Section 3:
Introduction paragraph
The objective of this assessment is to provide an annotated bibliography on the basis of the
provided journal articles. These articles would assist in analysing the roles of the engineering
managers for achieving the effective Sustainable engineering management. Sustainability can be
achieved in engineering management in various ways. One of these is by applying responsible and
professional judgement and taking up the leadership role. The profession of engineering involves
a very strong ethical element. One of the crucial roles of engineering mangers is to provide
solution to various issues such as under-development, poverty and degradation of the
environment. Hence these engineers, in order to attain effective sustainable management, should
firstly look at the picture or the situation in broad. Next, they should focus on ensuring that the
sustainable development knowledge possessed by them is up-to-date, and should be well
prepared to impact a project’s decision-maker. All the decision-maker’s options of the project and
the issues should be clearly identified and it should be ensured that the decisions are sound and
apt. the engineering managers should determine the options which consider the social,
environmental and economic results and should make sure that the options and solutions that are
offered would contribute towards the sustainability.
