Assessment 02: Elaboration phase
Introduction
The notable determination of the paper is to focus on the detailed architecture and design
of the enrollment system is going to be incorporated in National University. This report will be
very much helpful for the readers to understand both the non-functional as well as the functional
requirements of the Enrollment System (Baldacci et al., 2018). The different types of cases used
for the incorporation of the Enrollment System will be presented in the form of a use case
diagram. The functionalities of all the actors and the major cases associated will the Enrollment
System can be understood from the use case diagram. The fully developed use case description
will also highlight one of the identified use cases of the scenario (Ben et al., 2016). The
identified use case will be also explained in this report. This report will also present the UML
model class diagram for the new Enrollment System. This report will also aim to develop an
event partitioned system models for the new Enrollment System based on the uses cases which
are identified in the above sections of the paper. The following unit of the paper will be
discussing both the non-functional as well as functional requirement of the Enrollment system.
Requirements of the Enrollment System
This unit of the paper will be discussing the functional as well as the non-functional
requirements of the Enrollment System. The functional requirements of the Enrollment System
are as followings:

Functional Requirements
Settings of the Enrollment System: This option of the Enrollment System will be
managed from the admin panel. All the basic functionalities of the systems are managed in the
Enrollment System. All the organization data of this University can be managed by using the
settings panel of this Enrollment System.
Payment Gateway of the system: This enrollment will be containing different types of
payment gateways such as Paypal which are used by most of the students of this University.
Live chat options: The live chat options can be helpful for the students to get rid of the
difficulties they might face during the enrollment process (Beshears et al., 2018). Students care
departments will be communicating with the students using both text messages and voice calls.
Non-functional requirements
Enrollment Phase for the students: The enrollment phase of the university and the
automated systems associated with the enrollment phase such as the registration of the students
(both single and multi-registration) will be controlled by the admins in this Enrollment System
(Cho & Kim, 2018). The sending of the reminder emails to all the stakeholders of National
University will be also managed from the enrollment section of the new system.
Application form for the students: The students who are looking forward to getting
enrolled in the National University can look out for this option in the Enrollment System where
the students can upload their data and see the list of the available courses offered by this
organization.

Complaints service: The complaints coming from the consumers of the organization
which are the students as well as the probable students of the organization is managed using the
complaints section of the Enrollment System.
Uses cases
This section will be presenting the use cases which will be considered during the
implementation of the enrollment system in National University. All the major cases and the
actors associated with the implementation of the enrollment system will be presented in the use
case diagram (Cowan & Goldhaber, 2015). The following diagram can be very much important
to understand the role of each of the stakeholders who are associated with the implementation of
the enrollment system at National University.

This unit of the paper will be describing one fully developed use case description for one
of the important uses cases identified in this scenario. Based on the above diagram it can be
understood that the actors associated in this scenario are the candidates who want to be enrolled
in the National University and the program director of the National University (Dai et al., 2018).

Use Case Description
The diagrams help in understanding how the students can register the student details
which can be accessed by the course coordinator of National University and based upon the
details provided by the student the course coordinator will be allowing the student to see the
major used in the University. Based upon the options provided to the students the student can
choose their preferred major such as Information Technology, Humanities, Accounting,
Business, Art and Law. The verification of the selected courses will be done by the course
coordinator of the University as well. The list of available courses within the major will be also
accessed by the students and will get enrolled until the strength of the classes reaches the 40
mark (Feng, Gao & Zhu, 2017). The concluding step of the enrollment system is the payment
method where the students can pay for the courses using their credit and debit cards.
Thus, this unit of the paper helps in understanding the events associated with the
enrollment system as well as the flow of the selected use case. The set of actions for the two
actors in the selected scenario can be also determined from the diagram as well (Lo, 2017). The
following unit of the paper will be presenting the UML domain model class diagram regarding
the incorporation of the new Enrollment system in national University.

UML domain model class diagrams

(Source: Created by the author)
The above UML domain model class diagrams help in understanding each of the classes
associated with the incorporation of the Enrollment System in National University. The static
view of the application has been provided with the help of this UML diagram. The different
types of classes of this UML domain model class are Student, Enrollment system, Class, Check,
Professor and Course. Each of the classes are linked to each other (Mommandi & Welner, 2018).
The details entered by the student are enrolled in the system and the data are verified by the

professors of the National University. The enrolled data are entered in the class where students
can be added by the course coordinator with a maximum limit of 40 (Pykhtin et al., 2015). Based
on the verification process, the courses which will be offered to the students will be displayed to
the students. The courses can be managed using the professors of the courses. The professor of
each of the courses can allocate classes to each of the selected students using the concept of
FCFS. (First Come First Serve) as there are only 40 seats for each of the selected courses. The
higher authorities of the National University can check the teacher who are allocating each of the
classes to the students with the help of the Enrollment System (Rich & Jennings, 2015). The
approval of the entire process can be viewed by the students after the payments are made by the
student with the help of their credit and debit cards. Thus the above UML diagram can be very
much important to understand the role of each of the actors associated with the Enrollment
System. The artefacts, actions and the classes associated with the Enrollment System can be also
determined from the above pictorial diagram. Thus, it can be said that the responsibilities of the
students, professors, Enrollment System are dependent on each other. The following unit of the
paper will be developing an event partitioned system model for the new Enrollment system of
National University considering the major use cases which was identified in the previous
sections of this paper.

There are lots of processes and subsystems associated with the Enrollment system which
is going to be incorporated in National University. The above pictorial diagram can be very
much important for the analyzers in case there are issues associated with the Enrollment System.
The defects in each of the units of the Enrollment system can be identified using this Enrollment
System.
Response to each of the event can be done with the help of this event portioned system
model diagram. The pictorial diagrams explains the integration of the communication device
with the enrollment systems which will be very much beneficial for both the internal

stakeholders of the Enrollment System like professors as well as for external stakeholders like
the students (Vibert et al., 2015). The flow of signals between each of the actors associated with
this Enrollment System can be understood from the above diagram as well. Thus the quality of
service offered by the Enrolled System in National University can be maintained with the help of
this event partitioned system model.
Conclusion
Thus, the elaboration phase of this assignment help in understanding the detailed
architecture of the Enrollment System which is about to be incorporated in the National
University. The functional and non-functional requirements of the Enrollment system has been
stated in the paper in a descriptive manner. The use case description which has been presented in
the paper helps in understanding the role of each of the use cases. The class associated with the
incorporation of the Enrollment System has been also presented with the help of a pictorial
diagram. The flow of events after the incorporation of the Enrollment system can be also
determined from the paper as well.
