Air pollution
Air pollution is one of the most dangerous causes of depleting environmental health,
thereby demands urgent response and actions. The increasing air pollution in the countries
like USA and China, the governmental bodies are attempting to involve every individual to
respond to the serious condition as the combined efforts such as using public transportation
and establishing air pollution control units are helping majorly with the current condition.
The cost involved in establishing environmental control standards and equipment needs to be
compensated from individual contribution with governmental funds (Ma). Although air
pollution may seem insignificant with the thought of not being a physical concern, it portrays
direct consequences on the human health and overall economic condition of a country. Air
pollution directly affects human health, affects productivity due to contamination of food; it
affects the historical and cultural institutions and majorly affects the capability of ecosystems
in performing the functions of the society. These consequences of air pollution ultimately
involve costs for restoration or remediation, which can be prevented with initial focus and
investment in preventing the causes by introducing an improved system of operations and
improved human actions (Nationalgeographic.com). Although the remedial steps as discussed
in the article involve the rate of public involvement, it should not only focus on public
transport but should focus on the reengineering of the sources of emission by introducing
electric vehicles and avoiding air conditioners below 78 degrees Fahrenheit. The remedial
step or replacement of the sources of air pollution will demand heavy investment in the initial
stage. However, the long-term results will directly reflect the Return on Investment by
avoiding the health concerns caused due to poor air quality and will save the ozone layer,
thereby protecting individuals from skin diseases.
