Describe how effectively you managed your time while working in a team project.
While completing the team project each of our members initially planned our tasks
and established a specified timeline for achieving those tasks. Further, depending upon our
expertise and skills the work was categorised among each of us to distribute the daily tasks
and attain the maximum efficiency in our work output (Larson and Gray, 2017). In order to
effectively manage the time the daily tasks and long term tasks were divided as per their
priorities.
With the help of a productivity tool, Eisenhower matrix, every task was organized
into four categories which are based on its importance and urgency (Cleden, 2017). Every
interruption like interaction with mobile phones was minimized to get rid of any hindrance
towards achieving the tasks within a specified time. Most importantly, while planning for the
deadlines of each task, shorter deadlines were produced intentionally to keep the project
schedule tight and save some time for rectification and save the struggle from finishing the
task in a hurry which would further produce a lower quality of work output.
At the end of each day, each of us team member gathered and summarized our works.
The lists produced at the beginning are check listed on a daily basis and each copy was
distributed among team members to organize better for the next day. With the help of project
tools like timesheets and online report were able to track down our efficiency of achieving
the project objectives in real time which helped us in keeping a track of valuable time and
focus on delivering before the scheduled deadline.
What do you know by the term engineering ethics? To comply with engineering ethics,
what should be your role in an engineering organization?
According to Trabia et al. (2016), a field of a system that is formed by moral principle
and can be applied to the engineering practice are termed as engineering ethics. This field of
system is responsible for examining and setting the obligations for the engineers who perform
for their clients, society and to the profession. For fulfilling the professional duties within an
engineering organization it is utmost necessary for me to follow certain roles such as:
Holding paramount the safety and welfare of society
Performing services in my area of competence
Issuing public statements in the most truthful and objective manner

Act for each client or employer as faithful trustees or agents.
Avoiding deceptive actions
Conducting myself honourably, ethically, responsibly and lawfully in order to
enhance the reputation, honour and usefulness of the profession.
In order to comply with engineering ethics as an engineer in an organization, I would
be abiding certain values such as loyalty, collegiality, collective bargaining and respect the
authority. I would act in accordance with the procedures, policies and moral tone set by the
management which will help in addressing conflict resolution. My role will include fulfilling
the contractual duties set by the employer by entirely depending upon their own actions and
not involving into the act of thief from my employer (Hyun, 2017). Further, I would maintain
a work environment where authority and responsibility will be shared among colleagues.
Being an engineering profession I should possess respect for authority and identify the areas
of personal accountability and responsibility. At the time of arguments and conflicts, I would
try to call for negotiation and establish collective bargaining to maintain harmony among the
members at the workplace.
How will you demonstrate your oral and written communication skill? Give examples.
The oral and written communication skill is much important for communicating
effectively in the workplace and provide me with an opportunity to excel in my profession. I
have acquired a good listening skill which will help me in paying attention to the details of
any communication received (Brink and Costigan, 2015). By producing an effective body
language I will demonstrate my communication skills to be proficient. I will take care of my
eye contact, tone of voice and hand gestures to convey a message most effectively. Also
paying attention to the nonverbal signals of the recipient will help me in bringing clarity and
concision in establishing great oral communication. Interacting with confidence and
maintaining a friendliness tone will help me to establish open and honest communication
(Coffelt et al. 2016). Also, I will mind conveying my respect towards my colleagues and
senior. Further by paying attention to the feedback to improve my communication skill in
future.
In the case of written communication, I will make sure to interpret any content with details
and analyse the content with time. This will help me in bringing clarity to the conversation
and also understand the recipient concern accurately. As written communication is absent of

any face to face and body language I will be taking care of any doubts by reverting a clear
message to the sender (Coffelt et al. 2016). Also, I will continuously look for the most
appropriate ways for providing a constructive written message be it through e-mail, memo,
formal letters, proposal or faxes.
Describe the different criteria of a smart city? Mention some approaches to reduce
urban contributions to global warming
Kylili and Fokaides (2015) stated that a smart city is the latest concept in the urban
lifestyle that uses Information and communication technology as well as internet of things
(IoT) sensors in order to collect data and use them to manage resources and assets efficiently.
The following mentioned criteria’s are very essential for a smart city:
Smart Energy: it helps in providing a deep insight into net power consumption by
residents, commercial and buildings. IoT will help to improve the optimization of
power as well as the effective distribution of the energy produced.
Smart transportation: Technology is used in order to reduce the traffic and pollution
associated with it. Cars with renewable energy will protect the environment and
smart traffic system will reduce the chances of accidents (Hara et al. 2016).
Smart data: technology can be used to collect various data related to the amenities
used by the public. These data can be analyzed to get the insights of the people
staying there.
Smart waste management: These uses sensors that are present inside the bins and can
send notifications when these bins are full (Kylili and Fokaides, 2015). This helps the
unnecessary cost of cleaning every bin in the city. Thus the waste collecting trucks
can clean the selective bins and reduce unnecessary cost.
The following are some of the approaches that can reduce global warming:
Encouraging the use of renewable energy sources and avoiding fossil fuels.
The amount of carbon wastage by the citizens needs to be checked by reducing the
use of materials containing carbon.
Planting as many trees as possible ensures in reducing the global temperature.
Recycling waste products can help in saving 2400 pounds of carbon dioxide each year
(Hara et al. 2016).

Landfill and waste management are interrelated to each other. Categorise different
types of waste. What is e-waste? What do you know about the waste management
hierarchy?
There are generally 5 categories of waste and they are as follows:
Liquid waste: These are mainly the dirty water, wash water or organic liquids that are
emitted by a household as well as industries.
Solid waste: they can be of various categories such as plastic wastes containing
bottles, jars, containers and other non-biodegradable products that need to be
recycled. Other varieties include paper wastes, tin and other metals, glass, ceramic
etc.
Organic waste: These wastes are generally collected from households and includes
food wastes, garden wastes, rotten items or manures.
Recyclable garbage: These can be termed to all the waste materials that can be
recycled and used all over again.
Hazardous waste: These are the toxic, corrosive or the flammable waste materials
generally produced because of industries (Richa et al. 2018).
E-waste can be considered to all the discarded electronic items such as mobile,
telephone, computer, laptop and various other electronic items. These electric items are either
unwanted, obsolete or non-working and have reached the end of their lifespan (Ikhlayel,
2018). As technology is advancing rapidly many electronic devices are becoming trash, for
example, the telephone and the faces are becoming obsolete after the arrival of mobile and
internet technology.
Waste management hierarchy is a tool that is used to evaluate the process which helps
in protecting the environment, resources and energy consumption. It is diagrammatically
represented as a pyramid and helps in reducing and managing wastes (Richa et al. 2018). The
hierarchy is purely on environment sustainability which helps in extracting the maximum
benefits from products and generate a minimum amount of waste.
