Enterprise Development
Enterprise development is the process that will help the organization to get synchronized
operations between different divisions or departments. The main objective of enterprise
development is to make a specific design to accomplish a specific task related to the sales and
marketing or controlling of inventory. The enterprise development proposed by me in my earlier
assignment is about Happy Air. It was a Thailand based airline which offers domestic services to
the customers as well as chartered services.
Definition and objective of enterprise development:
From the knowledge I have gained during doing my assignment on the enterprise
development, I have understood the broader definition of enterprise development. The main
objective of enterprise development is overall growth of the business. This growth can be
achieved in various ways. Presently, the trend of digitization in the organization is followed by
many business organizations as the business model. The enterprise development can be achieved
through the right business model.
From the study of happy Air and their application in the enterprise development model, I
have understood that digitization of the digital disruption has important role in the growth of the
company. Apart from that it also helps the organization in competitive market. The use of digital
practices increases the connectivity between the different departments of Happy Air. Apart from
that, during the evaluation of the business process at Happy Air, I have seen that the automated
process in the ticket booking and the inline enquiry system have enhanced the service to the
consumer.

Happy Air is a domestic airline which also offers the chartered flight services. I have
assumed that providing chartered services to the consumers are giving high revenue to the
organization. In order to maintain an organized management of the consumer management and
data management the implementation of the enterprise development is needed.
From my understanding, enterprise development is about planning and identification of
the objectives of the organizations. This also includes, prioritizing the activities within the
organization. Enterprise development is connected with the business development, though these
two terms are not the same.
I have understood that the enterprise development system is about the overall
development of the organization. However, in the present situation the enterprise development is
about the managing the IT operations in the organization. From the evaluation of the Happy Air
website, I have seen that, full digital disruption in the organization needs the modifications and
the changes of the workings at different departments. The goal of enterprise development is to
achieve the advancement of information and communication technology strategically in a well
planned manner.
The decision making on the projects and taking development initiatives can be done
through assigning right priority to the right task in the organization. Apart from that the analysis
of the external environment like the business situation of the competitor organization is also
helpful in this case.
From my understand the key objectives of the enterprise development are-
 Implementation of the digitization in the organization: In order to develop a successful
business and functionalities, it is important the business unit and technical unit of the

organization are working together. This synchronization can be achieved through the
implementation of the enterprise development.
 Maintaining the governance structure: Maintaining the governance structure is important
for monitoring the business and activities. In this case, enterprise development provides
the governance structure that will able to monitor the business process. Apart from that,
in case, if the modifications are needed to be made, the governing body has to inform the
project management team about the modification.
 Decision making and business continuity: One of the main objectives of the enterprise
development is that it enhances the decision making ability of the organization. I have
learnt that the development of the decision making ability of the organization will help in
taking the business decision best suited for the organization. This will help the
organization to achieve the business continuity.
Roles and requirements of the enterprise development:
The role of the enterprise development is the collaboration between IT and business
model. This indicates the way to implement the business plan through the use of digital
technology.
I have studied the functioning of the Happy Air. It seems to me that the digital disruption
is important for every business organization from different industry. In case of Happy Air, the
main functioning of this organization is to provide domestic flights to the consumers. In this
case, the organization will try to find cost effective way to serve the consumers with standard
service. In order to achieve this, application of the technology is needed to be done. Along with
that maintaining the services to the consumers and understanding the current market demand in

the airline business need the knowledge of business management. In order to maintain good
customer relation proper business policy along with the dedicated customer service are needed.
Apart from that Happy Air has to reach to the larger consumer base. In order to do this proper
marketing plan is required which is also a part of the business unit of organization.
From this analysis I have understood that the knowledge sharing between the business
unit and technical unit is important. During the development of this understanding, I have come
through some of the example of the project failures. In this context I can name the failure of the
Deepwater Horizon owned by British Petroleum. I can say that in that project there was no
proper communication between the business management team and the technical team. In case
of Happy Air, this synchronization has been implemented in a proper way.
In order to achieve the enterprise development, some of the requirements are needed to
be present in organization. These requirements can be important factors regarding to the
technology or human resource. The development initiatives are decided by the business
executives of the organization in enterprise development. Maintaining the portfolio regarding the
development can be helpful in this case. This will provide a clear over view of the organization
and the initiatives those are needed to be taken for further improvement.
Benefits of Enterprise Development:
From the analysis I have come through certain benefits of enterprise development in the
organization. Some of these are as follows.
 Guidance in the business:
The implementation of the business development will help the organization to
follow standard guidelines for the development and expansion of the business.

This includes prioritizing the activities in the organization. Proper implementation
of the strategy which includes the technical implementation and marketing plan
for the organization can be achieved through the enterprise development.
 Cost management: Proper enterprise development enables the work breakdown
along with assigning the cost for each module. This will help the business
organization to manage the cost in an effective way by spending the right amount
for the right purpose.
 Access to the infrastructure and specialists: Enterprise development in the
organization helps to access and implement the emerging technologies in the
organization. Apart from that it helps in the categorization of the specialists for
the organization. Through the enterprise development clear understanding of the
functioning for technical department and the business department can be
understood.
 Access to the markets: Marketing is an important attribute for the business of the
organization. Through the proper marketing, an organization can reach to the
larger number of consumers. Proper implementation of the enterprise
development supports the idea of market analysis in order to understand the
demand of the consumers and apply the modifications on the products according
to it.
Risks associated with the enterprise development:
During the development of the enterprise certain risks like the failure of the
implementation and the lack of decision making ability of the organization may happen.
Moreover, in some situation it has been seen that the objective of the organization is not well

understood by the enterprise development team. Communication between different members of
the team is important in the course of development. For the implementation of the advanced
technology needs the association of the technical experts. Apart from that the organization can
give training to the employees for the proper handling of the new systems after the disruption.
From the discussion I have learnt the significance of the enterprise development along
with its different perspectives. The context I have learnt through this knowledge is the evaluation
of the enterprise development in the Happy Air. In this context I have learnt, that one of the
important aspects of the business development is the synchronization of the work between
technical unit and business unit. At present the use of technology is in different sector is growing
rapidly. In this situation, every organization needs to have a well defined technical team for the
implementation of the advanced technology.
I have learnt different benefits of the enterprise architecture in this context. It can be said
that the application of the proper enterprise development plan can be beneficial for the
organization. However, there are risks associated with the enterprise development which can be
mitigated through proper steps taken by the organization.
