Federal Government of the United States has passed various laws to protect the
environment as well as protects human health. The Environment Protection Agency is one of
the federal agencies of the government that is responsible for the protection of the
environment, and it establishes to ensure the safety and well-being of the humankind. The
primary purpose of this study is to understand the functioning of the government body and to
identify how it enables the growth of the private and the public sectors by enabling the
protection of the environment and the humankind.
The Environmental Protection Agency aims to protect the environment and human
health (Sabo et al, 2016). It was established in December 1970 by the orders of President
Richard Nixon. Environmental Protection Agency is also responsible for promoting the laws
and the standards of living of both nature and the human (Louisiana Environmental Action
Network, 2020). The main reason for the formation of such agency was in response to the
widespread environmental concerns that started to gain its momentum in the 1960s. It further
aims at researching the effects of the pollutants and imposing limits upon the usage of the
environment. EPA regulates all the manufacturing, processing, distribution and the usage of
many other chemicals and other pollutants with the determination of tolerance level that will
be safe for human usage and other living creatures. EPA establishes its findings through
penalties and sanctions (Binns, 2015). Criminal proceedings are charged against such person
who does not comply with the rules laid down by the agency. EPA conducts these
environmental programs through various other programs. The main intentions for such
promotions are to encourage sustainable growth and development by ensuring the safe use of
the products by not hampering it and by not overusing the resources. For example “The
Energy Star Program”, “Water Sense”, “The Smart Growth Program”, and “The National
Pollutant Discharge Elimination System”.

The Environmental Protection Agency prevents environmental crimes, monitor the
level of pollutants and set the standard for handling hazardous wastes and chemicals. EPA
not only ensures the protection of the environment and human health, but it also ensures the
growth of the economy as well as the private sectors. It has also pursued several approaches
that are through the voluntary participation of the people. It runs various kinds of trade
programs that will be cost-effective and will aim at the reduction of the toxins present in the
environment (US EPA, 2020). Due to the increase in pollution, the private sectors get more
inclined towards bio-friendly products. This regulatory body has helped in achieving all such
goals by ensuring the protection to nature and humanity.
In conclusion, the Environmental protection Agencies is the government regulatory
body that successfully ensures the protection of the environment as well as the humankind.
With its aim for protection, it also ensures the growth of the economy and the private sectors
in a way that will not be harmful to the humankind, the toxic effect on nature will also be less
by following the rules, and the limitations imposed for its usage.
