EPORTFOLIO PLAN 2
Aim/Purpose
Even though eportfolios are used for diverse operations, this eportfolio plan focuses on
creating an eportfolio that enhance professional development in Community Nursing. The
eportfolio will enable me to monitor the development of my competencies for a specific period
of time. The portfolio shall contain material documents which will provide evidence of what has
been accomplished in order to achieve social and professional learning needs. The portfolio shall
be used as a plan for professional development. The portfolio shall contain a learning plan, and a
log of continuing professional activities with supportive documents together with an evaluation
of the outcomes. The portfolio shall contain a list of accomplished learning activities, evaluation
of the effectiveness in promoting continues competency and professional growth, and finally,
specify the goals yet to be accomplished in the community nursing profession.
Narrative of the Development Process
The development process shall entail a four-step process. The first step is the assessment
process (Oermann, 2018). As a registered community nurse, I will start by evaluating my
knowledge and skills in order to identify the gaps (areas which require development). From the
assessment, I will be able to identify personal and professional goals to be met.
After the assessment phase, I will proceed to the development of a plan for meeting the
learning needs in community nursing (Andre, & Heartfield, 2017). At this point, I will engage in
diverse courses of action including the reading of research articles, continued learning, and study
of publications in community nursing career. At this stage, I will also set the timelines for the
achievement of the specific goals and objectives.

The third step is the implementation stage. At this point, I will transform the documented
activities into action. It is also the implementation stage that shall contain the material facts that
shall be collected for the eportfolio.
The fourth and final stage of the development process is the evaluation phase. At this
point, the outcomes of the learning process shall be compared to the objectives and goals of the
plan. After that, the remedies shall be identified, and the corrective measures are undertaken for
the effective development process.
Eportfolio Platform to be Utilized
Despite the fact that there are plenty of eportfolio platforms, the most commonly used are
word press and Weebly. Following my preferences, I will use Weebly platform due to diverse
reasons. Firstly, Weebly is straight forward. Weebly is very easy and intuitive. Furthermore, the
user interface at Weebly is extremely simple (Jeremy, 2018). Secondly, the platform is an
authentic tool. Additionally, the platform provides learning opportunities which will promote my
skills in community nursing. Most importantly, Weebly is export friendly. Burt (2016), presents
the issue of time, money and energy wastage in new web service as the platforms close their
doors and move from free to paid only as the fundamental crisis accompanying platforms. He,
therefore, suggests the choice of platforms which are export-friendly (Burt, 2016). For this
reason, I would opt for Weebly as my eportfolio platform as it allows for exportation of contents
stored. The platform allows one to download the entire website as a zip archive file which can be
imported to another website builder (Charmichael, 2019).
Material Facts to be Collected
The portfolio shall contain my name and contact information as an identification strategy.
The site shall also outline my education including the grades attained at each level for easy

assessment of the educational development regarding the community nursing profession
(Keuntjes, 2018). The portfolio shall also include personal certifications and licensure
information. Most importantly, it will contain development information and organization
affiliations. I will also include experiences and examples to illustrate my communication skills,
leadership and teamwork competencies. Furthermore, I will include references and their contacts,
letters of recommendation, copies of evaluation and other relevant transcripts attained in the
community nursing profession.
Relevance to the Career development in the Nursing Specialty
Eportfolio enables a community nurse to reflect on individual skills and experience thus
helping in the determination of one’s qualification towards the job position (Cope, 2018). A
nursing profession is a critical area that attracts a higher level of professionalism. Therefore, one
has to develop a strategy of self-assessment in order to prevent errors that may lead to
prosecution and fines during the nursing practice. The eportfolio also enables one to reflect on
how clinical and classroom experience has promoted growth and development in the career since
the beginning of the community nursing school. Eportfolio is essential in providing the employer
with an in-depth understanding of one’s experience, evaluations, awards and education in the
community nursing profession. In so doing, the site enables one to stand out among other
applicants.
Time Bound
The time-bound varies with the development areas outlined within the eportfolio. The
developmental areas shall be completed at different time zones. However, the Eportfolio is
expected to be completed in four weeks’ time after the submission of this outline.
