INTRODUCTION
Health and safety within the workplace is considered to be most important as
different type of hazards can occur in case if corrective actions are not taken well in
advance. Further, it is necessarily required for any organization to ensure that proper
tools and equipments are being employed so that employees can work efficiently
(Hughes and Ferrett, 2015). The present assignment is based on risk assessment of
hazards of working in engineering workshop along with recording of accidents etc.
TASK 1: RISK ASSESSMENT
While working in the engineering workshop various hazards can take place which
involves absence of safety signs, machinery left unattended, incorrect ambient
temperature, top heavy shelving, lack of adequate ventilation etc (Dieter and Schmidt,
2013).

TASK 2: MANAGE AND MINIMISE RISK
In order to record accidents and hazards within the workplace proper system has
been developed with the help of which it becomes easy to reduce the level of risk being
faced. Further, for recording purpose proper system has been used where IT system
has been employed. In this type of system important information such as type of risk
corrective action taken along with the frequency is being recorded (Dieter and Schmidt,
2013). Through this data it becomes easy to take frequent actions in case of any type of
risk faced and in turn it has positive impact on the entire engineering company. Further,
proper planning must be present in case of dealing with any type of risk and otherwise it
leads to unfavorable results. With the motive to minimize risk to people, property and

activities proper control measures have to be taken where business has to decide well
in advance what are the main actions that can be taken for reducing the impact of risk.
Employees can be imparted proper training and infrastructure of enterprise must be
developed in proper manner so as to deal with the major risk. Apart from this, design of
building must be appropriate so that risk associated with absence of ventilation can be
avoided easily (McLachlan, A., and et.al., 2013).
TASK 3: COMPLIANCE
The current system within the college being employed is effective and through
this it becomes easy to take corrective actions for dealing with the risk being faced.
Further, proper measures have been taken in order to reduce level of risk. College
strictly complies with the legal requirement such as health and welfare at work act 2005
which is directly associated with the health and safety of employees within the
workplace. It somehow contributes in reducing the overall level of risk and in turn has
positive impact on the organization. Apart from this, it considers selection of proper
equipment and materials with the help of which operations within engineering company
can be carried out in proper manner. This directly leads to elimination of risk and
produces favorable results for company in every possible manner. Another legal law
being applicable is control of substance being hazardous to health. Through this
regulation it becomes easy to work on the main substances which are injurious and in
turn it allows in minimizing the overall level of risk being faced by engineering company
(Jasanoff and Kim, 2013).

CONCLUSION
The entire study being carried out has supported in knowing about the
importance of health and safety within the workplace. Further, to deal with accidents
along with various harmful hazards it is necessary to take corrective actions in advance.
Apart from this, the hazard performa template being developed is quite effective with the
help of which risk evaluation is possible and it can surely bring favorable results for
company. Moreover, control measures have to be taken in advance so that overall
impact of risk can be reduced upto extent.
