INTRODUCTION
One of the most important things about staying any amount of duration in learning academic
oriented institutions is the access one has to various forms and modules of skill acquisition. The
modern job market requires one to have complex and detailed skill-sets which are mostly found

during the academic study that one takes which makes reflective practice all the more important for
the purpose of self-improvement (Cottrell, 2019). This report will highlight the important reflective
account of the various skills needed for one to succeed in professional and academic endeavours
such as basic skills involving reading and listening skills and also advanced ones such as research
skills.
MAIN BODY
I have gotten to know about the benefits of teamwork during my college, which helps me in
identifying my inner abilities and also learn about new things from my group mates. While working
in a group, I have seen change in my ability to communicate with other people, I become more
socialize and at same time a good listener too which is very important for us while we are working
in a group as a team. Group working focuses on valuing others opinion and thoughts which help in
growing confidence of an individual and I have observed increase in my innovative ideas and
thoughts. Group works also improves and motivate those students who are not able to express
themselves in front of the people (Kyprianides and Easterbrook, 2020). For achieving the goals
while performing any group tasks we must be aware about our self, about our potential, we must
focus on distributing the work and duties to the specific individual which helps in removing the
work burden on single person. For successful group working one needs to open about his or her
queries related to anything, you must not be afraid about anything. We should take responsibilities
related to the work and jobs assigned to us, and should listen very carefully to others in group. We
should support each other, encourage them and be polite to each other. Group work teach me to do
proper management of time and working with more effective and efficient way for the completion
of the task for which the group has formed.
By getting exposure from a well reputed university I got to learn about various things
which enhanced my present skills and also boosted my confidence which encourages my
personality development. One of the most important learning which I have got to know is how to
develop the active listening skills, as they are the important part which has to be considered in every
field. As being a university student I have an advantage to learn many things and gain my
knowledge by the projects, training sessions and various other methods. Active listening should be
promoted in every area of our learning sessions so that more attention and focus can be given to
those subject matters. For encouraging those skills, I have come across many ways which can be
opted, such as being focused and attentive is the key to listen effectively, implementing what you
have gained or heard is also a method which can make us effective in our learning abilities (Rao,
2018.). Being more socialize have also helped me to get engaged with my batch mates, so that I can

be a good listener as well as the active participant in the conversation. Making notes and reading the
study material have also helped me in being more focused and determined.
Reading is not only helps the people to gain the knowledge but they also improve the
capacity of learning and writing skills (Price, and Kalil, 2019). It enables to understand the things
more and develops the imagination and intelligence. Reading skills means refers to the ability to
interact with the words and understanding its meaning what the try to say along with reading skills
are having a four categories which are listed below: decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and understand
the sentences. These four skills are very important to doing effective reading. Reading skills helps
to build their knowledge and skills.
Now a days good reading skills are very important part of our life, it gives a self-confident to you. I
don’t like book reading, but when I start reading I fell some positive changes in myself, it helps me
to develop my empathy. I explore and develop myself and analysing that when I start reading book,
giving my complete attention to the book to understanding the things. Its improve my concentration
level more and reduce my stress, reading is not only focus my attention, but also build my
knowledge an improve my reading skills (Nikolopoulou,Akriotou, and Gialamas, 2019). When I
start reading it fell more relax and calm. But when you start reading a book you need to learn and
understand that what the books try says. If you want do effective reading so focus on this thing
such as keep your eye sharp on the visual clues, try to break in parts it helps to understand more,
doing prediction so that it gives you visual clues to know the topic, start story mapping when you
read book so try to imagine story the start reading, it helps to create a visual map of the book, and
lastly if you don’t understand anything so read again and again.
Tips to Increase reading skills which are listed below:
• Apply the key reading strategies
• Summarizing the large paragraphs
• Make a notes while you read
• Understand the purpose of this book
• Set reading goals
Academics research refers to the ability and star gates that's helps the students to succeed in
this academic setting, it helps to encourage the students to become more efficient it’s give a more
confident and motivation to achieve their target. And as a student it is important develop this skill
by taking part in school competition and try to speak in grouping activities. If you are doing any
research task so you need to focus on this thing such as read the assessment brief carefully, then
analyse that what is the purpose of this assessment, then consider your last point, after completing

this making simple criteria to understand the research work more batter and finally make a plan of
your research according to your time and words limit.
Tips to increase academics skills which are listed below:
• Modified your behaviour
• Distribute your subject according to your likes and dislikes
• Make a proper note
• Avoid electronic devices when you study such as T.V, mobile phones and others.
CONCLUSION
The above report went into detail regarding the various skills that one inculcated by an
individual during their course in a reputed academic institution while studying various modules.
Various skillsets were analysed such as listening skills, the way to read in a proper and concise
manner along with advanced skills such as research and academic writing which are very important
to gain lucrative opportunities in future. It was concluded from this report that there are many
valuable learnings that are to be had while studying academic modules and paying attention in class
and absorbing the knowledge being given is key to gaining long term benefit in professional and
personal life.
