In the modern world, sustainable development plays an important role for business
organisations. The manners in which sustainable development can be maintained in
organisations need to be developed by taking into account the sustainable designs, which are
to be maintained. According to Assembly (2015), sustainable design helps in the designing of
objects that can help in the development of an oriented plan that takes into account features
that include environmental factors. It is necessary that an evolution of the human and natural
relationships be made which can be used to develop sustainability in the organisations and the
society.
It is essential that environmental leaders address the exert influence across the
boundaries of an organisation by using the personal power that is provided. Leadership in
terms of environmental sustainability development need to be based on the manner in which
leaders can influence the occurrence of change in the environment. As stated by Boks, Lilley
and Pettersen (2017) it is for this reason it is said that every leader need to take into account
the relationships it has with the society so that corporate social responsibility can be achieved
and organisations can continue to thieve by maintaining the sustainability required for its
existence.
The aim is to ensure the possibility of one living planet with focus on health and
happiness along with travel and transport. Therefore, as stated by Lindh, Olsson and Williams
(2016) initiatives from the managers to manage sustainable design can help in the better
execution and application of the designs. The essay focuses on a research related to
environmental sustainable design and the personal understanding of the method. At the same
time, a reflection is provided which helps in the development of the research and understands

Research on environmental sustainable design
In a sustainable society, it is necessary that natural resources and the nature itself
increase in a significant manner so that the concentration of substances can be extracted from
the Earth’s crust. At the same time, Russell-Smith et al. (2015) stated that people are not
subjected to conditions which help in the systematic undermining of the capacity that meets
the needs of the people. In this regard, it can be said that the risks associated with time as
well as environmental sustainable design can help in the development of initiatives along
with the pressure to value the managerial levels of identifying the initiatives of business
(Kibert 2016).
According to Oduyemi and Okoroh (2016), environmentally sustainable design can be
considered as a philosophy that helps in the designing of physical objects related to the
building of environment as well as the service required for the principles involved in the
ecological sustainability. Charter and Tischner (2017) stated that the intention with which the
sustainable design takes place could be associated with the elimination of negative impact
that is completely via skilful as well as sensitive design. The biggest impact of sustainable
design can be considered as the design related decisions that occur everywhere on a daily

Therefore, it can be said that environmental sustainable design encompasses

necessary that the leaders maintain an open-minded approach while trying to include
sustainability among organisations. According to Kibert (2016), the democratic approach can
help in the development of planned activities that can assist the leaders to perform its best for
the organisation and to encourage the development of sustainability. Hence, it can be said that
the sustainability factor of an organisation is based on the development of the leadership
potential.
Personal understanding of ESD
From the analysis of the concept of environmental sustainable design, it can be seen
that the designing of the environment need to be made based on the requirements of the
people. For example, in my personal opinion the development of the environmental
sustainable design can help in analysing the type of structure that is required so that
development can be made about the analysis of the sustainability required. Van Dam et al.
(2015) stated that potential initiatives such as conservation of rainwater could help in the
development of the energy level in a society. Boks, Lilley and Pettersen (2017) opined that
with the stored water, irrigation as well as water efficient techniques can be taken into
consideration.
Therefore, solar water heating pumps and heat recovery can benefit from the
geothermal battery storage that exists in society. Along with this, Keeler and Vaidya (2016)

stated that the development of theories related to the sustainable designing could help in the
elimination of the environmental factors that can help in the manifestation of the renewable
resources that may have an impact on the environment. Hence, Assembly (2015) stated that
connection with people could be made with the natural environment and sustainable

At the same time, as observed by Lindh, Olsson and Williams (2016) environmental
sustainable design can be associated with the unsustainable investment and waste prevention
that can help in negating the effects of waste so that waste prevention strategy can be
imposed for the development and changes in climate. In this regard, it can be said that for the
development of environmental sustainable design principles related to the concept can be
applied such as low impact of materials, energy efficiency and so on (Russell-Smith et al.
2015).
Along with this, it can be understood that leadership plays an important role in the
development of the ESD. As observed by Oduyemi and Okoroh (2016) the manner in which a
leader can continue to make progress in the market accounts for the development of a
leadership capability that provides an idea about the growth of sustainability in the
environment. It has been understood that for a leader to inspire the development of
sustainable practises, it is necessary that success of the leader precede the activities
undertaken. For example, as stated by Van Dam et al. (2015) it is necessary that the leaders
continue with a proper work in place so that the development of environmental sustainable
design can be inspired. The leaders need to take accountability for the costs of the
organisation and the manner in which the designing can benefit the existence of the
organisation.
Personal reflection of ESD

understanding of the problem, a personalised reflection can be made which can help in
understanding the effectiveness as well as the importance of the concept. My personal
reflection can be because the development of environmental sustainable design can be
associated with the principles so that variation among the disciplines can take place that can
help in the low impact of the issue. At the same time, as seen from the analysis of Kibert
(2016) the effective environmental sustainable design can help in measuring the level of
carbon footprint and continue with a life-cycle assessment for the increasing use of any
resource.
However, Oduyemi and Okoroh (2016) observed that a negative side of the use of
environmental sustainable design is that the application and implementation need to be
precise and at the same time the bill of rights for the planet need to insist on the level of
humanity that exists so that a diverse sustainability development can take place. Based on this
a conclusion can be made to effectively summarise the concept of environmental sustainable
design.
In my personal understanding of leadership and its practises, it can be said that my
values and principles can help me to become an efficient leader in the development of
environmental sustainable design. The encouragement in the form of maintaining the
discipline of work need to be made so that application of the bill of rights for the planet can
be applied to for the development of an organisation. In this regard, it can be said that an
unique offer of value need to be provided that can help in understanding the effectiveness of
the leaders in an organisation.

implementation of environmental sustainable design can be attributed to the fact that it helps

the development of window and doorframe selection so that energy recovery ventilation can
be taken into account. At the same time, it can be concluded that with the aim of uniting the
planet, the development of the health and happiness of the people along with the equity and
local economy can be taken into consideration. The application of the leadership styles also
contribute for the development and successful planning of environmental sustainable design
so that benefit can be provided to the people in the society as well as those working at
organisations.
The goal is to ensure that zero carbon energy is wasted and the managers trying to
develop environmental sustainable design need to be involved in trying to develop and evolve
the sustainable designs which can take place in a society. Therefore, it can be said that
initiatives such as protection and saving of water as well as energy can help in the
development of the initiatives associated with the development of the environmental
sustainable design. Hence, managers as well as the society need to undertake effective
strategies so that environmental sustainable design can be made to full effect.
