Slide 1 – Introduction
English language is the most widely used language which is understood across
the world and is also spoken as the primary language of many countries. Also, the way
in which the language is spoken has evolved over time. Social communities can be
defined a structure in which people share cultural as well as personal values, view
points as well as attitudes.
Slide 2 – Community's use of English language
English language is a language that is spoken worldwide and is even the primary
language of many countries (Coldewey, 2016). There are several languages that are
spoken across the globe but as far as English language has evolved overtime with new
pronunciations and accents. The presentation describes how English language is
spoken in the social communities and how has it impacted their overall pattern of
speaking with time.
Slide 3 – Contd.
There are many aspects like accent, pronunciation, vocabulary as well as
grammar that shape how a language is spoken. Also, various communities have their
own way of speaking and using accents which are difficult to understand be others.
Slide 4 – Contd.
It is a known fact that there are several communities in the UK and each of them
is known to mix their local language with English which ultimately leads to the
generation of a completely new variety of the respective language.
Slide 5 – Impact of the language on the community
Young generation picks up various attractive slang terms from the other
communities and then use the same according to their own language. This is how
words with an attractive and unique pronunciation are picked up and get transferred to
other communities. The process of colonisation has also impacted the way in which the
language is spoken drastically. When members of the community interact with each

other, they do not pay their primary attention to the kind of grammar they use, their
accent as well as the vocabulary which makes the interaction very informal and casual.
Slide 6 – Contd.
Various economic powers and commercialisation of regions has also led an
impact on how the language is spoken within communities (Cooper, A. and Green, C.,
2016.). Although English language is not a primary language for many communities, it
still leads the list of widely spoken languages. Also, the language as we know it today
originated in the Great Britain.
Slide 7 – Relation of the language to the community's identity
People of different age groups, cultural backgrounds are considered to be a part
of a particular social community and have their own accent as well as usage of
grammar as to how English language is spoken which has led to being its identity. The
language has become the identity of the communities as people have their personal
accent and the language is easy to understand and relate among the members of same
communities.
Slide 8 – Contd.
Adults have their own language and a particular way to communicate, whereas
the young generation has its ow typical slang terms. Similarly, schools have a different
way of communicating wit the students as there is a mix of people who belong to
different communities and cultural backgrounds. It has been observed that the pattern in
which English language is spoken in the UK is largely dependent on its culture and has
thus formed to be a part of the identity of various communities.
Slide 9 – Features of the community's language
Grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation etc. are some features that form the identity
of a particular community. Thus, people interact with other people in various community
events and pick up certain words from each other. Since the language is spoken
globally, it is easily understood by other people limiting it to only certain words that
cannot be understood as they have their own usage of vocabulary and grammar. Thus,
the way in which the language is spoken is informal, direct and easy to connect.
