Project Introduction
The project is based on preparing an analysis over the requirements that would be required for the
development of an Information System for University Enrolment. This project would mainly be done in
order to facilitate the online enrolment process. The facilitation of the online enrolment process would
also ease the entire process of registration and ensure a hassle free experience for the students (Zheng
et al., 2016). This information system would also assist the National University to assist students in
management of enrolment throughout the academic year.
The development of the Information System would also help the National University to gather data about
the number of students who are enrolling their names in the University. This information system would
collect the data from students and would also facilitate the management of the university to understand
the requirements of students (Engin et al., 2014). With the help of the information system, the university
would be able to gather data and identify areas under which the students would be showing the
maximum level of interests, locations and timings of classrooms. They would also be able to learn about
the exact number of faculty that would be required for each subject.
The discussion in this document focuses on the important form of capabilities that would be required
within the system, the benefits for the business, required resources, mapping of stakeholders, risks
involved and proposed outcomes after the development of the information system. Thus with the help of
the gathered information, it would be easy to develop the system in a successful manner.
Important System Capabilities
The most important system capabilities, which would be included within the University Enrolment
System include:
1. Decision Supporting Systems – The inclusion of this system within the proposed design system
would be responsible for making collective decisions for the university based on the gathered data of

2. Transaction Processing Systems These systems would be responsible for processing of

support systems that would facilitate the National University to process the gathered data and thus also
derive the best results. This would further help the university to make different strategic decisions and
further enhance the business development.

The business benefits that would result with the inclusion of the Information System within the university
are:
1. Storage of Information and Analysis The adoption of information system within National
University would assist them in storing data in a virtual cloud platform. This would help them in
maintaining a track of each of the enrolment made by students (Hinton & Anderson, 2014). Storing of
information in a cloud platform would facilitate them in updating and analyzing the information. The
university would thus be able to record the credentials of students and assign them in the particular
chosen courses.
2. Assisting with Decision Making Process – These information systems would help the students in
reviewing their enrolment status. This would help them in reviewing their important credentials and
selected courses during a particular term (Romiszowski, 2016). After a certain number of students have
enrolled within the university, the Information System would not accept any further enrolment. The AI
enabled decision systems would make decisions on the number of enrolments made and would thus
ensure that the system does not get overloaded after a certain number of enrolments have been made.
3. Assisting with Business Processes – The information system that would be included within the
university would help the management in making strategic decisions. The AI enabled system that would
be included within the website will help in processing of data derived from student records (Rahimi,
Møller & Hvam, 2016). They would then formulate their decisions as per the relatable data, evaluate
over them and decide the best possible measures that could be taken for the benefits of the industry.
Resources Required
The important resources that would be required for the development of the information system for the
university are:
Hardware – For the development of the information system, the university would require desktop
computers and tablets, servers, routers, cables for facilitating the development of system. These
hardware systems should be procured primarily before the initiation of the project (Huang, Li & Tao,
2014). The systems should be properly be tested before initiating the development over the project.

Software – Advanced software technology would be required for developing the system. This includes a
coding platform for the development team and Microsoft Windows version of 8 and above (Tao et al.,
2014). As the university would store educational records on the cloud platform, they would implement
cloud applications as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). The software meant for developing the website
should be chosen properly for facilitating the purposes of the university.
People – The system would be developed by a group of efficient people who would be responsible for
understanding the requirements and thus take appropriate measures. The people involved within the
development process are project sponsor, project manager, team leader, head of development team and
testing team, head of networking team and technical suppliers. The people involved within the
development process would also be considered as the important stakeholders for the project. they would
take responsibility for developing a plan for initiating the project and executing them as per the needed

Broad Feasibility of the Project (Identified Risks)
The feasibility of the project would be help in determining the risks that might approach towards the
project. This includes:
1. Technical Feasibility – There might be some risks within the procured hardware or software. The
hardware systems might not arrive within the proper time or there might be detectable faults within the
procured systems. The software and related technologies that would be chosen for developing of the
website should be entirely new and highly advanced (Prat, Comyn-Wattiau & Akoka, 2015). Hence, each
of the procured systems should be properly tested before they are procured from the technical supplier.
2. Economic Feasibility – Risks might also be incurred from the financial aspect of the project. The
university should prepare a proper analysis over the needed costs that would be incurred during the
project development. In order to determine the economic feasibility over the project, they should
determine the breakeven analysis, net present value (NPV) and return on investment (ROI) (Yi, Hong &
Liu, 2016). Developing of a proper economic feasibility would be helpful in understanding about the
revenue that would be earned by the university after the development of the website.
3. Behavioural Feasibility – This project would incur some new people within the industry who would
design the website for the university. These persons should be involved with the development of the
system. They should be hired on a contract basis and thus be paid as per their needs. A proper meeting
should be conducted for understanding each of the persons and thus decide on proper actions.
Proposed Outcome from the Project
The project that is proposed for the development of a website system should follow the basic guidelines
that are underlined by the educational board of the university. The project is aimed at facilitating a
website that would ease the process of enrolment of students in the university. With the huge number of
registrations that are made in a single year, the administration department at National University had
discussed about the importance of an enrolment system, which would assist the university in managing
the number of enrolments throughout the entire academic year.
The process of enrolment would incur several steps that should be followed in a proper order. With the
help of this information system, the university would be able to manage each of the individual
registrations properly. They would be able to gather data about the number of students that would be
allocated to a particular department. Upon full accommodation of students in a particular department,
the AI enabled website would stop the process of registration.
Other benefits that would be provided is that the students would be able to get their commencement
dates on an automated basis. The process of payment of registration would be made online and thus this
would also reduce the efforts of the administration department at National University. These proposed
outcomes would be generated after the successful development of the information system.
