Response to question 1: Reasons for enrolling into the environmental policy
program and emphasizing on the academic interests
One of the major reasons for enrolling into the environmental policy program includes
having an understanding of the interdisciplinary activities into the field of environmental
protection. Moreover it can help in understanding the interaction between the human beings and
the environmental culture and also nature. These programs can help in integrating the methods
and knowledge from different disciplines and each of these disciplines study special
environmental aspects independently. The main aim of the program is to achieve a balance
between human beings and the environment by understanding the different aspects of social and
cultural factors. Therefore the program aims at getting a proper understanding of the reasons for
ecological changes taking place, the reasons for the environmental changes and others. I am
personally interested in this subject because I am interested in knowing the way my activities
affect the natural world. Further I am interested in knowing the actions undertaken by the state to
look to overcome these issues. Moreover since I come from a background of environmental
science therefore I have interest in understanding different concepts of environmental protection
and policies.

The research interests needs to be outlined in the academic paper. This is so because the
statement of research interest includes a proposal for the academic research that is going to take
place in future and the same is built upon current expertise and expertise of the researcher. The

The environmental policy program is going to be a good fit professionally and
academically for me because I am from a background of environmental science and therefore
this program will add value to my existing knowledge and skills. Moreover I also want a career
in environmental planning and therefore this course will help me in becoming an environmental
planner2. I have done my higher education with subjects such as biology, chemistry, mathematics
and geography and therefore I have always had interest in environmental science.

My short term goals include completing my environmental policy program with good
scores, taking part in different voluntary activities such as tree plantation, conducting different
rally’s for spreading awareness related to environment protection. Further I plan to become an
environmental planner after my graduation. An environmental planner has the responsibility for
ensuring that all the environmental policies have duly been complied with while carrying out the
development projects.
