Introduction
This paper summarizes content on deforestation, atmosphere, ecosystem and agriculture.
Deforestation is the act of destroying forests permanently while the atmosphere is a composition
of the oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, aerosols and other gases that support life surrounding
the earth. Ecosystem is the community of animals and plants in a certain area interacting with
each other and non-living surroundings while agriculture is the art and science of growing crops
and keeping livestock. Choosing these topics is driven by the need to safeguard the environment.
Deforestation affects the balance of gases in the atmosphere that alter the ecosystem, food web,
leading to the death of living organisms and poor agricultural practice. There needs to be a
balanced flow of energy on the earth, lest animals and life become extinct (Watanabe, Kapur,
Aydın, Kanber, & Akça, 2018).
Review
Deforestation is the act of destroying forests permanently by clear-cutting and burning of trees so
as to have land available for other purposes such as timber harvesting, farming, urbanization and
housing. If current levels of deforestation continue, animals and plants will lose their habitats,
soil erosion increases and water cycles are interrupted, thus, the atmospheric quality diminishes
(Aleixandre-Benavent, Aleixandre-Tudó, Castelló-Cogollos, & Aleixandre, 2018).
The atmosphere is comprised of the oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, aerosols and other gases
that support life. Carbon dioxide is useful in photosynthesis but is a greenhouse gas, therefore,
has an effect on the atmospheric temperatures. Atmospheric water vapour aids in hydrologic
cycle whereas the ozone layer absorbs UV rays from the sunlight. Furthermore, aerosols have an

influence cloud growth, atmospheric heat balance and scatter light. Current human activities are
affecting the atmosphere and ecological system (Ibe & Amikuzuno, 2019).
Changes in the atmosphere create hostile habitats that disrupt the ecosystem, a community of
animals and plants in a certain area interacting with each other as well as their non-living
surroundings. This means broken food web where primary producers trapping energy from the
sunlight should distribute it to primary, secondary and tertiary consumers. Decomposers also
reduce thus a reduction in organic matters decomposition to feed producers. Reduced
decomposition rate affects agriculture (Ibe & Amikuzuno, 2019).
Agriculture is the art and science of growing crops and keeping livestock, distributing energy
through the ecosystem. Improved technology and atmospheric changes interfere with fisheries’
works. Global warming has caused species to migrate thus altering the ecosystem. The GMO
seeds allow the use of harmful chemicals that contaminate groundwater and soil while rampant
irrigation lowers water table. Improved biotechnologies led to various crop inventions with high-
yields that demand fewer pesticides and fertilizers, thus, lowering pollution and costs of
production. Safeguarding water, agricultural land and atmosphere, the world may solve
agricultural challenges (Alexander et al., 2018).
Conclusion
My vision to safeguard the environment from contamination made me discover the relationship
between agriculture, deforestation, ecosystem and atmosphere as outlined in this paper.
Safeguarding the environment balances energy flow in the earth’s surface thus preventing food
chain disruption, global warming and death of animals and plants (Watanabe et al., 2018).
