Thinking and Writing Questions
1. Zinsser told the students that he believed in the simplicity of the writing. He advised the
students that writing should be simple and not very complex. Since complex things are often
hard to understand and evaluate and so Zinsser in his essay always tried to make the language
very simple.
2.Zinsser’s style
Zinsser believed in simplicity and stated that it is important for the writers to be
straightforward and very clear if they are thinking. In other words, his technique of writing is
very practical. He believed that the secret in context of good writing is composed of the
sentences in a very clean and composite manner. Zinsser often tried to get rid of any clutter in
writing as it makes the writing very complex and difficult.
Murray’s style
On the other hand, Murray believed that consideration and reconsideration are very necessary
for context to writing. Every small decision plays an innate part. Revision to him is defined as
discovery. It needs to be logical and clear in all terms. He stated that writing is thinking and
the writer should constantly think while writing to make it practical. He believed that a
conclusion is very necessary and the writer needs to go back to the past times again to
oversee the doings.

avoided while writing. It often makes the writing process more complex and only revolves

1. I wrote my piece with prior understanding and thinking. It revolved my sentences around
the teachings of Zinsser. It was very simple and not complex at all. There was no added
element of clutter present in my writing. So, I made sure not to use circular sentences or
strangle words unnecessarily. I revised using a few strategies learned that are:
Prevision: This term incorporates everything that goes before the primary draft-responsive
experience.
Vision: In the second phase of the composition procedure it is used.
Modification: This is the thing that the author does after completion of the draft is finished.
This is done to comprehend and convey the exact thinking of the author.
Rewriting was necessary for context to revision. I also relied on the internal and the external
revision strategies posed by Murray. My external revision included regaining my classroom
lectures, i,e. The things the teachers said, the questions asked, etc. The internal revision
strategies included to improvise and improve the writing, the voice, and the context.
2. The five-paragraph theme has been instructed for quite a while. This is done, to present an
accurate sense of the author in different paragraphs or themes to reduce the complexity of the
readers. This is done to figure out the exact ways to compose question about the articles and
represent its meanings. It is described accordingly such as a presentation, a body (strategies,
results, and discourse) and an end (including the concluding statements). That structure –
starting, center, and end, is shown very obviously when it gets familiar with the theme of the
paragraphs.
3. There are several elements of writing proposed in context to the text. According to Zinsser
clutter, it is that element needed to be exempted from the writings to make it more effective.
As per the words of Murray, the draft element is more vital as it leads to better qualitative
writing in the future. Apart from this, drafting with the help of others would ensure criticism
but will make the writing better. There are other several elements that can be incorporated to
make the writings more effective like; the paragraphs should include unity from the starting
sentence to end. The structuring of the sentences needs to be uniform, as well as complete, to
make the write-up more coherent and more qualitative.

4. As viewed, proper flow remains within the write-up of Wyche in several terms. The
paragraphs are connected, and it shows the vivid relations in between the ideas. A good
conclusion and summary can be drawn easily and promptly. Moreover, from the Mihaly
Csikszentmihalyi's discoveries, constructive statements and conclusions can be developed
easily. Thus, it can be stated that, after reading it, ideal experiences and knowledge can be
gathered. And it can prove useful in the future purpose as the piece of the article is clear in all
