Report
AI Summary
This report analyzes the effects of Enterprise Systems (ES) and data management in organizations, highlighting their contribution to efficiency and productivity. It references SAP's extensive database subscriptions and contrasts ES with poorly set up legacy systems. The report emphasizes the operational integration facilitated by ES, potentially fostering innovation by reducing time and enhancing data harvesting. A case study of CEMEX demonstrates the benefits of ES in automating data flow and improving data management. Peer-reviewed articles are examined, revealing that while the benefits of ES may not be immediately apparent, they become more pronounced as the system matures. The report concludes that ES promises immense benefits for organizations, making data management easier and boosting corporate efficiency, as seen in CEMEX's case.

A Report on Enterprise System and Data Management
Enterprise system has unimaginably contributed to efficiency and productivity in many
businesses. Enterprise System has become an essential instrument in the present day without
which a good number of organizations cannot operate. When it is successfully implemented by
an organization, it guarantee an organizational combined effect that provide incentive for the
development the processes that ensure success of a business Oghazi, Fakhrai Rad, Karlsson &
Haftor, 2018; Wang, Kung & Byrd, 2018). In this document, we seek to find out the effects of
Enterprise System and data management in organizations.
As stated by a Systems Application and Products in Data processing SAP Inc., the largest
known software vendor organization around the globe, an estimate amount of 186 million
corporates subscribed to the organization’s data base by the year 2018. In general, it can be
deduced that the ES seems to outmatch organization’s legacy application systems which are
poorly set up. Moreover, the operational integration in organizations which are realized due to
the implantation of enterprise system can impact the entire organization. As a result, coupling
Enterprise System with database management in a business can potentially foster innovative
operations within corporates as it lessen time and also help in data harvesting, thus providing
essential data required to enhance the organization’s processes (Rickey, 2019). With an
organization-wide data up to date all time, which is provided by Enterprise System through ERP
system, it can be easy to picture, compare and manage the impacts of the innovation process in
the organization.
Case Study

ENTERPRISE SYSTEM AND DATA MANAGEMENT 3
This section presents a case study involving the organizations which have been successful
with the implementation of the Enterprise System in data management. The case study involve
CEMEX corporate in USA.
COMEX-Case study
COMEX is one of the popular corporates that is dedicated to create sustainable value by
provision of high quality products and solutions to satisfy the construction needs of
organizations. For many years, the organization has shown the need for effective monitoring
through the adoption of sophisticated information management. The ES and data management
system implemented by COMEX Inc. acquired from the Earthsoft Corporate vendor had
essential data management features. Transforming from the traditional way of data management,
the enterprise system application enable checking data from various devices in the field and
directly forward the details into the organization’s data base. Additionally, the system allow its
loggers to manage the information flow, it also enables synchronization of the data collected.
While COMEX has benefited from other data management techniques the
implementation of the Enterprise system for data management has come with a greater
improvement as far as data management is concerned. This is due to the fact that the new system
enabled automation of data flow from laboratory to the field and vice versa. We can derive the
potential impacts of implementing ES for data management from this case. The following case
further reveal the impacts of implementing the approach in organizations.
Peer reviewed Articles
It is important to note that at this point, the majority of studies which are examined are
designed to study the impacts of the Enterprise System, ERP in particular on the database

management activities. In this rationale, three peer reviewed articles which are coherent with the
subject of study are analyzed.
A study by Hull, Su & Vaculin (2013) represents the data management perspectives in
business organizations enabled by Enterprise System. In their study, the authors attempt to find
out whether businesses experience a high level of data integration, a greater use of database
management applications as well as improvements as far as reporting and decision making is
concerned. Through their survey which got spread to 700 organizations, they received a response
rate of 30% responses. Though the research was targeted in comparison between the users of
Enterprise System in data management and the non-users of the system, organizations which
were having ES projects for implementation of the ES system were not considered in the study.
This resulted into 60 sample organizations which represents 25 ES users and 35 non-users of the
ES in data management. The author’s findings suggest that the application of ES is operative in
supporting data management. However, it was surprising that the difference between the
organizations which are the ES data management users and the non-users not worth noting. This
probably due to the reason that most of the business which had adopted ES were at their early
stage of implementation. Due to the fact that ES needs quite some years to start showing impacts,
the impacts of the system is expected when the system is at its mature phase.
In the same spirit, Alalwan & Weistroffer (2012) also presented their research findings of
the study which was focused to analyze the impacts of the ES on enterprise content management
system. In their survey, the authors received 60 responses and the rate of response was 45%.
When the Alalwan et al. (2012) findings is weighed with the Hull et al. (2013) findings, Alalwan
and Weistroffer found a more stronger relationship between ES and data management in
organizations. Particularly, whereas the former found relatively low impacts of ES on data

management, the latter reveals that a lot of companies use data management techniques along
with Enterprise Information System. The study therefore suggest that the ES enhances the role in
data management among organizations.
On his side, Asemi & Jazi (2010), similarly present their findings in a comparative study
on critical success factors from implementation of ES alongside data management. Furthering
their initial study which was investigating the effects of enterprise system on business
management, the authors investigated whether ES is associated with data management in
organizations. Their study involved a random sampling of large and small organizations, their
study reported that 20 organizations participated in the study achieving 27% response rate.
Findings from this study concur with Alalwan & Weistroffer (2012) study in the sense that
Enterprise System is more effective in data management and not much effective in decision-
making and reporting. In summary, it can be deduced from the above studies that the impacts of
ES and data management are far reaching. However, the benefits may not be seen in the early
stage of implementation, the more it matures, the more impacts it yield.
Conclusion
At a glance, we have examined the impacts of Enterprise System and data management
on its users i.e. business organizations. We found that ES promise immense benefit for
organizations; many organizations are successful with it. In COMEX’s case, it has been observed
that adoption of enterprise system and data management has boost the corporates efficiency a
great deal. There are various alternatives but many firms invest in enterprise system and data
management (Holsapple, Sena & Wagner, 2019). This could be possibly due to its power. It
makes it easy for organizations to manage data.
