INTRODUCTION
Environmental sustainability is defined as responsibilities required for the earth's well
being with ability to conserve resources for future use and sustainability. The report focus on
Morrison, one of the top leading retail supermarket of U.K. which works on to-make and provide
good quality products to their customers. The study also focus on major issues faced by the
organization for environmental sustainability and also about the required preventative measures
needed to taken. Also, about different initiative and strategies adapted by firm with contributing
towards society and ecosystem.
Part 1 Issues of environmental sustainability:
The environmental sustainability refers as the duty revolve around making world a better
and sustainable. (Jeswani, Chilvers, and Azapagic, 2020). The major issues faced by Morrisons
is to sustain in the market by providing customers with degradable bio friendly bags. Initially,
company face huge backlash and major issues for providing their customers with non renewable
plastic bags. With increasing plastic content may remain in environment for quite many years as,
these are not breakable by micro organisms and are non biodegradable. Products being stored in
bags tends to convert in non usable, because bags being made with usage of toxic chemicals.
Company faces issues regarding their products packaging, as well as impacts in
delivering. The environmental impacts of product decreases with shelf life by extracting all
natural resources present, results in converting products into toxic which harm both consumers
health and business environment (Furstenau, and et.al., 2020). Another issue faced by firm was
not providing consumers with energy efficient packaging and delivering as consumers demand
for renewable source of packaging. Even as more usage of feasible packaging is more efficient
and less toxic with liberating very less poison in environment (Evangelista, Santoro, and
Thomas, 2018). Also replacing firms old techniques along with new ones, for developing into
energy efficient saving firm. Enterprise also gets criticized by experts for their old strategies
results in harming of environment.
Preventative measures taken by Company
After the backlashes firm have taken some preventive measures by adopting policy of
converting all available plastic bags and packaging into renewable paper bags. After adapting
new strategies Morrisons been voted as the most environmentally responsible organisation in
nation. Working through all different brand products to reduce, identify and removal of any

unnecessary plastic intakes in packaging. As firm being awarded for quite number of awards for
ground-breaking actions taken, which seen over 9,000 tonnes of plastic being eliminated or
convert into recyclable for further usages. Organisation also been voted top supermarket for
group of 23 companies while converting normal plastic packaging into recyclable packagings.
The company majorly focus on regular analysing, checking and conducting inspection for
determination of plastic. With working by launching six “zero waste” stores which aims to
recycle all packaging and unsold food by 2025. In addition, being responsible for recycling soft
plastics too for the very time in nation, with no waste shipping to another countries for
processing. Later implementation of new strategies and policy company, being able to recycle
6% of plastic present and more for future coming (Pauer, and et.al., 2019). Pledging to convert
environment to more recyclable and sustainable. Company also initiates to develop a separate
team of highly trained personal given major task of checking, identifying and eliminating of
plastic ever being present after production, this new feature allows enterprise to deliver their
customers with environment efficient products and having customer satisfaction and trust build
with them.
CONCLUSION
From the above study of report, gets to know more about Morrison’s working towards
environmental sustainability. The report delivers the knowledge of sustainable development. The
study also shows about the major challenges or issues faced by the company in the field of
sustainable development. This report includes, major preventative decisions and actions taken by
the organization to reduce already emerged issue and upcoming one's for global wealth and
sustainability. By implementing different strategical plans to convert their normal working into
efficient sustainable working.
RECOMMENDATIONS
This in the response to, Morrison management faces bigger problems and issues in the
field of sustainable development.
 The firm can develop some software for identification and detection of available plastic
present in the products, so they can eliminate identified plastic as soon as possible.
 Company can established a team of highly qualified workers having their main task of
check about the usage of plastic in the production process of firm.

 Additionally organisation can change or convert their hard plastic into soft degradable
plastic for more sustainability and usability.
 Enterprise can further use renewal resources instead of normal one's for more effective
production and better sustainability in environment.
 Although company is using paper bags for environment saving, but can use easily
breakable biodegradable bags for more efficient environment.
Part 2 Reflective writing
In this module, I have learned about environmental sustainability and how it is important
for both organisations and persons for improving and making surroundings more sustainable.
With growing of pollution in habitat, it have became very hard for all living beings to survive
(Centobelli, Cerchione, and Esposito, 2020). With the regular emerging pollution of air, water
and land it's our responsibility to conserve and take care of it. In this study I also learned about
distinct areas of sustainability in human, social, economic and environmental. As sustainability
aids in improving the quality of lives, preserving resources and protects our ecosystem. With the
regular growing environmental problems it's necessary for all, to use renewable energy, recycling
of materials like metal, cans, iron, hard plastic and minerals. Sustaining environment leads to
have good and improved societal impact on all with reducing energy usage for betterment.
Moreover to have future for all living beings.
The learning of environment sustainability is important as it aims to improve the quality
of living beings, without stressing on earth's supporting system. As we have seen, that
environmental sustainability provides huge benefits for all including humans, animals and even
organisation (Catlin, Luchs, and Phipps, 2017). It helps in reduction of carbon foot prints and
human's reliability on fossil fuels and other harmful energies. Learning about environment
conservation is also important in terms of organization perspective too, organisation does
contributes in environment and it also aids companies in improving their brand value or image in
market and will provide with a huge competitive advantage.
Improves productivity and reduction of costs. Sustainability of environment also helps
business in increasing employment and investors for firms with huge waste reduction.
Regardless of who we are, where we live and what we do sustainability of environment is
important, as it ensures to have a future for all without environmental sustainability there will be
nothing. By using all the measures we can make an impact in sustaining environment.

From the module I have learned about how environmental sustainability is use as it is
required at all levels of working both at personal level and organisation level (Dragomir, 2018).
The learning is going to be useful as I will be able to know more about problems that we are
facing also about different remedies that we can use for conservation of environment. With
module I have also learned communication skills as with asking different personal and reviews
about how we can do more or what suggestions they can deliver in making environment more
sustainable. Also this learning can be use in any organization to choose the preventive measures
so, they can provide environmental friendly products to customers and also can contribute
towards making environment a better place. We can also initiate new plans required to make our
organization to produce more environment hazardous-free products and make an impact on
making world a better place.
Part-3 Personal Development Plan
Personal Development plan, also known as PDP is an action plan tends to focuses on
identifying individuals goals and what is required to be achieved. PDP aids in achieve a clear
vision of understanding of skills needs to develop (Mazzotti, and et.al., 2018). With the help of
PDP may contribute in solving of areas of lacking with proper usage of approaches to make
efforts more successful. Plan, contributed in developing of skills area which are lacking as with
providing suitable methods. The plan also aids in scheduling about how much time is required to
solve problems and also about success criteria. I have learn more about self development with
the usage of plan and also by various analysing, interpreting and using appropriate ways to
develop skills or change old skills into enhanced.
