Mechanical engineer is one of the jobs that represent manufacturing industry. In a
manufacturing company the mechanical engineer is responsible for designing machines such
as elevators, electric generators and internal combustion engines. Potential hazards to
mechanical engineers include falls and noise hazards. The OSHA regulations provide that
mechanical engineers must wear hard hats and steel-toed shoes to protect them from falling
objects, and earplugs to protect them from excessive noise (Grant & Hinze, 2014). The
employers will ensure safety and health of mechanical engineers by proving them with
earplugs, steel-toed shoes and hard hats in advance for them to carry out their duties. The
mechanical engineers will ensure their safety by putting on steel-toed shoes, hard hats and
earplugs whenever they are carrying out tasks assigned to them in the company.
Mining engineering is a job that represents the mining industry. In the mining
company, the mining engineer is responsible for ensuring that minerals are safely extracted
by ascertaining extraction risks. The major hazards for mining engineers include airborne,
noise and heat hazards. The OSHA regulations provide that the mining engineering should be
provided with face mask and ear plugs to protect them from airborne and noise hazards
respectively. Also, the regulations provide that the mechanical engineers should work for less
than eight hours a day to protect them against heat hazards. The employers should ensure that
the employees are provided with earplugs and facemask in advance. Also, the employers
should ensure that the mining engineers work on shifts to protect them against heat hazards.
The employees should ensure that they put on face masks and ear plugs every time they are
on duty for their safety.
Foreman is a job that represents a construction industry. In a construction company,
the foreman is responsible for organizing tools, machines and supervising the construction

activities. The major hazards for foreman include slips, moving objects and falls hazards. The
OSHA regulations provide that the walkaways in the construction site should be kept free of
obstacles to protect against slip hazards (Jung & Makowsky, 2014). Also, the regulations
stipulate that the rigging equipment’s used in the construction site should be in good
condition to protect against moving objects hazards and lastly, foremen should put on steel-
toed shoes to protect against falls hazards. Employers can ensure employees safety by first,
facilitating the training of employees on rigging procedures. Second, the employer’s must
ensure that employees are provided with steel-toed shoes and lastly, ensure that the
walkaways areas are cleared before the construction commences. The employees will have to
put on the steel-shoes provided to them while on duty and participate in rigging procedure
training. Also, employees will clear the walkaways areas before they begin construction.
Plant breeder is a job that represents the agricultural industry. In agricultural
company, the plant breeder is responsible for improving plant breeding techniques through
scientific research. The main hazards for a plant breeder include respiratory hazards and noise
hazards from tractors in the farm. The OSHA regulations provide that these employees
should put on face masks and earplugs to protect against respiratory and noise hazards
respectively. The employers must therefore ensure that these employees are provided with
earplugs and face masks in advance. The employees must ensure that they put on the face
masks and earplugs whenever they are on duty.
Executive chef is a type of job that represents hospitality industry. In a hospitality
company, the executive chef will hire and train food preparation workers. The major hazards
for these employees include cutting equipment, slips and falls hazards. The OSHA
regulations provide that machine guards should be used by these employees to prevent
cutting equipment hazards. The regulations also provide that the spills should be cleaned
immediately to prevent falls and slips. The employers should therefore provide these

employees with machine guards in advance and encourage them clean spills on timely basis.
The employees should ensure they use machine guards whenever they are using cutting
equipment. Also, employees should take responsibility of cleaning spills immediately to
avoid slips and falls hazards.
