Introduction:
The ERP is capable of changing the organization’s processes toward more technology
based approach. The ERP can cover all the processes of an organization. Various ERP vendors
are available in the market (Tian & Xu 2015). Conducting a competitive analysis is essential for
selecting a suitable ERP solution for the business. The cost benefit analysis is the way of
determining the return on investment. It will allow analyzing the profitability of the selected ERP
vendor.
The report includes the description of the ERP and analysis of various ERP vendors. It
also provides justification of selected ERP vendor through Cost Benefit Analysis.
1. Enterprise Resource Planning:
Definition: ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning is considered to be a business process
management application. This application permits client organization to organize their business
as per their objectives. Moreover, ERP is capable of making the back-office processes of the
organization automatic (Seethamraju 2015). The back office process can be associated with
service, technology and human resources. The ERP is used by both the large and SME
organization. The ERP can be implemented in the organization premise or in the cloud. Most of
the small and medium sized organizations uses the online ERP because of its cost saving and
high scalability features.
Benefits of ERP: The advantage that attracts most of the customers to ERP
implementation is concentrated IT costs. Tumi can spare the need of IT infrastructure, dedicated
employee, licenses and support teams and just focus on spending all the capital to ERP. The ERP
is well known for its capability of reducing IT costs. The ERP is capable of covering areas like

customer relation, human resource, finance, supply chain and more. The ERP provides complete
visibility to the entire process of the Tumi. The management can easily monitor and control
every processes running with the organization (Shen, Chen & Wang 2016). The ERP also bring
all the data and information into a centralized location which leads to better streamlined
competition and collaboration.
Limitations of ERP: The ERP implementation is a risky process and can lead
management of Tumi to a bad situation. The ERP implementation in old business are prone to
employee resistance and unsupported infrastructure (Costa et al., 2016). ERP implementation
requires downtime which leads to profit loss. Tumi may not be able to afford this situation. The
in-house system is very costly and complex to implement. The online ERP solutions are cost
effective but the power of the system remain on the service providers.
2. Reason for Upgrading to ERP:
Improved Customer Satisfaction: The ERP is capable of collecting various data from the
user directly and indirectly. These data are later analyzed and information on customer need and
concerns are produced (Alomari, Amir, Aziz & Auzair 2018). The produced analysis result can
be used to provide better service to user. The ERP can handle the customer requests more
accurately and effectively.
Cost Saving: In order to make more profit and concentrate on customer satisfaction,
enhancing customer relationship management is not enough. The ERP offers flexible pricing that
can allow to maximize the return on investment (Antero 2015). The cost of the ERP is not fixed
or one time. The charge is taken every month or year as per the resource usage. The service

provider installs the system in their environment. The responsibility of updating the system
security and installing of patches is upon the service provider.
Better Inventory Tracking: The customer purchase products and services. In order to
provide better and uninterrupted service, it is essential to have proper knowledge of the
inventory. Like, Tumi, the issue of excess of inventory affects the profit of organization (Rahimi,
Hvam, Moller & Haug 2016). ERP automatically and accurately handles the inventory data and
distribute those data in real time to authorized users.
