Deferral Statement
I originally had a deferral for this project which meant it was due late
March, which had been accepted. This deferral was due during lockdown,
as we was going through a pandemic.
I had requested a deferral again, due to having issues with logging in,
uploading the project, as well as personal issues and as it was the start of
lockdown, the university hadn’t got the systems in place at that time to
respond or get it sorted.
I had requested a deferral on time.
The deferral I had requested, is the one where the project and everything
stays as the original one which had been first handed out. But, to be
completed later, which registry had confirmed and sorted for myself.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
A business plan of organisation named “Helping Hand” is made in the following report. It consists of
ways in which organisation will be conducting all its activities in order to successfully fulfil its aims
and objectives. The organisation will be focusing on a social cause which is to help elderly people
during the time of this pandemic. Along with earning profits for self the organisation is meeting
various needs of elderly people who cannot do it for themselves.

INTRODUCTION
A business plan refers to a document in written form which describes the future of a
business and explains what is to be done in organisation and how will it be done. Business plans are
strategic in nature and are framed based upon certain goals and objectives which are to be achieved
in specific time period as well. The following report describes a business plan of an organisation
named “Helping Hands”. The following business plan contains all the details about people who will
be included in this business. The aims of business along with all the objectives for 5 coming years are

Business Summary

The idea of creating A Helping Hand came to fruition during the coronavirus
pandemic.
A number of old people were observed suffering from ignorance of their near
ones who did not focused on their needs and requirements. Mostly all stores
and supermarkets had been sold out of toilet roll, tissues, hand wash, hand
sanitizer and many stocked food items. People in the United Kingdom, had
started to hoard and collect all these items. If they were to come back into
stock, they would instantly be sold out, as customers rampaged across all
shops and stores to purchase every item.
Many times, I had been shopping through Tesco’s for essentials and had seen
elderly customers standing in long empty aisles, with no food or household
essentials in sight for them to purchase.
I kept thinking, who could they turn to? Where can they go? What can they do?
This is how the idea of A Helping Hand emerged from.
The service will be available from the 3rd August 2020, in Coventry.
Within the following weeks, we expect to be up and running across most cities
in the United Kingdom.
The service that we offer is similar to how a carer or social worker would be,
but we shall offer more attention and caring. Morning, day, or night, our

Whether an elderly person needs help with cooking breakfast, getting changed
or to just pop down to their local shop, A Helping Hand plans to be there for
them every step of the way, to make their life a little easier.
Our service will be available via app store on both android and IOS.
We offer a 24/7 customer service line, so that we may offer customers with
flexibility to contact us whenever they are in need.
In terms of price, we offer a 1-month trial period free off charge. Once the trial
period has expired customers can purchase our service between £30 to £60
per month, depending on the membership they purchase, the latter offering

The businesses will carry on as a limited liability company structure in which
Mr Mohammed Swaib will work as both owner and manager. This will be cost
effective and save the business money, rather than having to spend money on
advertisement, recruitment and then paying a manager. Secondly, we have the
investor Mr John Southerland, who will be investing funds into the company.

Mr Southerland’s funds will help start up the business and to pay for all
supplies, equipment, services, research, advertisement, taxes, and wages.
All recruitment shall be covered by Mr Mohammed Swaib as he will be

covering the managers role.
An HR advisor will be appointed who will make sure that all the employees
are satisfied with their task and compensation that they are paid for it.
The company shall hire their personal accountant, who shall keep all the
businesses expenses, and incomings up to date. Such as, wages, taxes,
expenses on stock etc.
The business will legally be registered with the government and they shall be
aware of all expenses and on-goings.

The aim of business also consist of providing employment to youth of country who
are looking for job and also interested in helping others. There are a number of

Yr 1:For the first we plan to grow as a company. In terms of growth, not
profits or income, in terms of growth we aim to spread awareness about the
company. The first year will be devoted to setting up skilled and experienced

Yr 2: Once we receive our end of year statement for our overall income and
outgoings in the first year, moving forwards into the second year, we aim to
improve the business expenses and what we can do to offer better customer
service to our clients. We aim to try and cut expenses where they are not
necessary and try to find suppliers who can offer us good competitive rates
compared to our current ones. The major objective will be to focus on

Yrs 3-5: As the business grows, we aim to try to see where else we can break
into a different market and offer new and improved services for our
customers. The company shall be aiming to see if they
can start to open businesses abroad within European countries, such as
Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Netherlands,

expansion through market development.

