LO1
P1 Discuss the regulations how impact on the use, storage and handling of a selection of
vocationally typical construction materials.
One of many hazardous workplaces includes the construction sites as they can involve different
kind of dangerous tasks. As per analysis, it has been revealed that materials handling equipment
is a major cause of accidents at particular sites. Through safety measures which being followed
or monitored continuously, accident rates are becoming high as either worker, who are unable to
aware about the hazardous or safety related regulations (Omer and Noguchi, 2020). In this way,
it has been improved understanding towards regulation which can directly impact on the use,
storage and handling of construction materials such as concrete, cement, glass and many more.
Compliance with safety regulation is consider as perpetually top of mind within construction
site. But non-compliance can increase as unsafe working conditions for employees, costly fines,
and work stoppage. Within worst condition, revocation of certifications or licensing that
construction company need to conduct the enterprise. According to the Code of federal
regulations (CFR), it is mainly covered the virtually any physical workplace, Also applicable as
Safety and health act that will support for enforcing this regulation in proper manner. On the
other hand, there are few most commonly health & safety related regulation applicable for
material handling, Including Occupational Health and Safety Act.

This kind of regulation will support for use, storage and handling the typical construction
materials in building sites.
By using the Risk Assessment, it can help to address any kind of hazards in which
applicable the health and safety act to perform the different activities. In this way, it is making an
effective plan to handle the typical construction materials.
ď‚· Identify what could cause injury or illness in the construction sites.
ď‚· Deciding how likely it could be harmed and seriously cause individual person
ď‚· Take a suitable action to eliminate or remove the hazards, possible to control them.
LO2
P2 Identify the material environmental profiling and lifecycle assessment
In BAM construction company, contractor is basically used the environmental profile as consider
the standardised method for identifying and assessing the environmental effects associated with
building materials over their life cycle (Mashwama, Thwala and Aigbavboa, 2020). It can use in
the extraction, processing and use or maintenance of disposal materials. This type of Life cycle
Assessment method is explained in the diagram below:

Compression test on the precast concrete core-
The extracting the concrete sample and then testing for its core strength, which often
considered the most cost effective and reliable solution. In fact, it should consider multiple
codes, guidelines and then approved the method for testing. In this way, it help to identify the
current existing structure of Concrete slab panel (Marcher, Giusti and Matt, 2020). Through this
way, it is also identifies the current strength of panel in which handle core actions such as
maintain moisture, control a safety mobilization.
The pull out test-
It is another important concept that is tensile force which is mainly required to pull a disk,
together with layer of concrete from surface to which it is completely attracted. This is
completely related to the compressive length of concrete material. Generally, it is morally used
to test or diagnosis of strength problem. Therefore, it involves testing a small piece of equipment
to fix through nuts, screw and bolts.
Rebound Hammer for concrete strength-
Usually, it is another way to test the current strength, characteristics performance of
precast concrete Slab material. It can be used rebound hammer which primarily works on the
basis of significant principles. In order to measure rebound of spring driven mass after its impact
with slab. New version of testing which have been commercialised, used that help for engineer to
find its material properties.
