AI Summary
This research proposal investigates the significance of enhancing performance management skills in reducing employee turnover within the global retail industry. It highlights the challenges arising from ineffective communication and work-life balance issues, leading to employee dissatisfaction and increased turnover rates. The proposal outlines primary and secondary research questions, a literature review discussing various scholars' perspectives, and a methodology employing positivism research philosophy, deductive research approach, and descriptive research design. Data collection involves both qualitative and quantitative methods, including surveys and interviews, analyzed using central tendency methods and regression analysis. Ethical considerations, such as maintaining data confidentiality and adhering to anti-discrimination acts, are also addressed to ensure a responsible and comprehensive research process. RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Topic: Importance of enhancing performance management skill in reducing employee
turnover
1. Introduction:
After evaluating data on last five years of global retail industry, it has been observed that
lack of performance management skill among employees has become one of the most significant
issues due to which employee performance rate is increasing day by day. People belonging to
various geographical backgrounds and psychological attitudes are associated with business
organizations. Due to the lack of effective communication or other professional rapport,
employees fail to provide superior quality of services to the customers. Negative feedback from
the customers’ end is a matter of immense de-motivation for the employees due to which they
decide to leave the organization very frequently. In addition, being unable to manage effective
work life balance, the employees are showing their dissatisfaction in providing good services. As
a result, the rate of employee turnover is increasing day by day.
2. Research question:

performance management training
3. Literature review:
Numerous eminent scholars have provided their own point of view regarding the
importance of enhancing performance management skill in reducing employee turnover. Goetsch
and Davis (2014) stated that People of various cultural backgrounds are not well accustomed
with effective work culture (Sikora and Ferris 2014). Anitha (2014) opined that management
skill implies the fact that employees would be able to make appropriate decision at the proper
time along with balancing their time management skill. However, economy is one of the most
significant barrier due to which the business experts are unable to implement effective training
on communication skill as well as performance management skill (Mehta, Kurbetti and
Dhankhar 2014). Still, it can be suggested that effective training on communication skill and
technological skill can render efficiency among employees in terms of handling work pressure.
4. Methodology:
Outline of the philosophical perspective:
In this very specific study, positivism research philosophy will be conducted in order to
identify the research issue with keen observation. While evaluating the research issue from
numerous points of views, the researcher would have to collect after making in-depth
observation (Oladapo 2014). With the help of deductive research approach, the researcher
would like to evaluate the identified issue based on existing theoretical approaches. Descriptive
research design will be used in this study in order to analyze data and information from

numerous points of view. In this specific approach, the researcher does not get the scope of
interpreting data. Information is evaluated as per gathered data without having any proper
manipulation.
Research design:
Data collection technique is primarily designed in two major ways that include primary
data collection and secondary data collection. Primary data collection technique is conducted by
following qualitative and quantitative data collection method. Quantitative data collection
method involves the participants in providing direct feedback regarding the research issue
(Cloutier et al. 2015). On the other hand, qualitative data collection method involves the
participants in providing data based on descriptive method. In this very specific study, the
researcher would like to follow both qualitative and quantitative data collection technique.
Survey will be conducted by involving 100 employees from the retail business sector in order to
know their feedback. On the other hand, 3 managers from reputed retail organizations will be
involved for showing their own point of views.
Sampling technique and data analysis method:
Sampling technique is the method of evaluating data from population. In this study non-
probability sampling method will be used in order to involve those participants who are directly
associated with research issue. Data analysis is the systematic method of analyzing appropriate
information by using statistical tools (Sadikoglu and Olcay 2014). In this study, the researcher
would like to follow central tendency method in liker chart with the help of regression analysis
so that identified research can be conducted successfully. In order to make effective qualitative
data analysis the researcher would like to select semi-structured interview method.

6. Ethical issue:
In order to conduct the entire research process successfully the researcher needs to follow
some of the most effective ethics, values and beliefs (Kang, Gatling and Kim 2015). These
ethical issues include implementation of appropriate regulations and acts such as anti-
discrimination act, data protection act, gender equality act and so on. The researcher would have
to be more concerned in maintaining confidentiality of data while collecting necessary
information from various eminent sources. At the same time, the researcher should not force the
respondents in gathering information. Data should be collected with the spontaneous
participation of the respondents.
7. Conclusion:
The importance of enhancing performance management skill in reducing employee
turnover is the concern of this very specific study. It is however undeniable that people
belonging to various geographical backgrounds and psychological attitudes are associated with
business organizations. Negative feedback from the customers’ end is a matter of immense de-
motivation for the employees due to which they decide to leave the organization very frequently.
In this very specific study, positivism research philosophy will be conducted in order to identify
the research issue with keen observation. In addition, the researcher would like to follow central
tendency method.