Responsible for: Major responsibility include staffing and recruiting. Training
and development of employees. Compensation planning and generating a
positive working environment in order to reduce employee turnover as well as
absenteeism of employees.

Position within the business: Accountant
Responsible for: Keeping up to date on all the businesses expenses and
incoming. Such as, wages, taxes, expenses on stock etc. They are also required
to prepare financial statement of business.

A Helping Hand has recently hired their accountant, Nazim Khan and HR advisor,
Hailey Wakefield.
Externally, the company has been in contact with bank advisors on how to manage
and allocate funds as the business starts up and enters its first year of opening. The
business has also asked for help from family members and friends who would enjoy
trying out working as an advanced carer for A Helping Hand. This would give them
valuable experience and if they were to be successful within the business, we’d look
to make their position with the company permanent.

Our main weaknesses are that we are a new
company starting up, in a market that does not
really have much research or data collected of it
or from it previously. This means we will have
to use extra time, effort, and expenses to conduct
our own market research.
As they are a new company and Mr Swaib will
being going into business himself, the lack of

service we offer and the market they are in can
have an impact and cause severe repercussions

Helping Hand hopes to open more franchises
and branches across the UK and eventually, in

Competitors will always remain as threats for the
business. The competitors the business faces up
against is carers, social workers, support officers,
etc.
The main threat is the coronavirus and infections
themselves. As we are going through a pandemic
throughout the whole world, this leaves a sense of
vulnerability to both our workers in office and
workers who must travel to customers at home.

Our target audience that the company is mainly aiming towards is elderly
customers over the age of 50. Elderly people who were suffering, not mainly
because of the pandemic itself, but due to the selfishness of people. Mostly all stores

sanitizer and many stocked food items. People mainly in the United Kingdom, had

A Helping Hands main competitor are social workers, carers, and support officers.
The competitors all have a strong company foundation and their companies are
well known. So, advertising is not a must for them, which saves them expenses.
They also offer remarkably similar services to what we offer but not in as much
detail as we are willing to go for our customers.
However our business model offers services which customers require and
the quality of service provided by our care takers will be better as they are well
trained.

The building we are renting is based just on the outskirts of the city centre. This
means we will increase the likeliness of large amounts of people who may walk past
the store and be interested in the services we offer. As we are based in the city
centre, we are central to everyone within the city, which means we are more easily
accessible to customers.
The building is very spacious which allows employees to keep a safe distance from
each other while being at work during the pandemic.
There is also a large car park outside and on-site cafeteria, with many shops close
by in town.
As a business we felt it was best to rent the building for the first couple of years.
From there, we can calculate our finances and expenses. This will then allow us to
calculate if we can afford to purchase a bigger building as we grow both internally
and externally.
As there is the pandemic, which is currently ongoing, we do have employees who
will be working from home as they fall into the vulnerable employees’ category.
These could include employees who are pregnant, asthmatic, diabetic, have young
or elderly family members at home or have any family members with those stated
above, then they would most likely stay and work from home. This is to ensure both
their and their family’s safety during this difficult time.
Expenses:

As a business, before calculating any profits. We must calculate all our expenses. As
a business we will have many expenses, from lighting to heating, gas, electricity,
fuel, water, food, suppliers, wages, taxes, legal costs, and licenses. (Vartanian 2011:

Licences/Registration:
In terms of licensing, we firstly had to ensure that we would be accepted to run a
business that essentially offers health services, in terms of taking care of customers,
and that we would be allowed to open this business. We had to propose a business
plan regarding how we would ensure the safety of all customers and employees
during this difficult time.
For licensing, we also ensure all our employees are medically trained professionals,
just in case of an emergency or if anything was to occur.
We background checked all our employees before they start. This ensures we only
hire the best employees, who have the customers at heart and will try their best to
go above and beyond for them.
We ensure that all our employees keep a neat and tidy image. This is both for health
and safety issues and for brand representation. A Helping Hand wants to show

Why did you select the premises? What choices did you have?
The reason as to why we had selected this premises was because the building we

We have equipment such as defibrillators just in case of an emergency if an
employee were to go on a call out to a customer’s house. Health wise we ensure all

employees take body cleaning kit, so that they can always be of extra assistance to
the customer and ensure that the customer keeps a satisfactory hygiene level.

vending machines, televisions, and security badges.
Employees on call outs can take tablets, laptops or company phones and vehicles.
For the defibrillators, cars, and vending machines, we would have them on lease, as
we could use them when and as we need, and it would save us having to spend large
amounts during our first year as a business.
