation
6.1 Overview of the transportation system in Australia.
The transport system in Australia involves the use of buses, ferries especially in regions close to
water, and trains. Air transport services are also available for those who can manage the cost.
Taxi and Uber services are common especially in towns and cities and are mostly found in
locations such as train stations, hospitals, tourist attraction terminuses, hotels, and airports. Even
though these are easily accessible, the cost of taxi services is actually high in Australia (Lavina,
2005). These prices are always not negotiable and are usually determined by the meter which
displays prices relevant to the distance traveled. Uber is the most recent means of public

transport and is preferred by many as it is cheap as long as you have your phone, you can place
an order on where to be picked and taken to.
The rural areas of Australia do not, however, have several transport options as urban centers. It
is therefore important for one to make sure that they have relevant information on local bus
services being offered. The railway transport networks, especially in Melbourne and Sydney,
perform thousands of trips per day in the movement of people and goods. Even though some of
the transport systems in Australia are costly, they are usually secure and well maintained. It is
usually rare to overload and it is punishable by law making it even better in avoiding accidents
(Rasch et al, 2013).
6.2 Government planning and setting according to Transportation problem in
Queensland.
Queensland has one of the greatest and diverse transport systems in Australia. This is of great
importance in the growing economy of the country. In order to achieve a safe, reliable and
efficient transport system in Queensland, the government of Australia thus encourages economic
expansion and prioritizes the views of the people in carrying out changes related to transport
management and planning (Male et al, 2011). This strategy ensures that arising issues are dealt
with adequately to deliver quality transport services to the people of Queensland. There are plans
put in place by the Queensland Transport Policy that will deal with challenges and offer
opportunities in the transport network in the near future. This will be made easier by
technological advancements which will aid in achieving waste emission reduction to the
atmosphere, reducing congestion and improving the services delivered through the transport
system (McCalla, 1999).
