APS 5 Fraud Investigator at NDIA, being a correctional officer at Adelaide Remand Center,
and being a Victoria Police Officer. Notably, the three criminology jobs have almost similar
enterprise skills that need to be considered before applying for the positions. For instance, one
must have research skills and be familiar with various research approaches. In addition, one
must be capable of collect accurate statistical data, and interpreting them correctly. The reason
why one may become a criminologist is that he or she can have a say in the criminal justice
system, and study the psychological and social elements that cause individuals to commit
crimes. Additionally, the latter can identify which techniques they can use to rehabilitate a law

Currently, most Australian employers require an applicant to have various enterprise
skills before joining their teams. These include critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, and
presentation skills. Importantly, these skills play an essential role in how a fraud investigator
assesses various situations, and the conclusions drawn after investigation. For instance, a fraud
investigator must be a team player as the job involves inquiring information from various
sources, which can only be achieved if he or she works well with others (Foundation for
Young Australians 2017).
Alternatively, critical thinking is fundamental for such a job as it enables the
investigator to link crucial information such as fraudulent records. Importantly, critical

listening, teamwork and analytical skills. These skills are fundamental for any correctional
officer as they can listen to inmates regarding their cases and psychological situations, and
analyze them effectively (Foundation for Young Australians 2017). After making his or her
assessment on the prisoner, the officer can communicate to the relevant authorities regarding
his or her psychological situation, or counsel them on how they can improve their behavior.
Normally, some of the inmates may have gone through psychological breakdown,
which may have led them to commit the crime that put them in jail. For example, an inmate
who may have been sexually abused by someone they killed may have reached their breaking

point that led them to committing the crime. Therefore, by communicating friendly to them,
they may open up regarding such issues that may require a physician’s help to overcome. As a
result, the correctional officer may talk to the prison management about the need of

be appointed the prison facility. Conversely, analytical skills are critical for the former as it
helps them to analyze any illegal activities taking place within the prison facility. This will
help the officer to report such cases to the management before any risks arise from such
activities.

There are various enterprise skills that a police officer must possess before being
admitted to the Victoria Police Department. These may include time management, digital
literacy, and strategic thinking. These skills are essential as it influences the efficiency of a
police officer in locating and pursue a law offender, and how much time it may take to arrive
at the crime scene. For instance, time management is fundamental as a police officer can know
if they can arrive on the crime scene on time if he or she is dispatched; this also involves
strategic thinking skills.
Digital literacy may enable an officer to use dispatch equipment with ease, and even
using the police car-laptop to attain criminal records of a potential suspect. Alternatively,

police officers are required to always turn on their bodycams when in duty, which will ensure
that they conduct their activities as required. If a police officer does not know how to operate a

central role in the appointment of a police officer, which will improve trust and
communication within the police department.

The three jobs use team work, good communication, and critical thinking as the main
enterprise skills. These three are vital as they affect how an investigation is done, and its
outcome. For a fraud investigator, teamwork is vital when sharing and researching information
regarding fraudulent activities in a firm’s operation. This occasionally incorporates critical
thinking as the investigator may partner with his colleagues to identify the connection between
fraudulent records, and how the records were certified as legal. For a correctional officer, he
may work hand in hand with the management of the prison to identify appropriate
rehabilitation measures that may be taken on inmates. Notably, critical thinking must be
incorporated when identifying these measures, and how effective they may be.
