Environmental Building Design Principles Residential Project

This project involves a review and redesign of a medium-density residential development, incorporating Environmental Building Design (EBD) principles. The initial design, featuring eight mixed single and two-story units, is analyzed for improvement. The student reconfigures the site layout to enhance environmental performance and details a specific unit, integrating passive design methods, energy-efficient measures, and renewable technology. The project includes A3 format drawings, including a site plan and a 1:100 scale unit plan, elevations, and a cross-section. The goal is to maximize development potential while prioritizing sustainable and environmentally conscious design strategies, emphasizing elements like solar photovoltaic collectors, orientation for optimal sunlight, natural ventilation strategies, and shading to minimize energy consumption and maximize comfort. The project highlights the application of EBD principles in residential design, addressing aspects such as site layout, building orientation, and the integration of renewable energy systems.
