EVIDENCE BASED NURSING RESEARCH 2
Introduction
Studying any course needs the learner to specifically look and have a plan of how his or
her study must be. It is for this reason that I have come up with my e-portfolio. Professional
portfolio simply is the collection of valid evidence and information that specifies the continuing
development of a person’s professional career (Andre & Heartfield, 2011, pg. 04). Thus, the e-
portfolio is the collection of a person’s career development facts that is stored and/or presented
in an electronic format. These pieces of evidence may include the likes of activities, professional
achievement, competencies, and goals of that particular individual.
These portfolios serve a variety of purposes including for a student such as creativity,
reflection on the goals, celebrating success, and the developing of the formative valuation
(Andre, 2010). Other purposes include the analysis of the present and past education levels,
applying the practical knowledge on shaping performance, and having a direction of future
career and goals as well (Andre & Heartfield, 2011, pg. 05).
My career
I am aiming at attaining a career as a nursing practitioner in the pediatric intensive care
unit. I love this occupation and I have already pursued my bachelors in nursing as a means of
making my future career come true. However, according to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
(PICU), a nursing practitioner in the intensive care unit must have a clinical Master’s Degree and
a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in nursing. An undergraduate bachelor’s degree in nursing
is an added advantage.

My portfolio provides key information on the personal data such as the awards I have
attained, the schooling period, and other supportive documents. Below is a detailed description
of how it will specifically look like.
The table of contents
This section provides the description of the compositions of everything that is covered in
the portfolio. In addition, each detail of every section has been effectively analyzed and indicated
on the pages that they can be found (Alexander & Stewart, 2016).
My personal description
This section particularly covers every experience that I have attained from my nursing
attachment and internships. In addition to this information, my past career positions and the
current one, the contacts, and qualifications will be covered in the section as well. Every program
that I have enrolled to through, including those of voluntary means, will be included here as well.
This section will also include the awards that I attained from the voluntary positions. Finally, my
career statement will be incorporated in this section to indicate the direction that I am moving to
in terms of career.
The appendix
In this section, I will strictly insert the details that act as an evidence to the above
information. Such documents will include the cover letter, my honors and awards, nursing
experience, and memberships. In addition, my nursing continuing educational credits,
publications and/or presentations, and my professional licensure and certification (East, 2015)
will be added in the section.
