Introduction
In the contemporary globalized world the private organizations have been given the
freedom to carry out any activities of their choice which are financially beneficial to them. This
is because of the very nature of such private organizations; they are profit oriented in essence and
wants to increase their level of profit margin at every turn of their business (AghaKouchak,
2015). As a result of this, the environment is severely affected by the activities of such private
organizations. The resources are exploited by the organizations to the extent that they adversely
impact the lives of the people (Agutu et al., 2017). The main thesis statement of the essay is to
discuss the historical degeneration of the environment as a result of the activities of the private
organizations. It further analyzes how the working of the private organizations have led to
different environmental problems such as that of droughts, floods and landslides, impacting the
human race. The essay concludes with the significance of the environment and how it is
important to protect and conserve this environment for the good of the people.
Impact of Environment Degradation
The main theme of this section is to analyze the impact of environmental degradation on
the people of the world. The occurrence of natural hazards within the surface of the Earth such as
tectonic shifts beneath the earth causing earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides or other changes in
the climate as heavy rain, cloudburst which can lead to flash floods as witnessed in recent times
in various urban cities of the world (Fisher et al., 2015). All of these changes are a result of the
environment degradation. The impact of such severe environmental activities lead to the
destruction of property and the lives of the people. Billions of dollars’ worth of property are
destroyed when an earthquake occurs and when a volcano erupts, Moreover, another severe

impact on environment is that of the degradation of the environment. This leads to the death and
injury of many people across the world.
Factors which impact the environment
There are several factors which impact the environment and they are both natural and
manmade in nature. The natural factors which affect the environment are that of the process of
heating up of the atmosphere as a result of the Sun (Franchini & Mannucci, 2015). Moreover, the
earthquakes and the volcanic activities that occur within the surface of the earth also adversely
impacts the atmosphere, leading to its degeneration. The eruption of volcanoes lead to the
exposure of certain materials from deep inside the earth along with a lot of carbon and dust. All
of these affect the environment by increasing the pollution level of the air.
The man-made factors which impact the atmosphere is mainly that of the functioning of
the various industries. The age of industrialization led to the emergence of many organizations
which were mainly trying to garner more profits (Gizaw & Gan, 2017). This was possible only
due to exploitative activity of the organizations. They utilized the resources of the earth without
any limitation trying to generate higher profit levels. As a result of this, the environment is
severely affected by the activities of such private organizations. The resources are exploited by
the organizations to the extent that they adversely impact the lives of the people.
Environment Protection Framework
An environmental protection framework was deemed to be essential for protecting the
environment. The main theme of this section is to look in to such an environmental framework. It
was in the latter half of the twentieth century that the United Nations General Assembly which
declared the decade of 1990-2000 as the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction. It

had the main objective of reducing the loss of property, livelihood and activate mitigation as well
as strategies for concerted efforts from global quarters and in developing countries (McNally et
al., 2016). Climate change and disaster management communities do not have a common
strategy as they majorly operate in isolation with one another. According to ProAct, it is believed
that greater co-operation is required between the concerned agencies as it would increase the
efficiency for reducing the vulnerability of people. Acknowledging of the increasing impact of
natural disasters globally. It need a concerted effort from all parameters to augment the pliability
of nations and communities. The year 2005 is remarkable as, one hundred and sixty eight
governments has siged the Hyogo Framework for Action in the year 2005-2015. The Hyogo
Framework for Action 2005-2015: Building the Resilience of Nations and Communities to
Disasters (HFA) has the mian objective of providing environmental relief to the people.
Literature Review for the need of environmental protection
There are several literature which exist pertaining to the environmental degradation that
can be noticed all around the world in the recent times. Yadav & Barve (2016) discusses about
the natural calamities that occur in India as a result of the climatic changes. The degradation
of the environment occurs as a result of the man-made activities such as over exploitation of the
resources of the Earth. The private organization do not take much concern for the well-being of
the society and as a result of their activities the common people have to suffer. According to the
authors, the landmass of India is severely affected with landslides and regular earthquake. Much
of these can be attributed to the natural activities of the earth itself. The earthquakes are a result
of the release of pressure from inside the surface of the earth and the volcanoes are also of the
similar structure. However, the land has been made unstable due to so much pressure from the
population and the construction activities. Moreover, the activities of mining has also made the

land unsafe. All of these factors have contributed together to the climate change and posing a
severe threat to human kind.
One of the most affected regions is that of Africa (Vrieling et al., 2016). The climatic
changes have posed a serious threat to the continent of Africa, especially in the region of
sahara. The scarcity of water has affected the people in Africa severely (Mohanan & Menon,
2016). According to the author, Africa is the first continent in the world where life sources have
occurred. However, the degradation of the environment has brought about many changes in the
world, such as that of increasing the sea water level but reducing the availability of fresh water.
All of these changes have occurred because of the activities of the private organization. The
businesses all around the water have led to the over exploitation of the resources. The man-made
factors which impact the atmosphere is mainly that of the functioning of the various industries.
The age of industrialization led to the emergence of many organizations which were mainly
trying to garner more profits.
Conclusion
In conclusion it is observed that environment is the most important aspect of human life.
It is the structure of the atmosphere that separates the planet of the Earth from all other planets in
the solar system. The very existence of atmosphere helps the people to survive and hence, its
protection and conservation is of paramount importance. However, the activities of the private
organizations are such that it poses a severe threat to the environment, leading to its degeneration
and degradation. The need of the present contemporary world is to put in place several important
mechanisms and policies which would help the people to protect and conserve the environment.
The responsibility of the various nation states of the world becomes important in this regard
where they are given the power and the authority to ensure that the environment is well looked

after. Now, it only remains for the nations states to execute their responsibilities in an effective
and efficient manner.
